They did not replace my phone.

Talked to a genius. "Apple has not indicated to us at this time that this is a manufacturing issue. You can use an AppleCare+ replacement if you want". Talked with a manager for an hour after I explained I had a reddit thread about this. "Apple has told us that it is not a problem with the phones. We need to make sure we are being consistent, especially with you're going to tell a thousand people about this. We are not replacing bent phones at this time. If something changes, I will let you know".

This was at the Walden Galleria Mall in Buffalo, NY. The manager I spoke to is A. Gregg Curtin III.
Yep. Saw that coming based on the lack of success by others here who tried to seek a remedy for their bent phones too. That's fine. If Apple really does have "flimsy" phones, their sales will tank next time iPhone 6/6plus owners are in the market to upgrade. And if they have not produced flimsy phones, sales will be fine. The market will speak.

Sorry OP that you didn't get the sort of care you expected to receive from Apple.

It bent during normal usage conditions such as being in the front pocket of my normal sized jeans with a case.

BS

i keep my Plus in my pockets of my skinny jeans without a case and it definitely doesn't bend for that.

Have you heard the record numbers of reserved iPhones in China??

Sales won't be affected because a few dozen people didn't care for their phones.

A MacRumors Nehalem? I'm a 65826 processor, apparently. I wish MR would post a list of rankings, in order, to see where we stand :D

By the way, Didn't you love his picture of the Platinum Amex and Benjamin roll? Good to see he know what's important in life.

This may help.

And yes, I'm super thrilled about his photos. The measure of a man clearly begins with a couple of watches, an iPhone, a BMW, and a roll of cash.

Oh wow! I forgot your phone is exactly representative of every of the 10 million other phones built in some Chinese factory! A 0% product failure rate, what will Apple come up with next!

There really should be an aptitude test before you join these forums...

It's not 0% but close... It's 0,0004% actually

You missed my point (Blind defensiveness perhaps?).

It's not sales of the iPhone 6 Apple needs to worry about. It's sales of the iPhone 7. How many bent 6 owners will splash another $700 or more two years from now on the next iPhone if they think the one they have didn't hold up and the resale/trade in value is zero because it's bent?

This whole issue won't do much short term damage, although even a 1% drop in sales as a result of fear is no small drop in the financial bucket.

Reputation damage, however, is insidious and eventually takes a toll. Apple, no matter what you think of them, does not benefit if the masses slowly discover that their expensive devices have bent when previous models did not. That's bad for business, if it happens...

No. You're still not wanting to understand that the number of people with bent iPhones is so ridiculous that wouldn't even start to tickle Apples profits or sales.

And with respect, you're still not wanting to understand that this is early in the game. There are two numbers - those who have noticed their phone is bent, and those with bent phones who have not yet noticed.

If it was "ridiculous" and not worrying Apple, why did they issue a press release about it? Why acknowledge it at all?

Acknowledge what?

That some people bent their phones by misusage?

If there was a problem Apple wouldn't be launching millions of iPhones in China.

That would be suicidal....

Early in the game?

it's 3 weeks on Friday since sale start.

What r you taking about?

That is now the most extreme case of Apple fanaticism I've ever encountered.

I'm sorry, not trying to rain on your parade and I hope you get a refund, but this is absolutely alarming.

Haha, it was more of an excuse thing. I knew I had to switch to jeans at some point

People still in denial. Unbelievable.

It's the INTERNET.

Watch: I'm the Sultan of Dubai.

What? You're in denial? PFFFT

People LIE. People SIT on their phone and then claim it came "out of the box" that way because all this "bendgate" BS gives them a sliver of credibility to latch on to in order to not take responsibility for their own actions.

If it was like that out of the box Apple should have been contacted within MINUTES of receiving it (or never taken at all if it was in store). After time elapses, who the heck knows what abuse it was put through, and I sure as heck am not going to believe someone on the internet just because they say so.

I was at an Apple store Sunday:

(Guy with an HTC M7/8 (I couldn't tell) asks a genius):

"So I hear these bend, can I try?"

(The Genius replies):

"If I can try and bend yours?"

(HTC Guy):

"No way"

STUFF BENDS! SHOCKING NEWSFLASH!!!

My phone is still not bent. Everyone's I know in real life: not bent. Everyone's I trust online: not bent. Apple says they don't. Consumer Reports says they don't. The CEO of T-Mobile (who makes a little more than me and can afford to try) says they don't.

And who says they do? People on the internet that have EVERY reason to LIE (to avoid owning up to their own negligence).

Okie dokie. There's a word for people who believe the LEAST reliable source above all others...

^^^^^ this

so true!!

Brilliant!

This bending issue has actually put me completely off buying the phone.

Was all for it a few days ago (after having rants over it being ok big. I decided to just get over that) and was all set to order one but how many threads had there been just on this forum about bent iPhones in the past few days?

And the amount of people defending this issue truly amazes me. Seriously I've seen people say 'don't put it in your pocket' and 'you're carrying it wrong' 'it's not meant to be carried in your pocket' etc. People have been carrying phones in their pockets since they became portable devices. If this was an issue every phone ever would bend during normal every day use. This is an issue with the iPhone 6/6+ line. people continuing to defend a plainly obvious flaw is hysterical fanboyism at it's best. It was the same with the antenna issue the 4. Then Apple acknowledged the issue and the fanboys tune changed (although my iPhone 4 had zero antenna issues).

Thanks Apple but I'll keep my £619 (was going to get he 64gb 6) until you sort this issue out. Or at the very least acknowledge it is an issue and tell us what you plan to do about it. I look forward to that time so I can buy my new iPhone.

(1) You cannot expect to use/carry a 5.5" iPhone 6+ the same way you used/carried your 4.0" iPhone 5.

(2) The force one's pocket exerts on a phone would not be enough to cause it to bend.

(3) There are literally millions of these things out there. How many CONFIRMED instances of bending have been reported? I know people won't believe Apple's 9, but I have yet to see any alternative number being thrown out there.

(4) I put my 6+ in my pocket, but DO take it out far more often than I did my 5S....not because I'm afraid of it bending, but because its BIG and uncomfortable. I knew this when I bought the device. I was aware that it is considerably BIGGER than any device I had previously owned. I knew my use case would change due to the change in size. I made all these decisions before buying the device. It amazes me that people don't think about their purchases more.

You are correct - people have been putting mobile devices in their pockets for quite some time. Those mobile devices also haven't had 5.5"+ displays.

Use your brain. You can't treat the device the same way. Because its not the same device. Just because something FITS in your pocket, doesn't mean that's where it should go.

He has a point. Your phone got bent somehow. Just saying "normal use" doesn't mean anything. There was a moment where it wasn't bent and a moment when it was. Something happened between those two moments. Asking what is not an accusation. It's a totally legitimate thing to ask. You may not know what did it, but SOMETHING did, because things don't "just bend."

----------

And with respect, you're still not wanting to understand that this is early in the game. There are two numbers - those who have noticed their phone is bent, and those with bent phones who have not yet noticed.

You forgot a number. People who's phones haven't bent. It isn't just bent phones and bent phones that people haven't noticed. That's a false assessment.

Quite the opposite, actually. Only a fool would buy into the hype. Think about it. There are now well north of 10 million iPhones in circulation. How many bends would constitute a "serious problem?" In the case of "Antennagate" the instance was arguably close to 100%. Are close to 100% of sold iPhone 6 series phones bent? 50%? No? 10%? That would be over a million bent iPhones. So, 1%? Are there over 100,000 bent phones out there?

So, who's the fool here? The ones screaming about "bendgate" or the ones calling for a little calm assessment of each bend on a case by case basis?

The phone just came out. The flaw is ubiquitous - it's in every iPhone 6. It's been proven that ordinary use and ordinary treatment can cause the phone to bend. Give it time. :)

And this may shock you, but not every person in the world takes to the internet to air their every grievance. Fortunately, we have things like logic, which I just introduced you to, to fill in the blanks.

You forgot a number. People who's phones haven't bent. It isn't just bent phones and bent phones that people haven't noticed. That's a false assessment.
I would say "People who's phone haven't bent YET"
Phones that have not bent in a week or two of use are not phones that will never bend. Only the test of time will tell us if these phones bend more easily than they should.
