People saying “treat yourself” are getting it wrong, if he’s not going to use that storage all he’s doing is treating Apple.

If people want to buy a 1TB iPhone that’s their money. You wouldn’t be worried about someone and how they use their storage unless you’re purchasing the phone for them.

I think it comes down to whether if one decides to mostly stream content (videos/music) or have it stored locally. The camera capability of large 4K videos is also a consideration. I personally split my media/documents between devices (Macbook, iPad and iPhone) and have some on iCloud (including photos) for seamless access of those between devices.

Of course, it is one’s decision but for finding reasons, while 1TB might sound overkill, it is a great purchase for the long run. Also, as a youtuber stated, this year’s camera and storage upgrade seems to be eye candy for those in the area of ‘iPhone-only’ content creation. There are some great YouTube channels with iPhone-only created content.

How much storage space do you use on your current phone? I can see buying a device with a little headroom, but unless you’ve got a 512 that’s bursting at the seams, or you’re planning to get into filmmaking, the 1 TB seems like overkill.
I currently have a iPhone X with 256G. It has about 60G left. That can not be my excuse.

I guess I just like to give my money to Apple. I don't have a good reason for ordering the 1TB version (Pro in Sierra Blue) but I ordered it anyway. Now I am trying to find a good use for the extra storage space. Did anyone else do the same?
I did the same! lol

The OP literally made a thread on a public forum saying he bought a 1TB phone and has no idea what to do with all the storage but apparently there was never an invitation to say he made a stupid decision?

It is a lot of money (but I can afford it). If I cancel it then I will lose my place in line (and not get it next Friday). I think I may stick with it. It may come in handy to hold some of important laptop files or maybe the space will come in handy for ultra-hd movies.

I haven't upgraded in four years so it may be a while and this does future proof it (but I still don't have a really good reason for buying the most expensive one).
By the time it arrives, you can try to take it to a store nearby, if possible, to see if you can downgrade it for a model with lesser capacity like a 128Gb or 256Gb version, if available.
At least you can afford it so enjoy! :)

I've managed to watch the storage over the years since Apple was too cheap to upgrade the storage on the lower end models.
The 13 Pro 128 Gb model is sufficient for my needs, mainly for music, lots of audiobooks and a handful of movies on trips and it still has more than enough remaining storage.
Wouldn't know what to do with 1 Tb of storage in an iPhone much less afford it.

256 for me. TBH I could get by with a quarter of that. Have a 256 xs max , currently I’m at 17.1GB.
Yes, once it arrives I will take lots of pics and videos, download a ton of apps that will be deleted shortly after. Then I will probably revert to type and take a handful of pics and video per year. Plus I delete way more than I keep.
