Hey all,
I'm happy to be telling everyone that I decided to finally upgrade my old 16 GB iPad Air 2, to the iPad Air M3, 13" 128GB after the iPad Air has pretty much been useless for the past 5, or so years, when 16GB wasn't enough, even for a basic consumption device.
My main uses for the iPad are as follows:
1. Reading
2. Email, Banking, and other daily tasks
3. Watching video, be it YouTube, or commercial content
4. Smart Home control, but I also use my iPhone for that
I love my late 2015, 27" iMac, but it's officially out of support now, and can't officially be upgraded through Apple's supported means. I did try Open Core legacy patcher for a while, and while it worked, I felt like I needed to stay with a supported configuration for best results. I also have an older late 2013 13" MBP, that isn't the best to depend on anymore either. So, I felt like the iPad was the best value as I really don't like laptops as a main computer because they feel cramped and too small compared to a desktop. So, having something that would be considered somewhat of a hybrid seemed the best choice.
I got the iPad through Verizon, so I have a cellular model, which is nice as I'll be able to use it anywhere, even when WiFi isn't present.
They also had the M5 Pro models, but for what I actually need an iPad for the extra cost, and features seemed overkill both in price, and having stuff, I'd never use.
The other concern I had, was PWM. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the screen doesn't bother me, but I don't use it long periods like I would a larger screen such an iPad, or even a TV.
I suffered head trauma which lead to a history of severe seizures from a child to early teen years. I've done some searchers on OLED, and PWM, and it looks like it could be a potential health concern. So my question is, for larger devices such as a future monitor, TV, etc, would it be better to ovoid OLED, and stick to LCD? I like the OLED screen on the iPhone, but on a day to day basis don't notice a huge difference over a good LCD panel, and I rarely watch movies and TV in a completely dark room where having total black vs a backlight would really matter.
I'm happy with the device that I got, these other questions are more for reasons not to get a device with an OLED panel, if I don't need the extra features (such as the pro vs the Air). Remember, for serious work I still prefer the space and feel of a desktop, this is for when I don't need that, but the phone is too small.
