I got my iPhone 4 a week ago but had to return it for a new one because it had a dead pixel. It was an upgrade from a 3G so it was a huge bump for me.
I personally hate cases I really do, like someone else said in this forum it hides what you try to protect. I use a Bugatti Slim style case, mine is a Belkin but I don't know the exact model.
I find these types of cases to be "a best of both worlds" type of thing because you enjoy the phone as it was meant to be but when not in use it protects it really well.
I also got a 2 Euro/ month insurance against water and physical damage, jsut in case (pun intended). :D
 
this is a concern for me as well. I HATE cases, but have one on my 3GS because the thing constantly slips out of my hand without one (testiment to it's sleek design).

I will not use a bumper on a 4 if I get one. I think with it's square edges all around it will be easier to hold on to. Front and back screen, though, are a must.
