Still pissed at myself. Last time I listen to anyone online "Oh yeah, I've had every generation of iPhone and I've never had a scratch!"

Goddamn ********.

Dude chill out it's just a damn phone

I will rub my naked phone against this table in your memory.

I was always caseless since iPhone 3G even with this iPhone 4 ever since launch. Two weeks ago I tried the bumper and it looks good so I've left it on since sometimes the iPhone 4 is kind of uncomfortable to hold It's so slim.

If it helps I've been caseless since I got the phone in July and it has been fine. There's just a scratch on the back... but I don't really mind it.

Well if it does drop and something gets cracked, pray that it's the back of the phone. Apple charges $29 to replace it as opposed to $199 for the front (which will require a whole phone swap).

I first used my phone with OT commuter case, which was good but i had some problems with the PS so i decided to take it out.I've been using my phone for 2 weeks without a case and so far so good, haven't had any scratches on it.And it feels better without a case IMO :D

Yeah, I've never used a case on my 3G, but I have to on my iPhone 4 because of the stupid antena. Probably a good thing though, I dropped it twice already on concrete and not a scratch on the phone (using incase slider).

there are basically only two ways to please everyone

a) if you want to keep your phone 100% scratch free and aren't that careful, then you HAVE to use a screen protector

b) If you don't mind very light scracthes and are very careful, then you can go naked

Dude, I support you. I used to try with and without case. You could see my iPhone sometimes naked, sometimes with protection. I have had all four generations of iPhone and I have to say; well, for the first three, it does not matter if you carry around a case, but especially for the fourth generation, do not! You will ruin the sexy look/aesthetic/feel of it. Just apply screen protector - that's it. I did not even put any on my phone, I believe the glass is scratch resistant enough (not scratch proof though, stay alert). Just make sure do not drop it from the height of 2-3 m :)

However what concerns me most is not the glass cover, but the stainless steel band. In my opinion it is more scratch prone than the front and back surface. I just dropped my phone from my bed (30cm high only, I am serious) but yet one little and hardly noticeable scuff appeared. Not an eye-sore, and I do not really mind about it, but yes, it proves that the band is not so tough as advertised.

If you read around, there are people claiming that the Apple bumpers scratched their metal bands. It was not the bumper but the sand or debris that got inside the case that rubbed the phone. Therefore, either you clean your case everyday (to make sure no debris/sand/dust got inside) or you carry your phone naked, but be double careful.

One more thing: if you leave your phone caseless, anyone who look at it will know it is iPhone 4. So kind of more show-off, do you think so?

Similar to that scratch, yes. Screen protector is on it's way but they'll be at least another day or two of use before it arrives. Another day or two of it going in and out of my pocket.

Again I should have got the damn protector they had at the Apple store but I figured "Bah, a few days without one until I get the one I want in, I'll be fine, at least I have a case."

Edit: I can't help but feel that the mere act of sliding it in and out of the case above would eventually scratch the screen.

Here is mine inside. Crap picture. It was taken with this here webcam. But you get the idea. It's like a carpet in there. Cleans my screen on the way out.

Love it.

Got my iPhone 2 weeks ago and bought a case straight away. but decided to go naked last week, cuz i can't use keyboard and the touch screen properly... I decided to apply screen protecters on both sides, now it's been 4 days without a case, I'm careful and so happy with the look and the use..

Today's obscure Seinfeld reference: Kramer: "I'm out there Jerry and lovin every minute of it."

I have a ton of cases for my 3G, but the 4 is just too nice to put a case on.

I have been using this case for 2 months and it is great. It is minimal/low profile and semitransparent and still protects the phone enough for me. I hate most iPhone cases but this one works well and is not too noticeable.

I thought I had finally scratched the front glass a week ago but took a microfiber cloth and rubbed it out (there has to be a better way to say that). It was just a smudge...

I've been using the Griffin Motif case on mine and I like it a lot.

My hands are normally dry and without a case I can't get a decent grip on my iP4.

got some gnarly scratches on the back from sliding on tables and such. used to have cases on my iphones but accepted the fact that i probably won't be selling the iphone 4 so i beat it up.

i also set 200 to the side just in case i drop it lol.

btw, i agree with the people that say its hard to grab sometimes.

when someone calls in the middle of night, i drop the phone sometimes cause its a ***** to pick up from a flat table.

I thought this too, Apple advertized it as the strongest glass ever.

But one drop on concrete lead to the top of it being smashed, just above the front facing camera (it didn't crack that, thank god).

So yeah, don't go caseless. I have to thank the otterbox thing though, it covers up the crack really well.

iPod touch

I'm stuck in a contract with T-Mobile right now, so no iPhone for me, *GROWL* but my old iPod touch (2g) has a beautiful crack in the screen because of a less then three foot drop from the headboard of my bed to the frame - made a sickening sound. I kept it in a case forever more. My new phone (android, HATE it) has screen protector + case-so-big-you-could-hit-it-with-a-tank.

i thought to go on caseless , then last month the i drop the phone, i was lucky it fall on the metal side and there is only a light scretch
in any way i decided to use a case so i have bought the element case and i don't like it very much
it is not bad but in the hand it feels strange probably too large and there is the problem that only the iphone 4 slim cherger work, so the old car charger etc doesn't work
i have also bought the gorilla case in carbon and for me it is fantastic, very solid and a wondeful looking

You just need a dremel and a steady hand.

I've never used a case... Not with my 2g, 3g, or now my 4. I don't go throwing it around or anything but i'm really not that careful with it. It's just a phone... and i love the way it looks without a case. But the main reason i dont use a case is b/c i am constantly using the universal dock for music. I use it everyday in my car and at work and it's just a hassle to take a case off and it's not as clean looking if you leave it on and not use the right adaptor.

I probably would reconsider if i didnt have squaretrade... i'm just looking for an excuse for it to break :) haha.
