I managed to experience the Series 7 watches in person today and would like to share my thoughts, or rather, concerns after doing so!

Context: Apple Watch user since Series 0, always going for the larger size of the two as I progress from series to series. Current daily driver is a Series 6 Nike Cellular, Space Grey, 44mm.

When I first saw the Series 7 today, the increased screen size jumped at me more than I expected. The difference was really obvious when I wore it side by side:

My immediate take on it is that.. it is too big! It just looks a little disproportionately big. Here's a shot of just the S7 (45mm) on my wrist.

The smaller S7 was there too, so I put it on and it immediately felt right.

The simple solution seems to be... to just get the smaller one! But... I have quite a collection of bands for the larger size already.

I walked away thinking... maybe I should just keep the S6 though that does not seem like a long-term solution, if this trend continues. The S6 size actually seems to be just right for me...

I am wondering if there is anyone out there who may think that the larger size is now too big?
The 45mm looks huge in you. Obviously go with the 41mm

Do you wear clothes and shoes that don't fit you as well? Tech can only go so far before you look like a goofball walking around with an iPhone sized watch hanging off your tiny wrist. Gotta keep it a little classy.

But we're not talking about an iPhone sized device. We're talking about a difference of millimeters between the watches. I truly do not care if someone thinks my watch looks too big.

My first impression: Synchronising my new watch right now and the OP is totally right: The new display is a monster! The 6 looks like a toy from years ago. Feels like a watch 6 compared to a watch 3. What a difference!
Regarding the color: I´m coming from a red 6 and now starlight is real different. It looks for me more like a soft gold than silver. Will be hard to get used to. But I will keep it. The red 6 is sold already and there is no way back.
Old band fits without problems.
As long has the unit isn’t larger then it’s all a bonus.

why are you worried. you dont like it and said you dont. so dont buy it. or is the headline just clickbait

Yes the big one is obviously too big for you. Can you please tell us your wrist size though? The pictures don’t really tell us anything without knowing your wrist size. I’m guessing 165mm or smaller?

Well, you have to consider the 'small' watch is now 41mm, which is only a 1mm shorter case compared to the OG 42mm 'large' Watch.

I was in your shoes a couple of years ago. I had a SS S0 42mm which fit pretty good, the S5 44mm I'd ordered was too big for my boney wrists (looked much like your photos!), so I returned it for a 40mm, which was a little smaller than ideal but fit much better. The 41mm feels/looks juuuust right, my only gripe now is that some bands are only available in the large/small sizes and in a 'kind of sexist' way (esp. the Hermes bands!).

Holy crap - thats a 44mm vs a 45 mm???
really, I don't know if it is the angle of the picture- that seems way bigger. I am still using the S4 44 with 91% battery - I will replace it when it gets to 75% or even less. I find the battery life sufficient for my needs.

Get the one that fits properly for you. Simple.

the S7 in the photo is resting on some kind of store security puck - completely false perspective

I exchanged the larger S6 for the smaller size last year myself; as above, buy the one that fits if you care about how it looks.

That, and wrist shots like that in general give a false perspective and make any watch look bigger. A better photo would be from the side, hand in pocket, with a little distance. Having said that both the S7 and S6 appear to be at the upper limit of what the OP's wrist can wear, if the criteria is none of the watch case overhanging the wrist.

Funny, did the same today and had a similar reaction.
The 45mm S7 looked ginormous against my 44mm S6 and the 41mm S7.
But, as others have pointed out, the case is only 1mm bigger.
For me it’s the impact of the smaller bezels and the very welcome larger screen that distorts my perception of the 45mm S7 on my wrist. Maybe I’ve not articulated this perfectly but hopefully you get what I mean. Or to put it another way, the case is hardly any bigger, it’s “just” the screen…
BTW The attraction of the 45mm for me is that I’m long sighted so a larger screen would be a major plus.

I've always had the 42/44 sizes, and received 45 today. I knew it was going to be slightly bigger, but figured not by much given bezel is getting reduced as screen size increases. But its definitely noticeable. Surprised me. Also thicker in size too - this might be due to the sensor array on the rear of the case.

Still fits me fine, but it would be interesting for those originally on the 42 to drop to the 41, get a smaller watch but nearly same screen size. Of course the band collection is an issue.

I have the 44mm SE but if I was getting the S7 I’d likely go for the 41mm.

The 44mm SE is almost too big for my wrist, IMO.

You know, I've often had that feeling with various things. It's a change. My advice? Keep on, in a couple of days it will seem normal.

Guys, this info is not meaningful without including wrist size. Circumference preferably and if that's not possible than at least the Apple solo loop size would useful.

I think it may just take some getting used to — like the larger iPhones today compared to the original 3.5” size. Some people prefer the 4” size of the iPhone 5 and others want the largest size available.

Though they don’t wear those phones on their wrist, I think the idea is the same — bigger seems to be more popular. Maybe the same will become of Watch.

The could very well prove to be true. When Apple announced the iPhone 6 and its massive size, I was excited. My entire family (wife, 6 kids and the older grandkids) all made fun of me for choosing a phone that big. Fast forward seven years and most of them have iPhones in the Max/Max Pro size...
