Did you see comparison pictures or specs that show that the 41 mm display is bigger than 44 mm? Would love to see this. Could you share if you have something?

FYI: Got the 45, absolutely love it, love the screen--but the SS weight is hurting (and I don't like any of the aluminum colors) so I'm wondering if I need to trade in for a 41. I've gotten used to and prefer the bigger screen of the 44, so I don't want to go smaller, but if the 41 provides a technically larger screen, that could be awesome and save me some literal pain.

I changed my original comment to almost the same size. The difference is barely noticeable.

I have the smaller sized (38mm?) Series 3 AW, and the thought of going any bigger than that concerns me.
This was my concern as previous to 38mm I had the larger size of series 0… the 41mm fits ok. Still getting used to slightly larger on my wrist. Ironically I love the pro max and it’s what I’m currently using. The 41mm though is a bit big for my wrist. Can barely see the straps… 🥲

I guess all the folks talking about "large watches look tacky" are the same folks saying iPhone 4 was ideal and that the Plus phones looked like an iPad. Fast forward a few years and everyone walks around with Pro Max that's almost the size of an iPad Mini.

My wrist is 165mm, with the above formula I should have the 38mm model LOL. I currently have the 44mm and will likely get the 45mm today.

I plan on switching from my aw6 in size 40mm to an aw7 in size 45mm. Good thing is the smaller bands can easily be worn on the bigger watch. But I had the same worries as you have now when I ordered. So I ordered two watches, 41mm and 45mm, to try them out. Maybe the bigger screen is so good that I will stick to the smaller watch.

I managed to experience the Series 7 watches in person today and would like to share my thoughts, or rather, concerns after doing so!

Context: Apple Watch user since Series 0, always going for the larger size of the two as I progress from series to series. Current daily driver is a Series 6 Nike Cellular, Space Grey, 44mm.

When I first saw the Series 7 today, the increased screen size jumped at me more than I expected. The difference was really obvious when I wore it side by side:

My immediate take on it is that.. it is too big! It just looks a little disproportionately big. Here's a shot of just the S7 (45mm) on my wrist.

The smaller S7 was there too, so I put it on and it immediately felt right.

The simple solution seems to be... to just get the smaller one! But... I have quite a collection of bands for the larger size already.

I walked away thinking... maybe I should just keep the S6 though that does not seem like a long-term solution, if this trend continues. The S6 size actually seems to be just right for me...

I am wondering if there is anyone out there who may think that the larger size is now too big?
It’s very unclear what you are showing photos of …… you are not showing your S6 against S7 ? The case sizes are the same on S6 and S7 but the display is bigger ….. you have a side by side of 2 different cases ….. are you sure your S6 is 44 ?

Same here, only ever worn the 38mm and 40mm watches as anything bigger looks ridiculous on my wrists. I think pushing the size an extra couple of mm will be an unwelcome change. The watch in the OP looks far too big on the wrist in the photos in my opinion. Definitely should be going for the smaller of the two.

I’ve always had the 38mm (and related) since the s0, but I’ve got a 45mm coming today. I’m probably a size 3/4 on the sizing guide but I’m fed up of the battery life in particular. I also use a fenix 6s pro which is pretty big and I managed to,sleep, with that ok.
we’ll see; I’m going at it with an open mind…

Thanks for sharing this, I also was worried and couldn’t decide between the two sizes. 45mm is definitely too big for my wrist…!

Then again, not saying everyone should go with the 41mm. Anyways thanks for sharing you helped me big time!

Cheers,

I couldn’t go up in size for visual reasons on my wrists but I’ve also got around 10 sport bands for the smaller size. To replace them would cost hundreds. Did you not have that issue?

I would that is spot on. My wrist is 17.5cm and the 40/41mm fits with wrist showing too and bottom. If I went bigger, then it would just be a screen dominating the entire top side of my wrist.

I would say that you may be correct from the second sentence onward... But you need to reread the post I replied to.

You’re probably right and I come from a mechanical past so my tastes are perhaps more traditional than some. Big watches have never been my preference.
Me too (mechanical past) and I don’t like oversize pieces that seem to be quite fashionable but each to their own.

the larger size AW is fine for me although the smaller case also looks OK ….. my choice more comes down to my eyesight not being as good as it once was and the larger screen is better for me in that regard.

The ideal watch size is 2.3 * wrist size.

So if your wrist size is closer to 19.5 mm, get the 45 mm model. If your wrist size is closer to 17.8 mm, get the 41 mm model.

It‘s that simple.

Wrist circumference is important for the bands. But for the right watch size it is more important how wide your wrist is at the top.

If I were in your shoes, and already have a vast band collection for the larger sized watch, I'd try the 45mm Series 7 and give it a week before deciding. You might just get used to the bigger screen size/ or love it. :) :D :)

This is why it took me forever to try the AW. My first and only is the Series 6 in aluminum gold. I went basic because I'm afraid of these types of issues and the fact that technology goes away really fast so I stuck it out with my traditional watches.

Imagine if you had a vast collection of Hermes bands! What would happen if your size phases out one day and you're left with all these hyper expensive bands?

The morning after.

I can’t tell my series 7 apart from the series 6 at all. The screen may technically be bigger, but it’s imperceptible to me. I can’t tell that the case is larger; it doesn’t look or feel heavier or thicker.

To be honest, I’m kinda disappointed. I had hoped that UI elements would be increased in size enough to help my poor vision. The only difference so far is improved battery life; it only drained 5% in 8hr overnight. However, I attribute that to having a new battery as my series 6 was down to 91% battery capacity.

I highly recommend to use a non-black watch face with the 7. Then it's very obvious to me. When using a black watch face they look identical to me.

I've never ever used non-black watch faces before due to the big ass bezels, but now they look gorgeous with the thinner bezel.
