I managed to experience the Series 7 watches in person today and would like to share my thoughts, or rather, concerns after doing so!

Context: Apple Watch user since Series 0, always going for the larger size of the two as I progress from series to series. Current daily driver is a Series 6 Nike Cellular, Space Grey, 44mm.

When I first saw the Series 7 today, the increased screen size jumped at me more than I expected. The difference was really obvious when I wore it side by side:

My immediate take on it is that.. it is too big! It just looks a little disproportionately big. Here's a shot of just the S7 (45mm) on my wrist.

The smaller S7 was there too, so I put it on and it immediately felt right.

The simple solution seems to be... to just get the smaller one! But... I have quite a collection of bands for the larger size already.

I walked away thinking... maybe I should just keep the S6 though that does not seem like a long-term solution, if this trend continues. The S6 size actually seems to be just right for me...

I am wondering if there is anyone out there who may think that the larger size is now too big?
Maybe you gain some weight? 🤷‍♂️

I had a 40mm watch (or 38 back in the day) until today. I went for the 45mm and couldn't be happier. I now look at the smaller watch and just see a toy. At first glance, it does look huge but I found it looking great pretty quickly.

Not everyone has puny wrists 45mm. Similar to a premium luxury watch some Rolex’s look strange on people wrists.

Maybe I need to try one on in store while I wait for my November 2nd delivery.

Just left the Apple Store and side by side with my 44mm AW6, I barely notice the size difference.

Pretty sure it's an optical illusion because yours is black and the large one you tried on is the starlight.. here's a picture of my starlight 45mm (series 7) (left, blue strap) against my 44mm silver (series 5) (white, pride strap). When I look at them right above each other I sense the 45mm might be a little bit larger, but it's super hard to tell.

Everyone has different desires. I desire that one day they make an even bigger AppleWatch than the one they just released.
If you have a larger wrist then yeah, but if you don't, no.

Don't choose the bigger case just because of that, but rather the size that’s right for your forearms, big watches look bad.

I’m just glad the 41 mm display is almost the same size as the 44 mm display.

Before the introducción of Series 7, I’ve already decided to switch to the smaller case, since it fits my forearm better and looks classy.

I wish people didn’t choose the bigger case just because of that, but rather chose the size that’s right for their forearms; big watches look tacky and intrusive, no matter it they are Rolex or Casio.

I have thicker wrists, so I think the 45mm would be nice for me. The 44mm 4 & 6 aren’t too small, but one more millimeter would be nice. I think maybe, too, it’s filling up more space in its case to make it look huge.

I LOVE the new 45mm. I'm a fan of big watch faces and I'm so glad Apple made a bigger screen.

You need to compare them with screens on to appreciate it

series 6 44mm vs series 7 45mm

The high coloured background in the watch faces make them seem bigger and the screen size more obvious. I use a 44mm S4 with a black background face (infograph), which makes it less clear where the display starts and ends. Seems a more subtle effect to me, which I prefer.

Yup.. but the black vs starlight really causes it to look larger :)

Edit: sorry not making myself clear. The cases are basically the same size. Black bezels make things look way bigger. But the new screen does feel bigger for me! 😄

lol so funny reading this thread seeing men assert their masculinity by their wrist size…. but yeah agree the smaller case size suits your wrist way better.

I’ve had my 45mm on for a few hours now. The size increase is actually not at all noticeable to me.

Dat dere small wrist problems.

Honestly, my opinion, the 44mm was prob on the big size for you.

yeah baby!

I haven't had a chance to see the new S7 watch in person yet, but I have the same concern. I am a woman with a very small wrist and my S6 watch is already big for my wrist. I like the idea of the bigger screen but if it looks ridiculous on my wrist I may stay with the S6 this year.
Then you shouldn’t upgrade

Bought a 45 today and I don’t really mind the size, feel like I should size down the loop though (currently a size 5 but feels loose, might go down to a 4)

I guess it’s kinda big on my wrist but it doesn’t really bother me, so not sure

Did you see comparison pictures or specs that show that the 41 mm display is bigger than 44 mm? Would love to see this. Could you share if you have something?

FYI: Got the 45, absolutely love it, love the screen--but the SS weight is hurting (and I don't like any of the aluminum colors) so I'm wondering if I need to trade in for a 41. I've gotten used to and prefer the bigger screen of the 44, so I don't want to go smaller, but if the 41 provides a technically larger screen, that could be awesome and save me some literal pain.

I feel ya. I’m on a Series 2 and have several bands, including the pricey link band. I’m quite sure the Series 7 at 45mm or whatever that’s compatible with my bands will look too ginormous on my wrists, but there’s no way I’m going to give up all my bands. I’ll just keep on with the Series 2. Still works fine for basic stuff. Besides, I’d be more inclined to upgrade if they add global LTE or even 5G support.
