I got the 13" space gray touch bar version yesterday and love it. I had the '15 model and am very happy I upgraded. Also getting used to the new keyboard. I really like how compact the new design is, and the Magic Mouse 2 actually works flawlessly on the new model. On my '15 version, I got constant 1-2 second lags every 15 or so minutes.
Did I understand you right: vendors should only make new generation better than three generations old as they're not trying to impress the previous generation buyers or just make the product better? Oi-vei, Apple, you could've shrinked the battery more
There is no law telling Apple to make next generation product better than the current one. They may also raise their prices to whatever they estimate people will pay. Apple products have more value than just efficacy of number crunching and battery life. People will pay Apple's prices for very different reasons.
Just as an example: I like wearing very expensive and upmarket underwear. Firstly, if I'm ever caught with my pants down I'm far from embarrassed, maybe even slightly pleased at being exposed with my product. Secondly, I like how they feel and they are very comfortable. For my everyday wear and tear they work just fine since I never go sliding down slopes on my behind. A lot of my friends thinks it's ludicrous spending more than 5 times what they spend on underwear, but it's my money and I do whatever I want with them. There are people who spend a fortune on a Rothko when they could just as well have bought the print...
You'll enjoy it. We've both waited long enough. This thing is so excellent and so much better than my 2010 MBP (obviously) but yeah contrary to popular belief the machine did not explode right out of the box cause you know thats what first gen stuff does. It's probably on for atleast 10-12 hours ever day since I've gotten it still running smooth.
