Man I hope some movie directors read this thread. Not so much for the stupid scam part, but drug dealers laundering money using Apple gift cards could be the blockbuster of the year given the pathetic quality of movies lately.
I must have dozed off during that bit.....when did the drug dealer thing happen?Man I hope some movie directors read this thread. Not so much for the stupid scam part, but drug dealers laundering money using Apple gift cards could be the blockbuster of the year given the pathetic quality of movies lately.
Pixellated: It's called humour... or humor...
I thought it was funny because it proves the point that anyone can say anything they want on these boards about things like this. Seriously. You can make up any story - and in times like this, people will make up many stories for $3500. I found LERsince1991's post a good one because it shows what people are capable of.
The point is you can't tell who's telling the truth or what. I think that the if the OP is legit, they did enough already. However, it is possible that the OP is a scammer too, no one knows.
[removed my hypothetical creative writing story involving how a gift card magically went from falling out of a Peugeot 206 because there wasn't enough room (see pic, small car) for the gift card and 16 bags, and magically made its way over to Florida in a child's pocket who was on their way to Disney World who happened to lose their luggage and she just happened to drop it in a parking lot... oops, what was that about me removing that story?]

*Send an email to Steve Jobs or Tim Cook reporting all the details. That way that will give an incentive for the store employees to remain honest and perhaps your good nature could be rewarded.
I just skimmed this thread, but doesn't this seem like the perfect scam to you?
OP posts about doing the right thing and makes himself seem honest and sincere.
Some innocent person PMs him and offers him $2000 or $2500 or $3000 for the card.
They reach an agreement, Innocent sends the $$$ and gets *surprise* a box of air in return.
Did anybody call the Apple Store in Orlando to see if somebody actually is reporting finding an Apple Card?
Went to the Apple Store a hour later after I find it and they looked it up and they told me that the person paid it with cash... So their was know way they could find the owner...
I was pretty much with you until that comment. There are a lot of people in the US who don't speak English all that well. I really don't think the OP's lack of English is evidence of anything.
This thread is still going? If the original guy is still around just post a screen shot of the $ amount. Otherwise your are full of ****.
Haha, just read thought the posts. Drug money laundering? You are the dumbest computer geeks in the world.
Bring it to a police station, get a receipt. If noone claims it in 2 months it'll be yours...
Not a myth in the UK. finders keepers law applies and upheld by the law, my other half found some fishing rods recently, after waiting two months she actually got a call from the local Police sergeant asking if she would like to collect the fishing rods, she did and we now go fishingThat is a myth, or at least you'd better check the Orlando Police Dept's rules about that. Once you turn something over to the police, it belongs to the police. You should speak to the Apple Store manager, explain what happened, keep the gift card yourself but don't use it. Then you'll call the store back in a week, if nobody has reported the card lost AND CAN PROVE IT then it's yours. You did your "due diligence" in attempting to find the rightful owner.
You've never been to Chicago have you? Drivers license and a Benjamin = no ticket for you.I still think it's funny that he thinks that in the US we bribe police officers who write us a traffic ticket.
This is the US, not Mexico.
Bingo. Anyone with half a brain would take the cash to the bank, and put it into a short term CD. You just made $20 in interest, and you don't have the temptation to spend it. Putting it on a gift card while waiting for a new product is not something a mammal capable of thought and reason would do.5) If money means anything to you at all, you wouldn't tie up $3 grand in cash for several months while you're waiting for a new product to be announced.
Lol it was a 4 door 206Silver by the way...
Yup spend the money, if you even have the card and all this isn't just a silly little lie. If I found a gift card, no matter how much on it I would go to the shop and ask how much is left on my gift card. Actually me and my mate have done that plenty of time, except he's the one that picks up the card normally. You wouldn't get in trouble if you spend something you find in public...
This thread is striking me more and more like one I read earlier by the kid who claimed to have "found" an unlocked, unregistered iPhone with no call history or any other information that could possibly allow him to track down an original owner.
Sure is interesting what people "find" lying around these days...
Certainly true, but I think Savar was saying something I would say myself (depending on the language) which is that it's not hard to spot a person who is faking a shaky command of English. They will usually trip up stylistically, whereas a person whose native language is not English will usually be consistent in the way he or she uses English, and can be expected to use certain kinds of constructions, word orders, etc., that are natural to the person's native language, but not natural to English.
