I don't want to bring it to the police you can trust American Police they are bad... The same in my country they are very very bad... One time I find a $20,000 ring and I took it to the police were from and they never tried to find the person..

My father is a police man and they always make people give them money instead of giving a ticket... I bet that happens here in the states

You have the best luck EVAR!!!!! (yes I know it's spelled wrong)

Finder's keeper, so I'd get myself a MBP and a Mini, sell the Mini on eBay and use the money to get drunk, and make a toast to the looser, as well.
If I'd believe in god, I'd suggest myself that this is god's way to tell he's sorry for all the phones I lost over the years.

Unbelievable...

Believable. Under the reverse conditions, had the poster been the person to come on here saying "i just went to the apple store with my life savings and purchased a gift card, i lost it in the parking lot and now i dont know what to do! :("

OP would be blasted with posts like "you are so irresponsible, if you can't handle that much money you deserved to lose that gift card" and so on and so forth in that fashion.

Edit: just noticed this was posted over a year ago. I hate thread resurrectors.

If all that was said here is true (especially the paid in cash bit and untraceable owner), keep it.

Leaving it to the police station or the apple store now that you have talked about it on public forums is a very bad idea. Anyone living in the Orlando area can now just go claim it back as you've provided enough details to make the story from their part believable. And anyone have smart could also give a good enough excuse as to why they paid in cash and lost the receipt as well.

Just leave your contact info at the Apple Store and make it clear you won't give it back unless clear evidence is provided i.e. security cam tapes and/or receipt of purchase. Also check the date on the receipt, someone could go get another then get reimbursed then use the receipt as a fake proof now that he's heard of the story here.

Hold on to it for a week or so, if the Apple Store doesn't contact you about it, congratulations, you've just been very lucky. Waiting any more than that is pointless: it takes 24 hours at most to notice the loss of $3500.
