iBook, Powerbook Specs?

German store down as well (but usually the US Store closes last and opens first).

I don't have money anyway. :(

I'm pretty sure that the poster you're responding to meant that they would prefer to invest in a chip that won't be technologically left behind sometime in the near future. With the G5 ramping up, the G4 will soon be a backburner or low-cost solution, rather than the main one. The reference to the beige G3 is probably one that is implying the relatively quick transition to new hardware in blue and white G3s, and then to G4s.

Actually I'm talking need versus desires and wants. As I've said if a G5 Powerbook were announced today I would get it. However, I'll happily go with a new G4.

It sounds like (to me) the people who are putting off the purchase of a new Powerbook becuase they aren't G5s are really in it more for the Wow factor - they clearly don't need a new laptop now.

And yes the hardware transition could be quick or it could be 9 more months. If someone needs a new laptop, they should get it now and not wait. Just because some people are upset that the G5 powerbook isn't out yet is no reason to put down a G4 update.

Also, a G4 powerbook won't really be left behind that quickly. And if it is and I need a G5 Powerbook, then I will wind up getting a G5 PB then. At whatever the current G5 speed is.

The only thing I would do is go in a buy a laptop when I know new models are being announced in a few days.

This is the usual time of day for updates that aren't tied to a keynote orr press conference.
 
the store says they will be updated in an hour, but I think it'll be sooner than that. Probably 6:30 or 7 my time (GMT-7:00) right now its 6:20 so I'm waiting. Good luck all. lol
 
I've got a feeling that they are just updating the the Education and Business stores because they didn't have the new software on them yesterday!! :(
