the xserve isn't that big. and is has 2 g5's.

Actually it is noticably bigger. 1'75" high instead of 1" and the XServe doesn't have an LCD screen in that space. Also if you look at the other dimensions, the XServer is well over twice the size of a Powerbook. Also, the power required to run the fans in the XServe would drain a laptop battery quickly.

MHZ is important if you need to run certain apps. That, my friend is a fact. So obviously its something I would like to have/use. Heck, 600mhz g3 is minimum JUST for the iSight. 700Mhz G4 barely handles 8 GB tracks simultaniously... and that is with a GIG of ram. Therefore clockspeed IS relevant.
Yes, but we're talking 1.5GHz G4s, not 700MHz G4s. Now if you really need all that power, you probably want a Dual 2.0GHz G5 anyway, not a laptop.

Ya know, the only thing funnier than listening to all the adults on here losing sleep, missing school, missing work, etc to watch for the updates is the fact that I am one of them! :D

I guess 2 hours sleep was enough, and I don't have to leave for work for another 1.5 hours.

My credit card is ready baby, bring on something nice!

Did you ask about the actual updates?

MINE!

The 1.5 GHz, 15-inch PowerBook G4, for a suggested retail price of $2,499
(US), includes:
-- a 4x SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW) optical drive;
-- 512MB of 333 MHz DDR SDRAM;
-- AirPort Extreme wireless networking and internal Bluetooth;
-- DVI, VGA, S-video and composite video support;
-- Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000BASE-T);
-- two USB 2.0 ports, FireWire 400 and 800;
-- a Backlit keyboard with ambient light sensor; and
-- a 80GB Ultra ATA/100 hard drive.
WOOHOO! Less expensive by a couple of hundred (US).

Just a little survey -

How many of us have all the apple stores minimised in their docks and refreshing them every 30 seconds. Apple's servers must be running hot tonight :p
