[East coast continental US] I can use my Notes again. Had to manually close and reopen the apps, though.

I would love to know what the cause of this was...

Private Relay is still down...

What we see is the downside of cloud services. Apple should move most services back to on the devices. In the end there is nothing that speaks for a cloud. Sync between apple devices could be done via local wifi too. They should implement this in the next OS versions.
Yes, because there are never issues with local devices or networks either. And with this solution I would need all of my stuff on at the same time to maintain the sync (or likely one device on all the time).

There are very good reasons things have moved toward the cloud. It isn't perfect, but it offers an alternative to dealing with everything locally. And most cloud services have options to keep files locally as well. In all honesty, the only reason I noticed an outage is I tried to start an Apple Music stream...

If you really want to keep some of your stuff in a "local" cloud, there are some options. You can use something like OwnCloud for file storage, etc.

The status page is utterly useless. I'm trying to wipe and reset an iPad and I can't get past the sign in with your iCloud Apple ID. Yet the status page says everything is running just fine. No Apple, the system is not available. LOL.
The thing is they don't have a YELLOW status!! So some of those GREENs can be some people are getting service and some people aren't. They should be YELLOW. The REDs mean completely DOWN, for 95% of everyone... I can only assume...

Phew! glad all the first world peeps got their dose of internet outrage today lol. So sad that Harper the Gen Z "designer" couldn't get any work done on her 16" MBP while sitting in a Pac NW cafe, sipping tea and TikTok-ing.

The only reason I keep Apple Music is due to sound quality which is lacking in other music streaming applications.

And I totally agree with that too. Like the issues I have are it randomly just stops playing or I get resource unavailable errors or it takes forever to even start playing etc. No clue what the deal is.

The Apple server status page is a joke.

I already had issues more than one full hour before anything was red at all. Find me did not work and showed incosistent data for AirTags / Airpods on different devices.

At the beginning - when everything still showed a green dot on the server status page - even the link to the developer status page was not working at all.

I’m not saying it doesn’t happen to other providers too, but this is exactly why I like to diversify my applications and services. I don’t use Apple Maps, Google Maps here, I prefer Microsoft Office 365 over iWork and I also keep backup copies of my files and photos on OneDrive. I also use a variety of web browsers too in addition to being operating system agnostic although my primary operating systems at home are iOS and macOS. But if something like this happens, I can always use my debit card, switch to my Windows 10 laptop or another browser. These monoculture platforms are not a good thing.

Me too. I use Google Maps because Apple Maps sucks. I use Microsoft Office 365 because Apples office suite is a joke. I have mostly Apple devices, but I also keep a Windows laptop around too, as well as a Fire TV Cube and a Roku. And I always make local backups rather than totally depend on any cloud service, but I do use iCloud to keep my devices synced.

Have you tried buying a PC?

There was a momentary glitch with my iCloud account when I was on my iMac asking me to re-sign in through systems preferences but then the request just disappeared when I attempted to sign-in. I was working in mail and the “all inboxes” file completely disappeared and I had to reload it back into the view pane. Other than that, no other issues.

It really did depend on what you were doing at the time. I thought my iCloud photos were somehow corrupted as I couldn't export photos from Apple Photo. I was about to do something drastic when I checked here! All normal now.

None of this is surprising at all really.. Apple has been dropping the ball left and right in so many areas. Even the marketing team trying to deceive with regards to the M1 chip speeds..
**** happens. Sometimes network services go down.

Personally I think these outages are a good thing. They remind us of how much we tend to depend on these services and that we should always have alternatives available, and a local copy of our data. When services are too reliable with barely any downtime, we take them for granted and become less vigilant.

This is also another reason I still buy physical media of my Movies and TV shows. Streaming is nice, but having a physical copy is reliable and dependable. Also, for those who care about such things also provide the best picture and sound quality. (especially for HD, and 4K) titles.
