You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Before iOS 7 was announced a lot of people were like, iOS has to change. It's been the same for so long. It's so behind blah blah blah.

Apple listens. They change the look, but keep it familiar.

OMG this sucks. I can't believe it.

It's the same whenever any major company changes anything. A la Facebook.

Then people get used to it.

And the whole process is repeated the next time the UI changes.
I can't remember the last time Apple released something where posters on MacRumors didn't complain and hate it. Obviously people who don't like things a much more vocal than those who do. Why people get so upset is beyond me. Just shows how spoiled we are that we can lose our mind over the look of an app icon. First world problems...not.

Yes but is it the same people? I laughed at the "iOS has to change" crowd and don't like the new look at all. i.e. I've been consistent. Although I'm sure some folks are not, many probably are.

I'm not sure if I like it, yet I can't stop refreshing iCloud in hopes of having it.

I'm an addict I tell you.

Since icloud.com is inspired by the OS X design and now was changed in the latest beta, Maverick sooner or later should also see an update if they act in a consistent manner.

I don't know if I like it though, but what I like is change after some time.

Personally i think this iOS 7 style looks much better on a bigger screen. iCloud looks really refreshing. Could be the same effect with OS X.

Wow, it's amazing reading how negative some people are when it comes to change. I, on the other hand, love this new redesign. I'm all up for change every now and then.

What I find also quite interesting is that so many of the negative comments come from people who have recently joined MR, or they joined years ago but haven't left enough comments to make it past Newbie or Member level (not all, but many).

All the things that have happened in Apple-ville in the past several years and nothing inspired these people to post a comment until new icons hit the scene, and then they had to come rolling out to complain, complain and complain some more? Really? Nothing positive to say, but rather it's better to announce your presence with a big old gripe? What a wonderful world in which we live having to deal with such lovely attitudes like those.

As for the new design, it appears to be quite fresh, and that's a good thing, though I haven't personally seen it up close yet, but from what I've seen (and the presentations I watched - thanks, Rogifan!) I like it very much, a very good change and the fact they're rolling it through everything is just how it should be.

There is no longer any doubt. The next OS X will be the next to see its interface (UI) past the flat design.

My first impressions of iOS7 were good. But this is beginning to look like 'candy, balloons and coloring books for the kiddies.'

Some of the functionality and navigation is hidden, but maybe I'll get used to it.

I don't know if I'll get used to these colors though.

If I wanted to get used to my operating system, I'd go with Windows. Sure, I hate it, but I could probably get used to it.

Everyone will get used to it.

Mail is missing delete button or i'm blind.

You have to change the settings from archive to delete (just like the old iCloud). Apparently that setting didn't transfer over as I had mine set to delete as well. Make the switch and the trashcan will re-appear.

I dig the iOS7-ified iCloud - As someone who ISN'T on iOS7 yet, this is my first exposure to the new / flat Apple design language. It is definitely different; I honestly didn't mind the skeuomorphic design, but I like this too. It seems to slot in somewhere between Android and Windows 8 on flatness... Not TOO flat (like WP8) and not TOO techno-trendy (like Android). Just right.

I don't personally understand the need for these web apps. Presumably, I have my iDevice with me at all times. Why would I need to use the web version?

for me I can use my work computer and log on and read on a larger screen. Or perhaps type Emails, Calendar Events, Reminders easier on a larger keypad than the iPhone. Also, for some odd reason, my iphone takes longer to view new mail at my parents than using their computer. Their internet connection and WiFi are kinda slow.

Of course there is doubt. OS X never got iCloud's previous all-Helvetica, aqualess button design. There is no guarantee OS X will get this.

People that dislike things are more apt to be vocal about it.

Looking at the beta.icloud.com site now...

It looks cool, but it feels really, really odd against the heavy gray gradient of Safari. One UI clashing against another.

Thanks for the tip.

interesting Beta look at iCloud.

the old calendar looked dated but i find I could glance-read it easier.
the new thin type within Mail is harder to read at a glance...than the thick/bold of the old Mail.

I guess I will get used to all this as time passes.

Oh and for the most part i thought the old look of things is a bit dated, BUT I actually liked the wooden Bookshelves in iBooks...and I guess Newstand but don't use that as much. maybe with the new iOS I will have to change my iPhone background from something other than a clean wooden tile look as that will feel "old" with the new, brighter look.

I second that. Looks quite nice on my Macbook, which I didn't expect. Besides, I haven't really seen it on an iOS device since I'm not a developer.

Maverick seems technically brilliant, but I would also like to get some new design features besides a changed wallpaper when running a new OS.
