Apple seems to be putting the finishing touches on their new iCloud service. iCloud.com has been updated this evening with a new login screen. The service now shows icons in the background and a new login that no longer is listed as "beta". iCloud.com, itself, still seems restricted to developers for the most part. There have been sporadic reports of non-developers being able to upgrade, but it seems you must have created one in iOS 5.

iCloud is expected to launch today (Wed, October 12th) alongside iOS 5 and Mac OS X 10.7.2. Apple released iTunes 10.5 on Tuesday in preparation. We don't expect iOS 5 to actually be released until later in the day. Apple has historically released their major iOS updates around 1pm eastern time.

Well this is good!! I was getting real sick of seeing the Beta tag up there for so long.

Have fun with this kids. I really think it's one of Apple's better jobs.

no way of merging apple ID's :( i have a gmail and me.com and would like to have just one ID! :( supposedly they where working on this problem guess it didnt make it in time for the launch?

No Go

Still can't get into iCloud and have it migrate from Me to iCloud.

My bet is at 12:01 AM PST.

The website is working but the services won't be working until 10.7.2 is released tomorrow.

[edit]

It might also be the version of Safari people are using.

Yay! I cannot wait, this is all so exciting!

I'm looking forward to seeing 10.7.2 too and getting some new Mission Control functionality like reordering desktops.

I really want a way to import contacts. Right now Gmail syncing with iCal is a bit flakey and I would rather enjoy the simplicity of the Apple ecosystem.

I thought we would be able to receive a @me.com address from Apples iCloud service? But when I try to register it asks me for my email instead of creating one for me.

Is it going to allow forwarding to the iCloud account? I have a mail.com account that I want to forward. Just like how the Mail app is. Will it allow me?

It's been functional since 3:00 PM Eastern Time AFAIK.
Also, there's still a huge issue that I'm coming across.
I'm trying to make the iCloud email my primary email, so I want to use it for iTunes as well. However, Apple's clingy about MobileMe or they're just slow; it won't let me change my email.

I also heard that Apple was working on merging the two. Maybe they'll be nice enough to transfer my purchase history to the iCloud account. It's MobileMe all over again. :p

It might be a good idea for people to wait for IOS 5 and 10.7.2 tomorrow because it looks like you need those first. I thought it was just a safari version thing.

O well. It's late. Tomorrow will be hectic.

This is what I get on my iPhone now:

Set up iCloud links to http://apple.com/icloud/setup (404 currently). The Find My Friends link opens the App Store which then says the request could not be completed. Find My iPhone links to the Find My iPhone app in the App Store.
