I am not on iOS 5, though I do have Lion on my Mac at home. I'm at work now, and went to icloud.com from my office PC, used my itunes login, and got access. Only Find my iPhone is "lit up", and I get the little notice at the top, but it works.

Same as for everyone. We just need 10.7.2 to access iCloud.

I keep getting "iCloud encountered an error while trying to connect to the server" when I try to login to iCloud from IE on WindowsXP.

I was able to do the move to iCloud though. And it pushed a notification to my iPhone4 running iOS5 GM. I also am apparently getting "iCloud mail" to my iPhone4 from my @mac.com and @me.com email addresses. I'm just not able to login to iCloud in the web browser currently.

Anyone else?

I seem to be having an issue with the move. I seemed to have lost all my contacts :(

If using Lion, probably a good idea to backup your iCal and Address Book before you sync with iCloud.

Both programs have export options so you can keep a copy of your data safe.

are we going to be able to delete @me.com accounts or change them? i made one during the betas and dont want it attached to my gmail account.

I have 2 Apple ID's. Only one is associated with the iPad2 ( which is not in my possession at this time because my friend has it and hes sleeping ) but iCloud for worked for that ID and I was able to locate it, and spam 5 messages to it saying for him to wake up and give me back my ipad right from the website. :D

I'm confused... I know I can't merge my IDs but I don't know which one to use for this

1) A non-Apple email account that I have used for iTunes purchases since iTunes first came out (long before dot mac or mobile me)

2) A Mobile Me account I use for syncing, find my iPhone, and other Mobile Me services.

What ID should I log in and set up with?

So i have a mobileme @me.com address that i use for all my mobileme services, primarily for syncing my ical events and find my iphone/ipad....

But my apple ID is my gmail address that i use for all my online purchasing... and have done for years.....

Guys, your answer to the "which account do I use?" question is... BOTH!

Use your MobileMe ID to log into iCloud and access your Calendar, Contacts, Backups, etc. Then you go into the Store settings and change the login info to your usual iTunes Store email.

You can continue to have and use both accounts just like before. I've been doing it this way for a couple of weeks. I can restore from iCloud backups and access all my formerly MobileMe contacts, plus I can automatically download all my purchases from the other account.

Here's a quote from the Frequently asked questions about the MobileMe transition and iCloud:
If I use different accounts for iTunes and MobileMe, can I merge them into a single account and use it with iCloud?

No. You cannot merge two accounts into one. However, you will be able to move your MobileMe account (yourname@me.com) to iCloud and, if you choose, you can continue to use a different iTunes account for store purchases and iTunes in the Cloud.

Able to login but waiting for iOS5 update!

Not sure Siri is available in iPad though it may not make sense to carry iPad out all the time.

There we go, just the answer we were waiting for!!

No worries, Siri is only available for the iPhone 4S at least for the time being. Who knows what happens next year.

Is Documents in the Cloud available now?

Also, am I correct that there will be no iDisk replacement at this time?

With iDisk, if I wanted to send someone a 500mb AVI file, I uploaded it to iDisk and then sent them the download link.

What would be the solution now?

This Siri was something I have been waiting for a while(though Voice recognition has been around for sometime). Apple known for making innovation in UI, they are now probably moving away from screen based interaction to more voice based and they have done it very well.

May be the phone size may get reduced further but the cloud performs most of the functions for you while the actual phone/equipment merely transmits the message in a friendly manner.

Bummer. iTunes songs don't download in iTunes Plus, if you didn't buy them that way!

I wonder if the iTunes Match service will do this? It says you can stream in iTunes plus, even if you didn't buy them that way, but I just tried downloading a song I bought in 2003 from iTunes on my iPhone, and it is 3.3MB. Bummer.

Drop Box? But I think you would have to split it up, I think there is a limit for the size.

I never used iDisk only Drop Box.

Thanks, that's what I thought as well. I just opened a Drop Box account.

2GB free. Not bad.

The web interface is alright, but less clean than I'd like. Sending download links to others does not present them with a simplified link but routes them to my shared folder (as far as I can tell), and then it's up to them to figure out the download link on the side.

EDIT: never mind. I figured it out.

I'm in the same boat.

Here's what I did:

Log into iCloud.com using my iTunes account Apple ID, the one with all of my App Purchases, Music, Movies, Books, and TV shows. (your option #1)

Now my main iCloud account has all of my purchases, and an empty Calendar, Contacts, and eMail... That's not great. Tomorrow I'll use my Mac and export/import all of my MobileMe info across. (I could use Outlook if I was on a PC to do the same thing...)

Aha - thanks for this - this is what I want to do (anticipating like you do that Apple might 'fix' the mobile.me account merge later).

So .. just to be clear .. when you logged in with your iTunes account and converted that to iCloud, the device you were on (Lion or iOS) didn't notice you had a mobile.me account on it you were using and attempt to get you to upgrade that instead did it? I'd read a few places which seemed to indicate there was an attempt to persuade you down that path. I'll be more than happy if I can just log in with iTunes, have that as my cloud account, and not have Apple be too helpful trying to point out I have a working mobile.me account too.

this is ridiculous. I want consolidation. All I use MobileMe for is contacts and calendar. I don't want to have to keep up two accounts, I want one.

I'm growing impatient. Been waiting all day, cmon Apple! Give me 10.7.2!

10AM Pacific.

no way of merging apple ID's :( i have a gmail and me.com and would like to have just one ID! :( supposedly they where working on this problem guess it didnt make it in time for the launch?

DO NOT DO IT!

I was thinking about the same thing but then I realised that it would be just stupid.
The thing is that the iCloud ID is now associated with so many things apart from email and iTunes/AppStore password that I wouldn't want to share it with my wife for any purchases whatsoever.

So, what I understand is that I can keep making purchases on my Gmail account and use iCloud for all the other stuff; whether its Mail/Contacts/Calendar/Documents/Backup/PhotoStream/Sharing, etc.

This gives me the freedom to use my own content personally without anyone having to disable those options in settings.
Apple may introduce a feature in the future to share one's own PhotoStream with another iCloud account; so that could work.

But for now, its in the best interest to keep different accounts for Purchases and Personal Content; works for me. :)

It depends on each ones situation.
As for me, as i use my mobile me account for app purchase/itunes, mail/calendar/contacts, its much easier. One account for everything.
