So is the HD version on iPhone(4) better than the standard version? Or is there only a benefit on iPad? The screenshots look marginally better on the HD version on the iPhone screen, but that could be irrelevant.
Strategy and turn based games would fit better with touch controls on such a small screen. A FPS game? Uh. I don't see the point.
Imagine, when this game comes to the Mac App Store and the flock of gamers download it.

Can't wait for the Mac App Store and the new Gold Rush of users developers will cater towards.

A truly dedicated Apple development company? Have you ever read an interview with John Carmack?
I wasted a dollar on the standard version because I assumed HD meant for iPad only.
Stupid me!
Game is surprisingly good.
Any disadvantage to getting the HD version for the 3GS? If not, I'd like to get the HD version so I have it at a decent price for my next iPhone!
I read on another forum from John C himself (presumably) that they wanted the HD version for only the iPad and iP4, but they were unable to restrict it from the 3GS. The 3GS suffers a performance penalty in the HD version, so it must be pushing more graphically even on the phones.
FYI - Most of the App size appears to be from the pre-rendered videos, not the actual game play.
It's no different than a console FPS. Except in this you dont' have to worry about moving around.
It works very well.

all i saw was "rails shooter" .... another id "FPS" on RAILS, just like Doom.
forcing the player to stay on rails obviously makes the whole thing much, much easier to code i'm sure.
but... it's just not the same thing as a real fps. sigh.
Quite large files. The standard is 537 MB and the HD version weighs in at 743 MB
