The iPhone 6 was not a huge update as they were making it seem like.
Very disappointing spec update for such a super hyped device.
They could easily had put 2GB of RAM and for the 6S they could just put 4 core processor. But why only give it 1GB in late 2014? and then also still have 16GB of Memory.
Apple is already super rich and they value their profit more than fans..
Just like how they will charge $350 for a watch with limited features.

This is not the Apple I am proud of...
Steve Jobs would not had let all this pricing insane. Besides I am pretty sure Steve would had demanded 2GB of RAM. He would not had liked Safari reloading so easily after 3 tabs.

My huge rant.
I hope Apple reads this somehow... I am not happy that they are treating their loyal long time fans like trash.

because you still bought it.

Really, man?

Apple has always charged a premium for their products because, in general, Apple makes premium products. This is nothing new.

As far as your RAM and other complaints go, you have no idea what Jobs would or wouldn't have thought about it so that criticism is completely empty. In fact, we know that plenty of other similar decisions were made while Jobs was still alive and CEO, so I'd wager you're wrong anyway.

Furthermore, the idea that you're getting gouged is based on... what exactly? Surely you're not just looking at component costs and forgetting the hundreds of other factors that go into the design, development, manufacture, marketing, distribution and support of the product? Because if that's what you're doing... well...

Brass tacks? It's REALLY simple: you don't like it? Keep your money in your pocket. You can wait it out until next year or the year after to see if Apple gets it right (for you) next time. Or you can jump to another platform. What isn't productive is getting so emotionally invested in it that you flame out on a message board.

Just sayin'.

How about instead of giving $100 million to U2 lower the price of the first million iPhones sold by $100.

Says the guy who is still buying Apple products.

You forgot to quote the statement that you had no rebuttal too. Don't worry friend. Here it is again:

"Does it matter how many cores, or how much RAM, a phone has when they can hang and sometimes beat their competition with less?"

You are the type of guy that talks bad about his family behind their backs and kisses their ass when in their presence. AKA....the worse kind.

Wut?

Are you sure your not confusing me with someone else?

I think your marketing department does a fine job. No need to regurgitate their reality distortion statements here.

I didn't realize calling you friend was considered name calling.

Way to continually spin arguments and dodge the facts.

Maybe, one day, you will actually just admit you are here because your life sucks and you have nothing else to do other than argue marketing specs that don't affect you in the slightest.

What an incredibly compelling case you make.

Publicly traded company = responsibility to perform for their shareholders (myself included.)

Apple makes quality products at a fair price that includes a good profit margin.

If you want cheap wait a few weeks for Samsung to get desperate again and offer buy 1 get 1 deals

Apple is a publicly traded company. They have a responsibility to their shareholders to provide value. They're not a charity. And you can't be serious about Steve Jobs demanding 2GB of ram, that's laughable.

This.

There are far more moving parts that go into the final price of a device like this than most people ever take into consideration. That's why I always find it so hilarious when people get up in arms comparing component cost to retail price.

Wow, if that is how you refer to your friends, then I'd rather be a stranger...

Once again, tries to spin one comment with the next, but can't address the initial comment or the thread topic being discussed.

How is that 2GB in your PLUS treating you? LOL!

Because fanboys value Apple and not vice versa. Apple is a large corporation with customers. It's just business.

"Here class, is an example of 'engaging in melodramatic hyperbole'."

The answer is pretty simple. We aren't the average consumer who doesn't even know what RAM is. They can put these specs on it and the phone will perform just fine and sell millions. They will sell these millions at a higher profit margin. The amount of phone sales they are losing because it only has 1GB of memory are minuscule at best. Lots of people complain but haven't seen any not buying because of it.

I agree some of these specs are subpar. There should be more ram, it should start at 32GB and the screen should be higher res. But it's not and we are still buying. Even with the handicapped specs it's still going to be a smoother experience due to the better OS. Yet another reason why they do the specs and sell millions. Most people buy Apple for either the OS or the social recognition, not the specs under the hood. Those that talk about them on the internet are by far the minority.

I just think it's funny that your base assumption is that everyone agrees that the specs are somehow sub par. I mean, "handicapped?" Overburden your rhetoric much? People buy Apple products for "social recognition?" Are you serious with that quip?

It's hard for some people to understand but tight integration between hardware and software really does have a direct impact on the physical specs. Trying to draw 1:1 comparisons between a device with software specifically coded for it and one that's using software that has to run on any number of hardware platforms is completely spurious.

Oh, and it should have a higher res screen? What? You haven't even seen it yet and even on paper it's no slouch. Sorry, but neither Apple nor any company is ever going to produce a product that's ideal. Ideals only exist in the mind.

Handicapped may have been a little heavy but subpar certainly. Even though the phone runs great it could certainly use more memory. There is a reason everyone complains about Safari reloading tabs constantly. It's either memory or a serious issue with the program. I really doubt it's the latter.

Am I serious about that statement? Most definitely. If you don't think Apple sells a ton of these things simply because they are used as a status simple your either dense or being naive. Let me guess, people are buying Beats headphone for the superior sound quality?

I may have not gotten the point across clearly but this is what I meant. They use lower specs than the competition but still have a smoother and better performing product.

I'm certainly not saying it's a bad screen. But for a company that touted Retina as a huge selling point with DPI this and DPI that they have certainly been overtaken. So yes, I say it should have a higher resolution screen.

I'm not bashing Apple or the iPhone. Simply saying if they didn't focus on saving every single cent they could they could have an even better cost for minimal loss in profit margin. Given Apple's buying power I doubt it would cost much more than $3 to double the memory.
