(1) So how many hours does it last on average? My 2009 MBP averages about 5-6 hours unplugged. I don't care about the 1gb 330m. Means nothing to me. In a year or two, even Intel's graphics will be more than enough for my uses.

(2) It's a laptop. It's supposed to be portable. I don't want to have to carry around a mouse every where I go. It's Sony's job to provide an equivalent trackpad. Seriously, it can't be that hard. Not to mention a mouse would be rather difficult to use in places I often use my macbook (like airport terminals).

(3) Doesn't matter whose fault it is, I can't get OS X anywhere but on macs.

(4) How so? It's rigid, sturdy, easy to keep clean, and looks better than anything else out there.
(1) People report 4-5 hours. Of course it's a bit weaker than the macbook 13, but it's still very good (and btw, battery swappable).
(1.5) "I don't care about the 1gb 330m. Means nothing to me"
And how should this contribute to the debate???
This means that the 330m does not add value for YOU, but we are discussion about the value of a machine in general, from an objective point of view. And having a geforce 330m in a 13 inch should be a extremely valuable aspect of a machine.
(2) Well...what I try to point out is that the main selling point of the sony Z11 is having an insane graphic performance in a portable package. However, without a mouse, having an insane performance is useless: gaming with a trackpad is pretty much impossible. Furthermore, it seems a bit harsh to say that the trackpad on the Sony Z11 is crap. I have used a few vaio in my life, and their trackpad can get the job done (it's not the best, but for surfing internet you don't need much).
(3) See 1.5: we are trying to assess the objective value of a machine here...Because if we are talking about the value of these machines for me then I would prefer the MBP: my work depends on OS X.
(4) What I am trying to bring up with "overrated" is that some people think that the unibody contribution is the most solid construction ever, because it feels solid in their hand. "Feeling solid in ones hand" is unfortunately not a good judge of the protection that a frame provide. In fact, a machine like the X201s might feels less sturdy and more plastic, but actually provides a much better protection (and does not scratch like crazy). A frame that is too rigid is sometime bad: in a worst case scenario, a too rigid frame would transfer the shock to the internal component, while a less one will be totally destroyed, but will absorb the shock.

So YOU like your Sony Z more than Mac laptops, that's great. Where you loose your credibility is with your smart ass'd remarks.

Your experience with your Z is different than mine. In my experience the Sony Z is not near as good to use a daily work horse as my 13" MBP.

The lower resolution screen on the MBP blows away the hi-res hyped Sony screen, it's so much poorer this year compared to the '09/'08 models.

My 13" MBP is much cooler, quieter, has a better keyboard, I run Win7 often with zero problems, funny thing was how much faster win7 boots on my MBP compared to the high power Z, lol.

No heat continuously blowing from the left side vent, no more poor viewing angles, the Z has a cheap feel to it, the MBP doesn't.

All I can say is I'm SO HAPPY to be rid of the Z ... as I posted earlier I tried Sony Z's three times in the past three years because of the hype I read.

Yea, they crammed a lot of power under the hood, power that in reality only a small percentage of users need, they did accomplish that. It's too bad they missed the mark on so many other details, related to user experience, quality, and day to day use.

Well, I don't know about previous Z models, but this one, IMHO, is better than the MBP, mine at least (17" AG), and also better than the MBA, which btw has wavy lines every where on the screen . It's a well known defect that Apple never cared to fix. Mine is Rev B SSD.

And I'd rather have the heat blown from that vent than using aluminum body (and thus my lap) as a heat sink.

I'm not sure who's losing his credibility here. Anyone reads your posts would think that the Z is the worst laptop ever, but *I* think it's pretty much the other way around.

Yes the trackpad on the Z could be better, but I'm getting used to it.

Anyway, I'm glad that you like your MBP.
