Just to update on my OP, I'm doing nothing. Keeping the 3.

I want a thinner and lighter iPad. That isn't coming yet. Phew, I guess.

Having said that, I may get a Nexus 7 32GB. Did y'all know the back speaker grill is stereo? I didn't! This 20 minute in-depth review of the Nexus 7 pretty much sold me: http://www.heelsandtech.com/2012/08/10/google-nexus-7-review-user-experience/
Doesn't the iPad mini being half the weight and thinner count as a thinner and lighter iPad?

Apple doesn't have to stick with an yearly life span

Just look at android devices, they get outdated in a few months all the time

The iPad 3 was a flawed device, it ran SLOWER then the iPad 2 just so it could maintain the retina resolution. It's no wonder the apple discontinued the device and put it out of its misery

Lol. Really? Are you serious? I have one and didn't know. Who the hell really cares? I am so tired of the nexus 7. It is a miserable "tablet". I am so so tired o using blown up phone apps for everything and Chrome is a freaking disaster.

It looks to me like the most popular android devices stick to the exact same types of yearly updates. i.e. galaxy s, galaxy note, nexus, droid RAZR, etc...

Which apple fanatics hate. But if apple does it then they should like it? Just asking.

No, and I understand their frustration, especially if they bought like 2-3 months ago

but Apple doesn't have to stick to the yearly cycle even though as a consumer it is nice, and I think they will go back to the yearly cycle it's just that they had to get the lightening connector in there and get the iPad back to being a powerhouse which the iPad 3 wasn't

I'll just mention that the iPad3 seems very fast to me coming from an iPad1. I never used the iPad1 much, but the iPad3 is so fast launching and running apps that it seem faster than my new MBA. I tend to prefer using it over a laptop.

Odd, it's far quicker than my A5 iPhone 4S.

People need to get a grip. There are people out there, I personally know two, who are still using the iPad 1.

Myself included - I'm using the iPad 1 until Friday - when I get the latest and the greatest iPad D:

I have a iPad 1 and it starting to get really slow now just to open safari i'am going to wait for the next iPad to come out and then get that fingers crossed it will have a bigger screen like they did with the iPhone.Ive got a iPad mini on order so that should do me for the time being before the new one comes out and in march or april time.

that's BS unless you think every benchmark was wrong and everyone has been lying but you

Benchmarks are performed to certain tests, most of which are performed by apps like GeekBench where the user doesn't see them. I use what I see in the real world with my own eyes.

iOS 6 animations are noticeably smoother on my iPad.

Chrome is definitely not a disaster.

It took me about 10 seconds to find many threads and such about how bad chrome is on android. Here are just a few from some of the most popular android message boards on the Internet.

Your blind support for android is cute, though.
