I voted 4.7. Although I havent used a phone in the <6inch range, I have a feeling that it would be to cumbersome to carry in my pocket etc. Especially when wearing jeans and not dress pants. I think 4.7 would be a nice upgrade. A little extra realestate could be useful.

Coming from a person that has owned a Galaxy Note 1, 2 Galaxy Note 2's, HTC One MAX and every other flagship Android phone. I would say 4.7" would be sweet for the next iPhone, but I say that with a qualifier. If they can get it like the Moto X, as others have said, it will be great. I absolutely love the Note 2, but eventually you get tired of lugging something of that size around. And one handed use is something that is important to me. I can force myself to get by without using one hand, but honestly it is so much more convenient. Also, while you're out and about, it's a lot easier to shove the moto x size phone + case in your pocket than a Note 2 + case, or in my situation I had an Anker 6200 mah batter, modded Otterbox Defender, and Note 2..... :p

Seriously though, I would actually buy full price off contract (Verizon Unlimited user) for a 4.7" iPhone in Moto X sizing. They can keep their phablet. I think I got the extremely large sized phones out of my system finally.

ETA: One thing, and this just may be me, but if Apple releases a phablet sized phone, it will cut into their iPad sales. When you have a phone like a Note or similar, you find it really negates the need for a tablet and a phone. It's that happy medium between the two, which IS convenient.

I haven't touched my HTC One for a week on purpose since I got a Note 3.0. I wanted to see how I felt about the bigger size and to be honest, the first few days were tough. I'm not sure how to describe it actually but now I love the size of the Note 3, guess I got use to it. I tried my HTC One yesterday and I'm not sure how I lived with it for as long as I've had it especially since my near vision isn't very good.

Why the size problems I don't know since all folks ever used for calling and be on phone conversations was always with a big handset held to their ear. The Note 3.0 isn't that big and I understand one doesn't carry around a phone handset they use in their home but an adjustment will need to be made. It is so obvious now that both smartphones and tablets are going BIGGER so get use to it folks!! :)

I'll be all over the Apple phablet when it comes out. Cannot wait.

No brainer for me. 4.7 inch would be a nice sweet spot. It might even be a tad too big. 5.7 is just phablet territory and completely out of the question. Can't use that one handed even if I tried.

I just switched back to iPhone from a Note 3. VERY nice phone, but it was just too big. I think a 4.7 inch would be a nice balance of screen size and phone size. The Note just doesn't fit comfortably in your pocket. If I want to do something with a bigger portable screen, I have an iPad Mini for that.

That last rumor, which was posted in this thread does not seem very reliable. It would be very unlike Apple to release a new iPhone before the traditional iPhone-event in September. Moreover, the report was a bit worrying, especially if Apple were to release only the Phablet (5.7") in May, and a new iPhone 6 in September (which I'm guessing could very well be 4", once again). I seriously hope there is a 4.7" device, based on the iPhone 6 architecture.

I NEED 4.7. I need my phone to be small, easy to hold in one hand and have the ability to be private when texting and viewing pictures/content.

This phablet crap is horrible. My friend showed me his note today, tried to illustrate a half arsed method of reading some book... and all I kept thinking [and saying] was I have an iPad for that.

Sure if you want a device to do a semi-good job at everything, get a phablet. Its just so un-apple to me and against the philosophy I personally use to buy any product.

If you want a phone, get a phone. A tablet, get a tablet. A laptop, get a laptop. Trying to meld devices to fill both voids and end up losing the portability, discretion or functionality of another makes no sense to me.
