Wow really? I think the white one looks really ugly here... Maybe its because I don't really like how the aluminum is just "randomly" (maybe there's a function, not sure though) there on the backplate. On the white one, it really stands out. At least on the black one you can barely notice it.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this phone looks weirdly unproportional and that backplate just doesn't seem to flow from the white to aluminum and black to whatever that is... If this is how the next one looks, I'm definitely sticking with my 4S. I was considering upgrading as soon as possible because I really want 4G, but if that's how it looks... :(

----------

However, if the whole thing was made of aluminum, by golly, would I have a complete change of heart. But sadly the renders aren't...

I agree that it looks weird stretched vertically and not the other way. The aluminum plate is an aesthetic feature I could easily learn to ignore and like most say, it'll be covered by a case by most people.

Dat black.

I love that it's all black. So sleek. Apple will probably almost always have superior hardware/design over any Android powered phone.

I love these renders. Especially the black with the black annodized frame. The more I've been thinking, the more I think the 4S would make me happy over my 4 right now. So I think whatever they do with the new model will be awesome. I agree the proportions will take some getting used to, but I bet we'll all love it in no time.

after all this time they should at least alter the home button. It's the most common complaint about the hardware. Aside from that it looks very dated and takes up so much real estate on the front. I'm not saying they need to eliminate it, but clearly we don't need one this big and it could benefit from a redesign. How many threads have been made on this forum alone regarding a non-working home button?

"Everyone said, loud enough for the others to hear: "Look at the Emperor's new clothes. They're beautiful!"

Oh come on it looks just like the last one, er and the one before that too.

Who cares what it looks like? its what it does.

Mine lives a safe life in a Griffin case anyway so gets covered up nice n cosy.

I'll be disappointed if the final release looks EXACTLY like these renders, it'd be great to still have a bit of a surprise.

I hope those finger prints on the BGR image is not representative of the final design. I'll need a case just to prevent them.

I quite like the black version, I have a white 4S at the moment, I find it hides the finger marks quite well, the black one illustrated here looks so good that I can forgive it finger marks.

Iphones are mada in China. Dont say that they are garbage.
5 looks nothing like 4/4s.:apple:

You completely missed the point...

And 5 looks nothing like the 4S? I assume you are talking about the renderings we have seen? To some degree I guess it can be left to interpretation, but saying they look nothing like the 4S is a gross overstatement IMO.

Am I the only one who thinks the two-tone looks really ugly in comparison to the solid back on the 4/4S? Is it necessary for LTE or something? Otherwise, why do it?

For one thing, an aluminium back will allow the phone to be thinner. Glass is actually pretty thick, especially when you have it on both sides.

Aluminium back case will also be more robust, and maybe cheaper to manufacture?

As for the two-tone, I'm guessing they need to have at least a small panel that is not Aluminium so that the internal WiFi/Bluetooth antennas aren't blocked. Just like we saw on the original aluminium iPhone, and on the 3G iPad models.

From the looks of it I won't be standing in line to get one.

I'll probably be one of the last to buy one.

It looks like the same design of the 4/4s albeit stretched and for all the trouble my 4 is giving me ... I won't make the same mistake twice.

Loved every damn iPhone I ever owned - ''cept this damn iPhone 4

ALuminum is also a better HEAT SINK!
(something in there must get awfully warm) *wink* *wink*

Looks very slick...according to rumor based renders at least.

If this is the next iPhone, I suspect it will be called 4S_. Maybe, 4SS (second "S" for stretch) or 4ST ("T" for Tall). Heck, just playing, but it looks too similar to a 4S. Maybe, Apple wants us to think it's going to resemble the 4S, and hit us with a surprise with a major redesign.

I agree with you seems like it just doesn't flow well... I like the concept witht the back plate but the whole concept needs be polished more..thats my opinion.

If they went with a hard anodization it would stand up to scratches pretty easily.
Better grip than bare aluminum and more fingerprint resistant also.
