This isn't true. You can one-hand use the watch if you use your nose to touch the display.

How do you interact with the AW if you are holding a cup of coffee?

I can see lots of people spilling their coffee during the learning phase when they tilt their wrist to see a new notification. The next challenge (after you learn to hold the coffee cup in your non-watch hand), is how do you hit the button or screen with the hand holding the coffee cup?

Before Reviews: Wasn't going to buy the watch
After Reviews: Considering ordering a 42mm Black Sport, but only after finding out how useful the fitness features are, in practice, for my friend who's ordering on day one.

I have a feeling that the 42mm Black Sport is going to be the most back-ordered model, so that should give me ample time to see how the watch is shaping out for people before making a final decision.

But you still need to use your other hand to respond with the OK message or push the button to respond with Siri.

No, I think you can raise the watch to turn it on, and just say hey siri and send messages etc that way without any interaction.

Thanks so much! Congrats on your engagement, Locoboof, I wish you and your fiancée every happiness. My husband and I have been together as a couple 28 years, married for almost 19 years now. It seems to have flown by! I guess it does when the relationship is solid.

Yes, my husband is awesome, very generous and kind. His sister is pretty cool, too.

There are bound to be a few hitches to the new watch but I think we early adopters will have fun with this. When I was a kid Pong came out. It seemed so revolutionary back then to have this "video game" on the TV. Then it was home computers, then smart phones and tablets. I also really enjoyed my multifunction digital watches back in the day.

So, I just could not sit this particular launch out. I am really excited. I wish hubby were more excited about it like he normally is for something like this but he's got too much on his plate to take much note of the launch. Plus, due to his career, he's had a lot of devices pass through his hands the past 20 years. He may be a bit jaded by now. I've been able to be more selective about what I gravitate toward. I only go for it if I have a vision for where I think the tech is taking me. I wasn't forced to grow up like my husband was. I still have that kid-like excitement.

But you still need to use your other hand to clear the notification or scroll through multiple notifications. And you still have to pull out the phone for the "important" notifications you "have to" respond to. I can look, clear, and respond to notifications with one hand on my phone.

I ignore 90% of the notifications that I receive. Over the years I have slowly disabled almost every alert on my iPhone as a result. When I bought a Pebble it would show any alert that was displayed on notification center, so I enabled tons of apps to show up there, but not make any sound or vibrate. I found it very convenient to have those alerts pop up on my watch and then I could reach in my pocket for my phone for the ones I wanted to respond to.

So in addition to checking the time, it'll more more convenient to glance at notifications on the Watch then it will be to enable sounds/vibrations on the iPhone and reach in my pocket the 500 times a day I get some worthless notification.

One of my favorite things about having an iPhone (and staying with iPhone) is the constant evolution of your settings and notifications.

I used to be the same way until I realized I was so overwhelmed with notifications that I didn't care about, they were just in the way. Over time, I've dialed them back to just the ones I WANT to see. Even if I download a new game, I won't let it send me notifications until I've played the game for a while and decide I want them.

Little stuff like that, along with other tweaks to settings that carry over from phone to phone are really neat to me. It's not like the old days when every time you got a new phone you had to do everything from scratch all over again. Ah, technology, I love you.

I agree, notifications have come a long way on iOS. I do really hope that "complications" make it over from the Watch to the iPhone. I would love to be able to place permanent glanceable information on the iPhone lock screen that I could easily click on to access more information.

If you watch the Verge review; the AW takes two hands to use. The hand with the watch has to be lifted up and turned towards the user; the other hand to push the button or swipe the screen. He then shows how he can read and respond to messages on his iPhone with one hand. So the AW is LESS convenient to use than the iPhone.

Oh you forgot the most important part of your statement...... Here I'll help....... "In my opinion". There ya go!!

----------

If an item is light enough for you to flip your arm around to bring up the Apple Watch screen. . . Then it's light enough to get your phone out.

I'll get Apple Watch when it's good.
You may enjoy seeing who's texted you without needing to get your phone out but please don't try and justify it in this way as your reason 'I need one because I carry items all day' is plain weird.

Check your watch while carrying your heavy item. And then what? Set down the item and get out your phone? Juggle the heavy item in your arms while holding the watch close to your face? Surely less hassle to get out your phone.

The whole thing is frankly bizarre in my opinion!

Fixed your quote for you.

My guess is he would be enjoying life using the $350-$1000 he saved, while you are playing with your...

Lol. I'll be enjoying my watch while spending more money..... I do know how to dudget so I can pay bills, pay my family, get my tech and have fun so I'll be just fine.

Before: Apple Watch 42mm SS with the Black Classic Belt

After: Apple Watch Sport 42mm Space Gray w/ Black Sport Band (Will buy the classic belt separately)

I really prefer the Space Gray color, but didn't wanna dish out more than $700 for it. I guess spending $400 Sport Version+ the band ends up working out in my favor

You think it's bizarre for u, and thats ok. But they are many people out there that have defferent life style. Who can't wait to get the AW, because they can see it having a positive impact on there way of life. The AW is not going to be for everyone, and that's ok too.

But I think it is a little disrespectful, to try and make others feel bad about there choices on the AW. Not because it doesn't make sense for your life style, doesn't mean thats the out come for others. In the end it's all good anyway.

Agree… I don't get why so many people are upset at those with opinions that the watch is worth the money. It just tells me they cannot afford to spend the money relative to their value of the watch. For me, my view of its value is equal to the money it costs, so out of my wallet it goes and onto my wrist it goes. Why would anyone care so much whether I do that… except for my wife because it's her money too… lol

I strongly recomend, that u go and watch the keynote again. If u raised you arm long enough, it will display your notifications for u and give u the option to respond, with Siri or voice dictation etc. The guy in verge review really didn't use all the AW features etc. To me this AW needs an all out review where every feature is put to the test. Which I am sure is going to happen.

If the reviews are prompting you to get the Sport version instead, you have to ask yourself why. Nothing has changed. Now in addition to having lower expectations, you're also dealing with materials you didn't really want.

This isn't a need. It's about being happy with a product. If the SS and a better band will make you more happy, then get it. It doesn't matter if the watch itself will need updates. It still needs to look good or tolerable even.

Man, it's so painful to read posts like above...Don't you think that people don't want to invest more in technologies like SS and sapphire crystal because its....GONNA BE OUTDATED SIGNIFICANTLY IN 1YEAR!...Jeeesh

My wife and I will be preordering at 12:am. Look as long as u know the watch will be Beneficial for your way of life, that's you and your wife money. Buy the one u guys want, and enjoy it.

Just watched Verge video review. Didn't really think how annoying constant notifications would be. I'm either at work or home and my phone is right there next to me facing up. Why do I need a watch? For when I'm commuting? Out at dinner? Do I need to check a tiny screen?

I was going to get one sole for the fitness but I may want to hold off to see if the heart rate functionality is as good as some of the claims. Moreover, is it worth $350+ for that function?

Can't afford it LOL.

No. Nothing to do with cost.

Merely the fact the product as it stands is completely pointless. Literally pointless. It does nothing that you can't do in equal. . And actually LESS TIME. . On your phone.

Most of the time you'll get your phone out anyway after looking at your watch as it's too fiddly to do on the watch.

I'm sorry to point this out to you

Originally would have purchased black Ss but having to wait hella long swayed me.
Then thought about sport black , cancelled that thought and decided on the stainless.
Highly doubt I will lose anything from this purchase. If they come out with a new one next year. I'll sell it on eBay with a definite return of my money back. And still upgrade ( just like I do every year with my iPhone)
To me this whole debate on what watch looks like what boils down to this:
"What's in your Wallet?"
" What's your fashion pallet?"
I've never been a follower and won't be one now. If people are happy with any kind and any color band, then to each his/her own

Isn't any watch pointless?

I was going to change to Blue Sport 38 mm up last moment changed my mind back to 38 mm SS with black sport band. It was late. I was delirious
