Apple will not let at&t do this, trust me. Pricing will be the same as it was when the 3G came out. Meaning, all current iPhone owners will get the subsidized price.

Keep tellin' yourself that...

If you're not eligible for upgrade, that's that regardless of what phone you have.
The same thing is being done on Apple's pre-order form as well.

Iphone 3g users Stiffed!!

For non-qualified customers, including existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G, the price with a new two-year agreement is $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB).

Really? You must be reading your magic ball and it is giving you bad information because the pricing that people are quoting is straight off of Apple's website so it seems that they are letting AT&T do this.

I did not get a subsidized price when I got my 3G.

I was not upgrade eligible and had to pay full price.

My AT&T account says "You are eligible for an early upgrade to an iPhone at a reduced discount"

I currently have an iphone 3G. According to AT&T, if I were to replace my iPhone 3G with another iPhone 3G it would be $299 for the 8GB or $349 for the 16GB.

Granted that's not 3GS but that's not full price for the 3G Either.

So settle down people.

EDIT:
I might add that since my girlfriend has a business account on my same account I'm an AT&T Premier customer. Don't know if that matters tho.

Please read the various other threads on this topic but you could qualify for cheaper pricing as follows (This is for my account so the date could be different for you):

As a valued AT&T customer, AT&T can offer you an early iPhone upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee. You may qualify for a standard iPhone upgrade on 12/23/2009.

* $299.00* — 8GB iPhone 3G (black)
* $399.00* — 16GB iPhone 3G S (black or white)
* $499.00* — 32GB iPhone 3G S (black or white)

This is really bad. AT&T sucks. A friend of mine with the same exact iPhone just got quoted an upgrade price of 349, while I got 500. My upgrade date would be 12/13/09.

Forget it. Nice job, AT&T. :mad:

For the 100th time. If you have had your current phone for over a year, the iPhone will run you $100 MORE. If you have had it less, you do not qualify. After 2 years, you get the full discount price. Quit this dreaming. There was a major difference between EDGE -> 3G and 3G -> 3GS:

EDGE was not subsidized, you paid more.

3G was subsidized, you paid less but the carrier recoups those charges after the FULL 2 years are up. Thus, upgrading early means carrier loses that money.

It will NOT happen, and I grow tired of this begging like it will.

If you purchased an iPhone 3G, you can get the lower standard upgrade prices approximately one year from when you purchased it. For example, I purchased my iPhone 3G on launch day (July 11) so I am eligible to upgrade to the iPhone 3GS for $199/$299 on July 11, 2009. So you do not have to wait the entire 2 years to get your upgrade.

This is what AT&T's website is telling me, which falls in line with the 399/499 pricing for current iPhone 3G subs...

Not if you "move" to another provider for a week... then port back :)

Sorry, it doesn't work that way. AT&T (as well as other providers) will just reactivate your old account if you port back that quickly. My understanding is that your account has to be closed 90 days to 6 months.

When it says "You may qualify for a standard iPhone upgrade on 07/12/2009". Does that mean the $199/$299 pricing?

Yes, but to qualify for that you must either have the 1st gen iPhone, or some other phone and your contract is about up.. If you have the 3G, they're not letting you upgrade at the full subsidized price. of 199/299

Seems that ANYONE who bought a 3G is screwed for an upgrade since it has only been out a year
Called ATT 611 and they said I will have to wait until DEC, or pay full pop for the 3GS upgrade.

(2) Requires new two-year AT&T wireless service contract, sold separately to qualified customers; credit check required; must be 18 or older. For non-qualified customers, including existing AT&T customers who want to upgrade from another phone or replace an iPhone 3G, the price with a new two-year agreement is*$499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), or $699 (32GB).

I'am not happy:mad:
