Before 2 weeks ago, I would have said yes. Now, after using an android phone, I am not sure. I love being on a mobile OS and having some resemblence of a file system. Ie: I can attch photos to MR from my phone without using a 3rd party photo hosting service.

Yeah, seems for some of us the choice is not necessarily old iPad vs. new iPad but more iOS vs. a more open system.

I expect the new iPad to come out in 4-6 month. By then we will have a better idea what the iOS develops into and what competitor tables are out there.

I recently sold off my Ipad with AppleCare / Case / Camera Connection Kit for around about AU$950, and Im glad I did as I currently have a MacBook Pro 13" (2010) and will replace the iPad with a MacBook Air and use the web via tethering to my iPhone 4. The price gap / difference between the iPad 64GB and MacBook Air is too close, which means the MacBook Air is better value as it has the fully fledged OS and larger screen, etc.

Why does MacRumors not have Buyer's Guide, Rumors by Product, or Mac Guide for iPad?

Why does MacRumors not have Buyer's Guide, Rumors by Product, or Mac Guide for iPad?

There is clearly great interest in the next version of the iPad, as evidenced in this and other threads, so there should be a Buyer's Guide and Rumors by Product for it.

Also, given the high and increasing number of iPad users, there should be a Mac Guide for it.

Can anyone (preferably from MacRumors), explain the rationale for this? It just does not make sense to me.

Yes I am gonna get one...

I am thinking its gonna have
1GB of ram
32GB SSD Model $499
64GB SSD Model $599
128GB SSD Model $699
3G in all models.
Front facing camera (2MP)
Rear Facing camera (5MP)
Retina Display.

That is EXACTLY what I told a friend of mine. It'll definitely happen. Then, I'll get the new ipad 2 since I like my ipad a lot. It DEFINITELY needs way more ram. It cant even open up a thread on this forum with too many pictures so it freaks out.

i will only buy the ipad 2 if it offers the following:

1. Retina Display
2. more Ram

Other than that i'll stick to my current one :)

I love my iPad, I'll be keeping it. However Id upgrade for more ram, faster processor, better screen, gyroscope, face time camera (only when lots of people I know use face time...) stuff like tht. I'm not too bother about takin pictures, videos or that.

An if they lower the price, I'd be really tempted :) next time I think I'll buy 32 gb Wifi + 3G model instead of 16gb wifi only :)

I know Apple is in love with their iPhone and it is a great device but i think that the iPad should be the daddy in terms of specs and features. If all they do is bring it in line with with a device that will have been for about 9 months when the next iPad is released then i wont be happy.

I got my iPad a few days ago and I'm loving it. I already have an iPod Touch 4G, Macbook Pro, and an iMac, so the current iPad is more than enough for me. I'm just going to skip next gen and wait for the 3rd gen.

Am sure its been mentioned elsewhere, but i doubt we'll see a retina screen on an ipad for 2-3 years.

They would need to really improve the gpu/cpu first.

By apple's definition, it has to have over 300 pixels per inch to be called retina display.

No it doesn't.

300 ppi was just Apple's example of the amount of pixels neccecary given iPhone's screen size and a certain viewing distance. Retina is just a marketing term describing a screen where when you cannot seperate the pixels at normal viewing distance.

On a huge billboard, this may as low as 25 dpi.

On the iPad it's more, but certainly not 300.
