Being a smaller guy finally pays off, as in saved $50. I pre-ordered a 38 sport last night and then got very concerned re: posts on here.

Just came back from the White Plains, NY store (which was not by any means crowded). I'm 5'3 and 140lb (could lose another 5 or so) and the 38 fits me very well. The 42 actually hung off the edges of my wrist a little. The Apple guy said the 38 is a better fit on me without question. So there you go, and I'm a good 24 years older than 14.

Can't wait for the 24th, I'm in the first shipment range.

Wrist size?

About 2.25 inches

Sorry made a mistake with my wrist diameter, it's about 180mm.

Wrist width is about 57mm (2.25 inches)

Thanks anyways :)

That watch definitely looks too big on you. Why didn't you post pictures of the 38mm on your wrist?

You really look like a kid with his daddy's watch on.

I can only assume that the OP checks if there is still room on his wrist by twisting his arm, so of course there will always be space, but it's really from the side, rather than on top. Even if the pictures are taken at a distance, it will still look big. Imagine a picture being taken for a family photo? How would he look years after when everyone sees the memories.

42mm in this pic

You are one of the very few on this forum that I actually agree the 42mm looks better on. Most other posts leave me scratching my head, thinking "which one of us is oblivious regarding proportion, because I confoozed."

If you are a guy over the age of 14, and you ordered the 38mm, you made a mis...

That looks huge on you IMO. Might be troublesome trying to not bang it up.

My wrist is 205mm and the 38mm looks way too small on me. Guy or girl/age means nothing though. It's all based on your wrist size. I'm guessing if you're 155mm or smaller the 38mm would look better on you. Still everyone gonna have a preference. TBH though the 42mm will look laughably large on someone with really small wrists. It would look terrible on my fiance.

The OP is 100% right, I just left the Apple Store and bottom line is 42mm is for guys and 38mm for women. Pictures totally misrepresent the watches size.

I just left the apple store and 42mm was too big for my 157mm male wrists.

LOL.

Sorry I have small wrists, I am going 38mm. My wrists are 157-159. The 42mm looked crazy.

Mine are 165mm and it fits perfectly. Goes under my shirt cuff no problem.

Yes the 42mm fit me but just seemed too bulky. But I'm not currently a watch wearer but have worn a fuelband and vivosmart which are relatively small.

I think if you are already wearing a watch and it's a larger watch the 42mm would be fine.

For me smaller is better.

Complete nonsense. I just came from a try on appointment and although I think the 42mm is right for me, the 38mm looks just fine, and I'm a fairly big guy at 6ft 200lbs.

I tried on both. My wrist is 155mm. When I took a picture wearing each, the 38 looked like the right size, but actually wearing it? It seems to small.

Lol good luck with that. As soon as I saw the 38mm in the display I was shocked by how small is was. It's clearly made for women or 14 year old boys.

Well of course this is all subjective, but after some of the comments I've read on these forums about how it was too small for a guy, I went in expecting it to look really dinky, but when I tried it on, I was shocked to find that it wasn't too small at all. I prefer the 42mm, but I can see guys wearing the 38mm with no problem.

I'm sorry, but those of you who are going on and on about 14 year old boys how tiny and ridiculous it looks on an adult male are just being drama queens.
