You do realize the 38mm looks way better on you, right? So unless you are under 14 I think your thesis needs revision.

For those of you speculating based on pics, go to a store and try the watches on. You will be surprised at how different they look on your wrist in real life

As determined as I am that I want the 38, I have made an appointment for today to try the two sizes on.
I will post later my findings but I really hate you guys for making me doubt my decision.

Okay I'm just back from my appointment and here's what I think.
The 38 is small but the issue I have with it is the amount it sits off your wrist because of the sensors on the back.
Also I don't like that apple have left the leather loop straps off the strap accessories for the 38. This makes me think that even apple have pointed the 38 towards females.
But I cancelled the 42mm order, I prefer the way the 38mm wrapped around my wrist.

The watch itself shouldn't go over the edge of your wrist. That looks way to big on you and it looks silly.

EDIT: Added more photos where the strap is actually tightened. The bands in store are the largest possible size to allow trying on and can overlap the screen.

38mm is sooooooo small. I have small wrists, and just tried the 42mm watch on here in Japan earlier tonight. See attached.

You should cancel your order and place a new one for the 42mm, shown below. Even though it looks "huge" in the photo, the other one looks puny in person.

im 24, but my wrist size is 152mm. I'm glad i stuck with the 38mm. that 42 would be huge on me.

Seriously people please get over it. Yeah we know 38mm is small and if you know watches we all know it small. For some people that works fine and they don't want a big watch on their wrists. Crazy how this forum site keeps calling the 38mm a girl size. By all means if you think ordering the 42mm is going to make you more of a man then by all means go for it...sheesh.

OHHHH... it's like the guys with the trucks that are raised way up in the air and look really stupid..... we all know that's to compensate for their little.... ;)

I'd say that looks perfectly normal, not "small."

After seeing the other photo posted, I'm glad I've ordered a watch in both sizes. Space grey sport at 38mm in the first delivery wave (4/24-5/8) and silver sport at 42mm in second delivery wave (5/13-5/27).

I'm going to the Apple Store tomorrow with an appointment to try them on. I'll see which size I like better and cancel the other.

FYI - I'm a male, 6'2" tall. However, I have thin wrists (my wife calls them tiny); 55mm across and 155mm around.

I know people keep saying guys should go for the 42mm, but most of them also have wrists at least 60-65mm across. Don't forget those of us really with thin wrists.

155mm wrist here as well, but mine are even thinner across, more like 50mm, and that may be pushing it. I'm going to go in today to check them out, but I think 38mm was a good choice for me.

Hey was legibility an issue between the two sizes? That's my main concern cause I'm leaning towards the 38.

Isn't it also true that although a particular size may look good to you but to others it may not? Are all of you just judging based on how the watch looks to you or also taking opinions from others based on how it looks from afar or a person sitting across the table?

The title of this thread obviously over-simplifies the idea, but in my experience I do agree that the 38mm is pretty small. I don't think I have huge wrists by any means (177mm) but I'm pretty tall so maybe they just don't appear as big. Anyway, I pre-ordered a 38mm because I thought a 42mm would look huge on me. Turns out I was way wrong. Even after printing out watch templates and measuring my wrist like a dork. So thanks to Apple's stupid "You Must Pre-Order Blindly in the Middle of the Night Without Ever Having Seen the Watch" approach I had to change my order today and now won't receive it until June. First world problems, I know. But this just reinforces my feeling that they should have had display units in stores for a period of time before orders went live.

Just saw some in the store, agree that 38 is small, but 42 is way to big for OP. She should have gone 38.

If you are a guy over the age of 14, and you ordered the 38mm, you made a mis...

OP is male.

Edit: unless she has really hairy arms. Also title of thread is aimed at men.

No mistake here. I'm a guy. I'm 3x older than a 14 y.o. Saw the AW in person today. Very happy I ordered the 38. The 42 was too big for my wrist.

As others have pointed out the wrist is a bone, not a muscle. So it is what it is. If you have truly small wrists the 42 is only going to make them appear smaller.

I wear a Seamaster Diver 300M with a 36.5mm case everyday, fits me exactly right. I wont be buying an Apple Watch because of it, but if I did it would be the 38mm. By the way I'm 36, not 14.

All the arguing here is pointless, your wrists cannot be changed and neither can anyone else appreciate what feels right to you. Just try it on before you buy it.

Yes, this. Ignore the trolls in this thread and listen to those who know what they're talking about.

People disagreeing with you are trolls now? Either way, this post was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. I agree that the watches look different in person. Most people are probably responding to your sensationalist, click-bait of a title. Let people buy what suits them, not what YOU think suits them.

OP needs to hit the gym more for that 42 IMO. Looks way tooooo big.

Lifting weights doesn't give you bigger wrists, bro. Wrist size will increase very minimally even if you gain muscle/fat. Spoken like someone who doesn't know what they're doing in the gym.

Being a smaller guy finally pays off, as in saved $50. I pre-ordered a 38 sport last night and then got very concerned re: posts on here.

Just came back from the White Plains, NY store (which was not by any means crowded). I'm 5'3 and 140lb (could lose another 5 or so) and the 38 fits me very well. The 42 actually hung off the edges of my wrist a little. The Apple guy said the 38 is a better fit on me without question. So there you go, and I'm a good 24 years older than 14.

Can't wait for the 24th, I'm in the first shipment range.

YOU HAVE GIVEN ME HOPE!!!! I can't wait to try on for my 38mm at 5:30pm in Yonkers. LOL

Wow, are you really short? That's... big on you. The 38mm is more likely your size..

Wrists and ankles never change no matter how much you bulk up. Anatomy.

Not so. Look the wrist of someone who works out (has muscle).
