Keeping mine. If they had made the new one thinner and lighter then I might consider it. As it is, not enough of an upgrade to bother.

If I can find someone to buy my 3 for $400 ill get the new one. $100 for an upgrade doesn't seem too bad to me. I would've gotten the mini instead but no retina, no way.

If I can't, no biggie. I'll just keep this one.

Launch day iPad 3 user - no interest in the iPad 4. I mean, it's great 'n all, but I'm not putting my iPad 3 up on eBay or crying myself to sleep tonight.

Now, the iPad mini... Yes, please.

Not trying to be rude... Can you explain the use of an iPad mini and a ipad 3? I'm still trying to decide if I actually want an ipad mini (I obviously don't need it).

i could use an iPad Mini for when i go mountain biking.

the extra weight of an iPad 3 at 1.5lbs takes it's toll on your back when you are already carrying a 3L Camelbak . people say "oh it's not that much weight" but when you are carrying it on your back for 6 hours it sure is.

the iPad Mini will also just be great for carrying around. the iPad 3 gets tiring after a while because of its weight and size.

I carry my iPad to work daily. Obviously the iPad is not that big, but I will really appreciate the lighter, smaller form factor. Same reason I chose an 11" MacBook Air. I prefer portability to CPU number crunching power. The CPU power of most devices has gotten to the point where there's not much that I personally do on them any more that needs a high-end machine.

One of the reasons I bought an iPad originally was because of the size, and the only reason I upgraded to the 3 was for the screen resolution. So no interest in the Mini here.

i bought an iPad 3, 32GB LTE-Verizon new on October 2

now i am debating what to do. i like iOS 5.1.1 with the jailbreak and BTC Mouse, i like cheap cables, i like google maps, i like the youtube iPad app, and my iPad doesn't suffer from defective screens or overheating. it actually doesn't take too much longer to charge than my iPad 2.

what i don't like is the slowness of the A5X compared to how the iPad 2 performed with the A5. games sometimes get choppy, web pages with lots of multimedia don't scroll smoothly, and it will randomly hiccup even when scrolling through apps. i know i would greatly appreciate the performance improvements with the A6X.

being within the 30 days and knowing i would most likely get approval from Customer Service to do an exchange/store credit...i am torn on what i should do. i know an iOS 6 jailbreak will eventually come, as will google maps and a youtube app...but do we know how long that will take? also, i have 30 pin cables at work, in my car, in my briefcase, in my backpack, on my desk, near my bed...the list goes on. to even replace half of the cables that i have in the important places will run me an extra $95. who knows when monoprice will start carrying legit Lightening cables. i'm not worried about future proofing since the Lightening cable won't provide any real benefit to the consumer from an adaptability standpoint for probably another year. by that time, the iPad 5 will come out and will most likely be a radical redesign (of which i would buy).

talk about 1st world problems...

I like the iPad mini, but I'm not buying it. I don't have an iPhone 5, so I don't want to use two different cables. I'm content with an iPad 3 and an iPhone 4s. I wonder if Apple updating products every seven months will become a trend?

I really love the size of my iPad 3, mostly because I'm a student and it's large enough that I can use it as a substitute to my MBP when I go to class, and I can comfortably type on it.

I do admire the iPad mini's size for reading, though. It'd make a much more comfortable e-reader, so I think after I finish school I'll switch to a smaller sized iPad. But as of right now the iPad mini is too similar to the iPhone in size (which sounds so silly, I know) for me to justify incorporating it into my lifestyle. I don't feel like it has as workable of a workspace as the iPad 2/3/4 (as I do a lot of word processing with Pages, video and photo editing, and drawing with Sketchbook and need more screen space), so I would only really use it the same way as I currently use my iPhone (light web surfing, Facebook, Twitter, email etc…), which would feel like a waste of money for me.

Of course this is all personal. So whatever you choose is really down to your own lifestyle. If you do a lot of work that needs the real estate that comes with the larger screen, just get the full sized iPad. If you don't see yourself doing much in the realm of video/photo editing or word processing, and want a nice sized e-reader or internet surfer, then the iPad mini would probably be a better option.

I have an iPad 3 and I love it. I am by no means frustrated by the news of the new iPad 4. I mean why would I be? It's completely the same but with an A6X processor which I'm very sure is not a very noticeable feature when used, but despite that, A5X is still fast and powerful (yes not as fast as the new one but why care?!), and they've added a lightning dock and upgraded the front-facing camera, so what?! It still looks like the 3rd gen iPad. The screen is the same, they both have retina displays, both batteries last for 10 hours, it comes ready with iOS 6 but I'm pretty sure you can manage upgrading manually or do you want everything made ready for you , it still does everything the iPad 4 would do. I honestly don't understand some of the useless threads that have been created just to complain about this. So I say stop being naive and silly and enjoy your iPad 3!! It still is a great product.

Perfectly happy with the 3, contrary to what I keep reading, it is still working exactly like it was yesterday before the 4 came out.

Had the original iPad, sold it got the 3. There is no conceivable reason to upgrade now as both have all the same functions. Apple simply wants people to change again because they want to phase out the 30 pin connector.

I'm still quite happy with my 3. Had the new one been lighter I would be upset but the new processor isn't that big of a deal right now.

But I was torn over the mini. I really want one that size. However I think I'll wait to see if it only has 512mg of RAM. I bought my 3 because my 2 was crashing so much after 5.0. Lots and lots of low memory instances. I know not everyone had that issue but I'm not willing to pay that much on the chance I won't see it again.

Guess my wallet will survive this fall after all.

Keeping mine

I'm keeping mine since I'm also sticking with the 4S and dock connector until the next refresh. I will get one for my wife to go with her iPhone 5 so she'll have the same connector on both

Really happy here with the 3. It does everything i need. And the screen is still unmatched.

I was annoyed yesterday, but on reflection it's no big deal for me. I was going to skip the fourth generation anyway and I don't play any resource intensive games for the new processor to matter. It's annoying having to use a different cable to charge my iPad and iPhone 5, but that's nothing really.

I skipped the 1 and 2 because I wanted a HD screen. Then the three came out and perfection. Currently I have no reason to upgrade, to what...a new connector, a faster chip meh nahhhh I'll pass..

Im fine with my 3 but obviously Im a little gutted considering I spent over 900 when I got my iPad 3 and its accessories 4 months ago.

From this point forward I will NOT be purchasing an iPad unless it introduces a processor update and I am fine waiting for the next one.

Fortunately for us 3 users they did introduce new products with the A5 processor so the 3 should have plenty of life left.

To be honest I dont know which is more annoying, the people that expect Apple to hold off updates because they bought the iPad 3 or the people that never bought the iPad 3 complaining about the complainers.

I'm still happy with my 3 as it does everything I need. I don't have a use for a faster processor and the lightning connector.

Having slept on it, I really don't see what the problem is 3rd Gen is still a very good machine Apple shafted people as they could of brought these changes in march (I bought mine in August) but they wanted to rake in the cash.

The new 4th Gen is a spec bump and different connector, NO change in form or how it looks apart from the new pin.

So all in all Apple is expecting people to run and purchase he new iPad with A6X based on the fanboy antics they have seen across the world. People should vote with their wallets and not buy if you have a 3RD Gen the difference will be minimal.
Apple are likely to take the iPad 5th Gen same way as iPhone and iPad mini, In this I mean slate for black version etc. Ill wait for that and pick up that version and the 2013 iMac as the specs on the NEW 2012 model is low in terms of lower HD speed, Plus I just bought high end iMac in feb, I was looking to purchase new 2012 iMac but non upgradeable Ram price increase etc has put me off until I get more bang for my buck for the 21.5 model. Thinness is not an issue for me on a desktop
