I skipped the 1 and 2 because I wanted a HD screen. Then the three came out and perfection. Currently I have no reason to upgrade, to what...a new connector, a faster chip meh nahhhh I'll pass..

Lightning connector is a huge turn off for me this year. The way it all panned out is just chicken sh#t of Apple. Not allowing 3rd parties to know ahead of time so they can develop accessories and then cornering users to their overpriced conversion adapter.

Another happy customer. I've had my iPad 3 since launch day and it still does everything I need it to, and I don't want to move over to the lightning connector yet. Admittedly I'd be a bit fed up if I'd bought it a month ago, but I don't think early adopters have any cause to complain.

Very happy...

Very happy with my Ipad3,I don't care if there is an IPad 4.Ipad 3 still works fine,I will upgrade it,if the storage will come in 128/256gb and comes in different colors aside from black and white.:p

Undecided

I wouldn't be debating if I hadn't already experienced the speed difference in the A6X chip. It is impressive in the iPhone 5.

I'm pretty satisfied with my 3rd gen. I bought mine right after the release date. The only thing is not great is the GPU performance for intensive 3d gaming but it's still perfectly usable. I'll hang on to my ipad until a new gen becomes thinner and have faster charging. I'd like it to be able to charge from 5% to 50% in 30 minutes and do a complete charge in 2 hours like my macbook pro.

Launch day iPad 3 user - no interest in the iPad 4. I mean, it's great 'n all, but I'm not putting my iPad 3 up on eBay or crying myself to sleep tonight.

Now, the iPad mini... Yes, please.

I agree. I do not feel cheated either. I have had the pleasure of using this awesome device for 7 months. I love it and will love it till they make it thinner and lighter!

Completely unphased by the updates. My 3rd Gen iPad will stand the test of time against this modest update. Would love an iPad mini, but I'm not going from retina screen to a non-retina screen. I'm too spoiled by the clarity. These whiners make those Samsung Galaxy commercials about iPhone owners look accurate.

I'm still very, very happy with my iPad 3 and I'm not bothered by the release of the iPad 4 now. If the iPad 4 came with 128GB of storage I would be getting one but the changes it does have don't warrant upgrading. Hopefully the iPad 5 will have 128GB of storage as I am filling up my 64GB.

I prefer to upgrade every other generation anyway and Apple releasing the iPad 4 now makes me happy as it brings the release of the iPad 5 closer - either 6 months or 12 months from now :D.

However, I am very tempted to get an iPad mini, not to replace my iPad 3, but as an additional device for times when I want to travel light and use a smaller bag. I do photography as a hobby and I have a few different camera bags for different occasions. Some of them aren't big enough for an iPad, but will nicely carry an iPad mini.

Reality check:

My iPad 3 is just as good today as it was a week ago, and will not suddenly stop working, so why all the drama.

Yes, I'm a little peeved that it has been superseded so soon, but it hasn't affected the functionality of my iPad, and all the apps will continue to run!

Chill :apple: ;)

Still happy with my iPad 3. Got mine on launch day. I mainly view movies/TV shows/Hulu on mine, as well as games, and the Retina Screen is really great. Would've been nice to know a slightly faster model was going to be released 6 months later but, oh well.

I am immensely happy with my 3rd gen iPad. upgrading to the 4th gen has no appeal. the iPad mini is intriguing and I will probably purchase one.

I still love my iPad 3. It's as great as it was two days ago, before the Apple announcement.

A close friend just bought an iPad two weeks ago. I'd feel differently in that situation and would return it.

Here's the $24K question --

Did Apple just reset the iPad release clock, similar to the iPhone last year

or

Will we see an iPad 5th gen in the spring

That is the only thing that kind of torments me. (Strong word used very loosely. It doesn't keep me up at night). If we aren't likely to see another new iPad until this time next year then I'd probably take the hit on my iPad 3. Of course no real way of knowing.

But can Apple really push out two iPad models a year. I can't see a whole lot of people getting ginned up over speed bumps, and there go Apple's famous launch day lines.

It wouldn't surprise me if Apple tried to unify the iPhone/iPod/iPad launch event into one event towards in September next year. that might be why the refreshed the full size iPad now, that way when next year rolls around they can do a unified refresh...

On one hand I see the logic of focusing the refresh around holiday season, but on the other, it's gotta create some chaos to Apple's quarterly earnings since the refresh schedule will be so back loaded. (Of course, unless they have an all new product to show off around CES time). Hmmm.

I'm writing this comment like a pleb on my obsolete iPad 3. The retina screen doesn't seem so sharp when viewed through tears.

Obsolete would be an HP Touch pad or a RIM Playbook.

You know, something that is no longer sold, supported, or wanted.

I love my old new iPad 3 just as much this minute as I did yesterday at 10:00am PST.

The only thing that will upset me with this 6 month cycle update is if my iPad is no longer supported with the "new features" contained in the next iOS.

I'm still happy with mine (besides the fact the microphone is broken again but that could happen with any model).

I don't care about a faster iPad, this one is plenty fast. I don't play games on it ever.

What I do care about is having more battery life and a lighter one (preferably at least as light as the iPad 2 or lower) but the new one isn't better in that regard. Presumably the A6X is a bit lower in TDP but I've noticed the screen is the biggest power drain in the iPad 3, the brightness slider has a tremendous effect on battery life, dropping well below advertised values. My iPad 1 was much less dependent on brightness and always achieved very good battery life.

I don't see this changing until they move to the IZGO screens. I will get myself an iPad mini for travelling I think, the 3 is too heavy for travelling hand luggage only.

Nope I'm still happy. Has all the same features and runs the same OS and apps. And it runs just fine so ill upgrade again when the new iPad is as thin and light as the mini. :)
