I thought iPhone was about the best user experience. iOS 11 seems to be problematic for lots of people, but that's another story.

Now, this notch that protrudes into the screen. It protrudes into the screen.

It protrudes into the screen.

iPhone's differentiation was never really about the look of the front aside from the round home button.

But the round home button did not protrude into the screen.

I've never seen a screen on a computer-like product where this is the case other than that one new phone that's camera has a small camera protrusion, which I find distracting as well.

It's pure **** design to try to make the phone bezel-less. Which is stupid in the first place because it's merely trendy.

And that notch is a huge, distracting bezel that protrudes into the screen.

A screen shouldn't have anything that isn't cleanly uniform and blocks content. Just my opinion, of course.

I’m just saying if you’re a shareholder of a public company you should voice your concerns. Thanks for saying my opinion sounds idiotic. May others be as courteous to you as you are to them.
“I don’t like the notch” is appropriate. Declaring the notch is hideous and there’s no other way to see it, as you did... ridiculous.

If notch really bothers you THAT MUCH why don’t you just get the iPhone 8 instead. Just because some people don’t like it doesn’t mean no one should be able to have it un-letterboxed. I’ll admit, it is kinda weird, but I’d imagine you’d get used to it over time, then you can just enjoy the massive screen for what it is.
However, I do think the replacement for the home button could have been done better. Like perhaps a 3D Touch thing instead of a swipe. Then the ordinary swipe could be kept for the control centre.

I love all the armchair designers piling up with a design critique....lol.
I’m reserving my opinion until I have a chance to experience directly the new design.
Rejecting something based on news reports is not the sign of someone who understands anything about experience design.

People don’t realize the notch has always been there man.. the screen has always has this stripe of carrier info, date, time, signal strength, etc OBSCURING content beneath! Effectively reducing the viewable screen area for the content you’re focusing on. But guess what, people’s brains adapted and you don’t even see that stripe unless you focus on it and deliberately want to see it.

To now advocate that we want the stripe back, we want to make the screen even smaller, because we don’t like the ears made by the notch...lol.... it implies that something you have ignored for generations of iPhones now is so suddenly super important that the lines cannot be broken. Sort of hilarious. My recommendation is give it a few weeks in live real life, outside of zoomed in static photos highlighting it. Use the phone in the real world doing real things and tell me in 2weeks if you even notice the ****ing notch anymore.
