If I tested and liked that new Nokia phone's functionality, I'd choose that. It looks so sick.

Agreed. Gives Apple a serious run for the money in terms of aesthetics.

Now if it ran the latest W7 OS I'd consider it. I tried Android, and it just didn't quite do it for me. Still curious about W7 mobile though, and this would be the kind of phone that would convince me to give it a shot.

Just wonder what you guys would do if you had to choose a different phone (other than the iPhone) to use.

Of course I mean a current phone as of today. If your in the U.S. then obviously not a Galaxy S II or any other random future phone ;)

So... what would it be? :)

Greetings and Welcome to 2011, where we live in a world economy, a global marketplace, and phones like the Galaxy S II which I have had for over one month, are indeed current models.

Just because they are not carried at the local mall means nothing.

I work online, I shop online, and I save tax online. It took a mere three days from the time I ordered mine until I received it. I've already optimized it to my liking, and find it an absolutely exemplary Android Smartphone

Fast, fun and with the best battery life so far for a wide, large screen smartphone, I could not be happier. Run times on the standard battery are exactly as they are on my iPhone 4. Perfectly acceptable. And that's with very heavy daily usage.

That said here is another fact... And what I, as a long time Apple enthusiast would like to see.

If Apple would gear up and do what they do best, what I _KNOW_ they are capable of, which is to engineer a really great new next gen iPhone (which they may indeed be readying for the coming months) I would love nothing better than to be able to advocate for the excellence of the new model.

My passion runs deep for Apple, and thus when they do less than I know they are capable of, I am very outspoken about it.

I am not an Apple fanboy or apologist, I don't just regurgitate the company line as they would want.

This Apple enthusiast has a mind of his own, with the formal education and experience to match, my mind is not influenced, nor programmable by a certain CEO.

But rather I evaluate the product and if it's excellent, I am their biggest supporter and advocate.

I have a lot of new Mac Gear, it's what I enjoy, buying the latest in MBP's MBA's, and Mac Pro's since I use their gear for work and personal.

While I can heartily endorse their computers sans a few idiosyncrasies, it's my iPhone 4, that has stuck in my craw as far less than Apple's best effort.

That aside I am going to step back a bit, instead of accelerating ahead (as in the past years) with early adoption of new products in the coming months, and take a wait and see (reading all reviews and feedback here) on iCloud, the gradual convergence of iOS, and OS X, and see how this plays out.

Where once I maintained confidence in Apple and rarely experienced a huge disappointment like the iP4 brought. Antennagate and how it was handled re-framed how I look at and think about Apple. When a CEO speaks in a condescending manor to the very customers that fill his coffers, I find that completely unacceptable.

I do believe that if Apple listens closer to customer feedback, makes the needed adjustments to it's course, this will bode very well for an even brighter future.

Just think, they are already slaying the dragon, why not get really open to customer feedback, listen and adjust, then sit back and watch the sales skyrocket even faster than they are now.

That's my 4 cents :)

I tend to like the Droid Incredible as it is about identical in size to the iPhone 4. I came close to picking it back in September when I got my iPhone 4 but it didn't come with Froyo at the time:confused:.

Your loss Google  and my gain! :apple:

Xperia PLAY. Had one before I exchanged it for the iPhone 4 after seeing the iOS5 video.

It's a great device. Has gingerbread already, and the battery life is very good for an android device. Only downside is low memory space for apps.

Probably a Palm/HP phone because of the OS.

I've never used any of those other phones, though, so I couldn't say for sure. But you're asking and that's where I'd start looking.

If that didn't end up being as good as I thought it was then I'd probably look at Windows phones next.

Same here. I loved Palm OS back then. Too bad they lost most developer support. If WebOS (Palm OS successor) was supported as well as iOS I probably would own a Pre or similar phone.

The Motorola Triumph. It's not out yet, but will be soon.
Honestly, I think the iPhone is one of the better phones out there and that's why I'm paying for it with AT&T. It's worth having. If I couldn't have an iPhone, then there isn't much point paying the same price bill for something I don't like as much.

With the Motorola Triumph (Virgin Mobile), unlimited data, text, and 300 minutes for $25 a month is an awesome deal. Plus, you can install something from the Android marketplace to allow for free tethering. Virgin Mobile runs on Sprint's network so it's mediocre. Good enough for my needs at least. It even has the similar specs to the HTC Thunderbolt (snapdragon, etc).

Definitely this.

Too bad it is only on Verizon so far and only way I can get it for GSM is unlocked. I will wait out for its successor and just start saving money for the Vita. Xperia Play may not have the best hardware out there and I am little ticked it can't connect to PSN, but it can be such a nice back-up to the iPhone 4 and PS Vita! If the PLAY can be $299 or less by next year, I may get it. I don't really need multi-core to run old school games. I just need the buttons.

I can live with "downgrading" to another smartphone. All I really need is internet browsing, solid camera, and a few decent apps. Not an app whore like before. Don't need all the bells and whistles. I think my next phone will be unlocked or more carrier-based because of the expensive data plans. I would really want Xperia Play just because I am craving to play some old school games I haven't played in decades like Mike Tyson's Punch-Out! I can play 2-D Super Mario games every single day for the rest of my life and would never get bored with them.

Well put, maclaptop. I'm very curious why anyone here (3 to be exact - I +'d you) would vote you down. Says a lot about the openness of the community.

I think this September will tell the tale. Apple can really impress and knock our socks off, or they can ride on past glory. If they chose the latter it bodes a return of the Apple past where they spend all their time looking inward and become a niche market again.

They're riding mighty high right now, but after September the honeymoon may start to wane.

Tough call. I'd really have to wrestle between the HTC HD7 (actually really enjoyed playing with it even though it has WP7), Samsung Infuse 4G, or Galaxy S2.

If iPhones didn't exist, probably a Blackberry Bold. I feel like Apple is the only company who has a touch screen responsive enough compared to everything else so I'd want a phone with buttons.

I have to say, the Incredible is my favorite non-iPhone phone so far.

It's light, fast, smooth, has nice sound, fantastic GPS, and even its optical trackball is handy as heck when navigating web pages with one hand.

The only bizarre thing about it at first, was the inability to use its internal 8GB for apps. Then the Froyo update allowed most apps to go on an SD card, so now people just use the internal memory for photos.

I later "upgraded" to an Incredible 2 just for a larger screen, but I miss the original model's better audio, AMOLED screen, trackball and unparalleled GPS speed.

There are a lot of Incredible users on forums who swear they'll never want another phone :)

Samsung Infuse, but mainly because I'm stuck in an AT&T contract. Im up for an early upgrade again and it caught my eye. Still waiting for the next iPhone though.

I would probably grab this too, only to save some money, $40 unlimited data, text, and 1200 min

i still have mine but i do prefer the iphone for battery life and wayyy better video

It would be an Hp veer or nokia n9.
For ten years, I used to switch out phones about every six months because I was never happy with any of them. That all changed in 2007 :D

I didn't vote him down, but when there is massive media backlash at a so called problem like antenna gate, when my own usage shows much improved reception, it says a lot more about the media than anything about the company's products.
