Yeah... ok...

Used Unlocked 8GB
w/ 2 Otterbox Defender cases, new ver and old ver
$395
Had small nicks on the back and small scratches on crome

I almost put mine on ebay, had the listing ready, but I clicked submit there was a warning that said paypal may hold on to the money until I was left positive feed back or there was no dispute for 21 days. That put me off.
Someone could buy the phone try to unlock it and brick it then say I sold a duff phone. Too cautious?

Paypals holding my money...

I have a guy in a neighboring town willing to meet me and do an exchange for cash (obviously I would be smart enough to do so in a public place and bring someone along). He has 98% positive and a feedback score of 2400, so he seems legit. I'm awaiting a response from him on how much he'll offer now.

I set the minimum bid at $245, and haven't gotten any bids in two days (though there are still 8 days remaining). Is this normal?

Also, does it cost anything other than the listing fee to remove an auction from eBay? I'm thinking that if this guy offers me at least $300, I might as well take it, but if there is some sort of "de-listing" fee, I'd want him to cover that.

Anyone with any knowledge/suggestions/advice?

For a 10-day auction, the odds of you getting any bids before the day 5 mark would be rare. People don't want to jack the price up for themselves if they bid too early and open up the floodgates.

I think I would meet the guy if he's willing to pay an amount you approve of, but I would also not meet him until a day or two before the auction ends, just to see where the price is by then.

If you're willing to stop the auction, you could do it an hour beforehand, so see which would allow you to make the most money.

Huh, I've never been to Abroad I wonder if it's nice.

Hi, I'm sorry if this is off topic, I just joined the forum and I'm thinking to upgrade the iPhone when the 3G comes out, I have the current iPhone.

I just went to AT&T today and ask them the following question:
1. If i sell my iPhone on eBay will i have to pay the termination fee?
Ans: No,because I'm not using the plan, not cancelling the phone plan.

2. How much more do I have to pay for the 3G iPhone plan rate?
Ans: It should be the same as you pay the $20 data plan, so you dont need to pay any extra for the 3G usage. (Is that true? I went to Sam's clus where they have the AT&T counter and they tole me that iPhone will have another new rate plan.) I am quite confuse, can anyone clear this?

good questions, but just like the weeks leading up to the first iPhone launch, AT&T is clueless and you'll get different answers about their plans and activations depending on who you talk to. It's best just to wait until the launch and announcement/confirmation of data plans.

Alright, thanks for the reassurance. I think I scared the guy off by telling him I was hoping to get $350 for the package, because he stopped responding. Whatever, I wasn't going to tell him $300 or less and have him try to talk me down.

A little less than 6 days left now, still no bids, so I just wasn't sure if it was normal for long auctions or if people were scared off because this is my first transaction or whatever. Thanks for the help.

No problem, I plan on selling mine within the next couple days on eBay...

Just out of curiosity, how many members do you have watching your iPhone?

Just 3, but there's still 5 days and 20 hours remaining. Is that abnormally low or about right?

I set the auction to end at 8:30 on Sunday night so that I can get it sold just before value inevitably drops on Monday morning.

I sold my 4GB that I got on launch day a few weeks ago for $220. Could have gotten more but the screen had a crack in it.

my auction for my unlocked/jailbroken refurbished 2-month-old 4gb iphone ended on monday at $385. i was willing to ship worldwide, but it sold to someone in georgia, which was a surprise - i was certain it was going to go to someone in a country where the iphone has not yet been released...

Damn!
When I see things like this, it makes me a little surprised my iPhone still doesn't have any bids (even with 5 days left). It meets the same description as yours, but 8GB instead. When did the bidding really pick up?

my reserve wasn't met until a couple of days in, but it really picked up on the 2nd to last day. do you have many watchers? i got a ton of questions in the last hour before it ended - weird how people wait until the end just to ask a question. i think offering worldwide shipping is key as well...

Mine was a ten day auction, but rather than setting a reserve, I set the minimum bid at $245. I'm also offering free shipping worldwide. There are about 5 and a half days left right now, 3 watchers, and no bidders.

I've been contacted by two people who live close about buying it, but was only offered $250, so I politely declined.

How long did your auction run for?

Word to the wise, I recommend a 3 Day buy-it-now auction. Put it up on ebay with free shipping to US only (or your local country) for a resonable buy price. All three of mine sold this way no problem. If you are doing auctions, get ready to relist as I have heard and seen a lot of auctions end with dead beat bidders with no feedback. Best of luck everyone.

EDIT: I don't think long auctions on this type of device is needed. There are a lot on ebay and all will sell for a reasonable market price.

I have been seeing the following as reasonable.
$550 - 16gb used/refurb
$450 - 8gb used/refurb
$600 - 16gb new
$500 - 8gb new

i set my starting bid at $1.00 - i've found that encourages people to bid since it seems to let them think they can get a good deal on it (though my reserve was set at $200, which is how much i paid for it). mine was a 7-day auction (monday to monday). you can see it if you'd like - i posted it in the marketplace forum here (just search for all threads started by me in my profile)...

Free shipping worldwide. You are really going to eat that cost. With the price you have to pay to Paypal and after paying the ebay and shipping fees you're going to be down 30-50 bucks.

Congrats on the $385 price, it's been a while since I sold my iPod on ebay (40Gig when that was top of the line). Would you mind posting the ebay fees and paypal fees for that particular auction? From what I remember, I lost 10-20% on fees when I sold my iPod.

sold my 2 month old unlocked 8gb refurb for $400 to canada.
seeing some of you guys selling yours for more makes me wish i did too! but ah well, made more than what i originally paid and bought a 16gb refurb with the sale and pocketed a few bux to boot.
