Again, do you actually read what you're writing?

I have a 2016 MBP.. I have zero issues with the keyboard. None. Zilch. Nada. So, right there, your overly generalized statement that *ALL* apple laptops are lemons is shown to be nothing more than an oversimplification, and an outright lie.

Apple is warrantying their keyboard for 4 years. That's the reason you claim cars that are LEMONS aren't as big of an issue.. Apple *IS* repairing the keyboards, if needed. But, a company as large as Apple isn't just offering up a 4 year warranty for ***** and giggles... They're doing it because they know the failure rate is WAY lower than you are trying to claim it is.
[doublepost=1558987936][/doublepost]I have plenty of issues with my 2016 MBP keyboard. The point isn’t about making excuses for Apple here. It’s the fact that it’s obviously flawed, and they aren’t bothering to address it in a definitive way. They make minor changes, year over year.

For a company Apples size, they could have released the 2018 or 2019 model with an updated keyboard and worked out the issue. We get a half assed solution to a well known problem - is not a great advert for Apples focus on customers.

I have fixed my MBP 2016 keyboard twice and paid $1000 (Apple refused to pay), and now it is broken again.

I tell all my friends to not buy MBP until this has been fixed.

because issue has been overblown by the media which has affected sales and the macbook brand
No, not this time. This issue has been vastly underblown by real media. The keyboard has been revised 4 times in 3 years in an effort to mitigate the original flawed design. It hasn't worked yet.

And the worst part is that no one even particularly likes the keyboard when it works.

Simply not true. Tomorrow or the next day, you'll have a key stick and realize everything you're spouting is nonsense. The problem is an inherent design flaw. Do you know what that means? It means that 100% of machines are affected. If yours isn't showing symptoms, there is a reason. But it can and will, if used enough. There is no such thing as a 2016 - present MacBook Pro keyboard that is immune to the issue.

underblown? no. unless you have hard statistics on the number of people affected, i disagree. it’s overblown like the antenna gate. is there a problem? sure. does it affect the majority of users? no.

It certainly affected quite a large number of users. Large enough to:
1- Have more than one class action lawsuit
2- Apple apologized to users about the problems.
3- Apple revised 4 times the same keyboard design.
4- Apple include the recently released 2019 MBP into their keyboard repair program.

A laptop that was best in class has become a running joke. Apple refuses to change the design 3 years now despite all the problems trying to do cheap fixes that has NOT been working for the fourth time. And in top of that expect to pay premium top dollar.
It would be like paying top dollar for your Ferrari, with an upgraded motor, but you can only turn left due to problem with your steering wheel.

Apple's greed has become so obvious, that Tim Cook has destroyed the good name Apple used to have about computer reliability and design.

You can't speak for others and denote what they like or don't like. There are millions of customers and it is safe to say that some do enjoy the keyboard just like how not everyone loved the old keyboard.

No, it doesn't. If 100% of the machines between 2016 and 2019 were affected Apple would have some pretty gnarly losses on their 10-K and they would be under pressure to just do a flat out exchange once they solve the problem. if you look at Apple's 10-K you'll see that their warranty claims are actually going down... Yet if what you say is true shouldn't this be rising?

Hi guys,

I just want to give my feedback here, since I see a lot of fans of previous keyboards.

I have a mid-2015 MBP, and for now a year, I have many problems with keyboards :

1/ The used letters gets white (that's not a big deal, we can change it easily)
2/ Some letter gets their cone broke, which leads to unresponsive key, repeating keys, etc... (I tried to re-glue it, but it finally breaks again...)

So no, the previous ones are not perfect at all...

I will probably change it, I'm just facing a difficult choice : Buy a 2019 model, more expensive than ever, with probable keyboard issue again... Or go back to linux... :(

The 2019 keyboard feels and sounds quite different and better than the 2017 MBP and the 2016 MB - definitely a better used experience for me.

From a repair tech's view: After a design has gone through 2+ iterations and it still has problems, it's time to reconsider the entire design. Just modifying parts that break isn't enough. They may need a whole new design. If it means making the laptops a tiny bit thicker, so be it. It's not a Tardis.

Those are laptops that catered for the real professional user, not this weird version of a professional that Apple thinks exists.
Well I suppose today, the only Professionals that use Apple MBP's are fanboys and Youtubers, not actual professionals.

I think the Pros migrated to ThinkPads after the past few years of disappointment.

ThinkPads still have the best keyboard I've ever used, both the chicklet keys and the original keyboards when they used to be owned by IBM.

The trackpads on the other hand....

Windows laptop trackpads are nearly there. I'd hoped they would have copied Apples trackpad by now but assume a lot of patents are involved.

My ThinkPad W541 is probably the best Windows trackpad I've used, but Apple has been the best so far, especially when it comes to scrolling!

Hey I am a little insulted by that. I am a real professional that usings Mac book pro. Now to be fair I am also an iOS developer so it is kind of required to use a Mac.
That being said I honestly like my personal 2015 Mac pro for the ports on it compared to my 2018 work one that only has the 4 ports.

Apple needs to put more ports in their pro line and for the love of God give me an hdmi and at least 1 usb a
