Washington is on the quarter, not Jefferson.
It's sad to me how underrated Apple's design and engineering are. The company is constantly criticized for "costs more, does less" and "overpriced" and "outdated." But looking at the x-rays comparing the different tracking devices, it's immediately obvious how much more thought went into designing AirTags than the products that came before it. The other two look pedestrian, and the internal components are just placed wherever. In the AirTag, the layout of everything inside has been deliberately placed so that no space is wasted, and there's a beautiful symmetry to everything.
I want a wallet version for sure.
MagSafe Apple walletThese work perfect in my wallet 🤷🏻♂️
You seem to know more than the talents a multi-trillion dollar company is able to hire. Are you an industrial designer? Or a marketing expert who has done extensive work for Apple? How do you know having a loop is the way to marketing success? You do realize that if the thief gets farther than 100 meters, its useless?
A loop on the edge would not harm structural integrity or moisture protection one bit.

If you had shown me these three images, and i had no idea when these devices came out. I might assume the Samsung and tile are cheaper knock-off copies of the Apple device. This x-ray is a perfect example of 3rd party/Samsung/apple device… Like good/better/best.

I happen to agree with the other person. I don’t want a loop on my AirTags, because I have multiple places I want to use the product where a loop would be useless.
The only place I need an attachment for is my keychain, which I already ordered a $3 holder for. It will not only secure the AirTag to my keychain, but also provide some protection from bumps, which an ugly loop won’t be able to do.
consumer electronics before Apple:-

Both of those were created before USB had any sort of comparable function. Heck Apple even helped design usb-c connector with functions like reversibility that they pioneered in their lightning (not claiming there was no other reversible plug before lighting, but Apple definitely popularized it).
I’m sure that file transfer and power delivery was possible over USB at the same time as the Apple developed connectors. Apple made a mint on MFI accessories because of the licensing agreements.
The hypocrisy of not including a power brick with new iPhones; a year after introducing USB-C wall plugs, in the name of the environment at the expense of the customer is shoddy. I have an issue with Apple’s virtues stance on e-waste while failing to join a universal standard for the sake of profit.
Apple is already aware. There’s like so MANY nefarious things you could do with these components and their unfettered anonymous access to any iPhone around.
Update: I want to clarify I am not advocating people to do nefarious things, this is just a vulnerability, and it needs to be pointed out.
I’m sure they’re aware, but they won’t do anything about it because it would require them to cripple most of it’s features. This product is a hairball that could choke them in liability. Not sure why they’re risking it.Apple is already aware.
Much like removing the 3.5mm plug in iDevices, it's all designed to sell additional products. Its akin to selling a car with no wheels.
Because USB wasn’t capable of all the things the 30 pin or lightning port was?Pretty much sums up Apple’s approach to business. I never saw an advantage to using a 30-pin connector or lighting cable over a USB port to consumers but it must have earnt Apple some money.
And have a useless tag if they do. What advantage does sealing them have other than making it more expensive to replace the battery? It should be a sealed design as it someone Steeling them will just take the batt out
What a beautiful design. Everything in a circle like it should be. I studied industrial design and as always apple create art, they are incredible at going the extra mile to make it look gorgeous inside and out! Something they got from Steve and Johnny! It actually looks a bit like Apple Park in there! 😄
