Really looking forward to the slowed down version that labels everything. Really want to know more about how this goes together (and really curious what Genius Bar training will look like for this, assuming they don't send them away somewhere).
I wish iFixit would go back to proper teardown, not just these videos.
It's not exactly scientific but AppleTrack did one.Where is the drop Test?
technology implemented here is truly remarkable
Yea I was thoroughly displeased when they went video first. The written one seems a bit better, but I could do with less commentary and more reverse engineering. The video isn't a teardown, it's a tear apart. It was utterly unenlightening, and iFixIt seems to tack toward whingey rather than informative these days.
I'm guessing a repairability score of 1 when they finally release the full teardown and score.
One thing going for it is that it's somewhat modular. The battery, battery to headset cable, and the speaker straps are all easily swappable components.-1000. If you design something like this, you don't care about any repairs. I've never seen anything so horrible in my life. I'm really shocked!
So your experience says this? Everyone who uses it says it is almost magical. But whatever.Seems to be the usual Apple…incredibly impressive hardware ingenuity, while the software side of things is always the major letdown.
Then people will complain that everything is on a board and not replaceable. And that screws and ribbon cables are the way to go. Even though it will be half the size and 2/3rd the weight.Don’t understand the need for all the sarcasm in the video. Is it really necessary to express frustration at the number of screws? There’s like 30 individual components crammed into this thing.
Eventually modules will be combined, but that will result in the ifixit’s comments on how you have to replace the entire X simply to repair Y.
This is a staggering amount of tech crammed into a curved space. It’s honestly remarkable how much is going on in terms of getting all of this working together in one cohesive unit. I think competitors are going to find the R1 is a staggering obstacle to overcome in terms of performance in sensor fusion….
Both can be simultaneously true. And many AVP owners have been posting that the passthrough didn't live up to their expectations. Not sure why she complained about the quality of pass through in the beginning given that all other reviews have praised it as being the best available. Stopped watching after that.
Perhaps for you it isn't.And I'm not sure why her opinion on passthrough is relevant when deciding whether to watch a tear down video.
I agree but not because it’s too expensive for what you get. I think it’s cool tech for cool tech’s sake without a compelling use case. I’m curious a month or two from now how many will still be gushing over it and using it on a regular basis. The Price is the biggest problem with it.
No doubt after a few years the Vision Pro will be just e-wasted.
you can use third party battery packs with this device.
By daisy chaining onto the battery pack. How?
Who is this fixit girl?Did you know the previous “iFixIt girl”, Gwendolyn Gay? She was quite charming. I miss her on the teardowns.
