Really looking forward to the slowed down version that labels everything. Really want to know more about how this goes together (and really curious what Genius Bar training will look like for this, assuming they don't send them away somewhere).

I wish iFixit would go back to proper teardown, not just these videos.

The written one seems a bit better, but I could do with less commentary and more reverse engineering. The video isn't a teardown, it's a tear apart. It was utterly unenlightening, and iFixIt seems to tack toward whingey rather than informative these days.

Yea I was thoroughly displeased when they went video first.

I'm guessing a repairability score of 1 when they finally release the full teardown and score.

-1000. If you design something like this, you don't care about any repairs. I've never seen anything so horrible in my life. I'm really shocked!
One thing going for it is that it's somewhat modular. The battery, battery to headset cable, and the speaker straps are all easily swappable components.
Also, it appears to be completely functional without the front glass, and it looks like it wouldn't be very difficult to replace the front glass if it broke (as long as you could purchase the component)

Seems to be the usual Apple…incredibly impressive hardware ingenuity, while the software side of things is always the major letdown.
So your experience says this? Everyone who uses it says it is almost magical. But whatever.
Don’t understand the need for all the sarcasm in the video. Is it really necessary to express frustration at the number of screws? There’s like 30 individual components crammed into this thing.

Eventually modules will be combined, but that will result in the ifixit’s comments on how you have to replace the entire X simply to repair Y.

This is a staggering amount of tech crammed into a curved space. It’s honestly remarkable how much is going on in terms of getting all of this working together in one cohesive unit. I think competitors are going to find the R1 is a staggering obstacle to overcome in terms of performance in sensor fusion….
Then people will complain that everything is on a board and not replaceable. And that screws and ribbon cables are the way to go. Even though it will be half the size and 2/3rd the weight.

The tech is inspired, the use is developing, and the headset will shrink. But those eyes…. 👀

Not sure why she complained about the quality of pass through in the beginning given that all other reviews have praised it as being the best available. Stopped watching after that.
Both can be simultaneously true. And many AVP owners have been posting that the passthrough didn't live up to their expectations.

And I'm not sure why her opinion on passthrough is relevant when deciding whether to watch a tear down video.

The Price is the biggest problem with it.
I agree but not because it’s too expensive for what you get. I think it’s cool tech for cool tech’s sake without a compelling use case. I’m curious a month or two from now how many will still be gushing over it and using it on a regular basis.

I still buy parts and tools from iFixIt as both are of high quality, but their continued (and increased) snarkiness toward Apple is getting really, really obnoxious. You spend a chunk of the video complaining about adhesive and plastic clips, only to then complain about removable screws and cables that can be disconnected. I get the feeling at this point, even if Apple were to make something that was completely modular and 100% repairable, they'd find something wrong with it, latch on to that, and spend the entire video making fun/complaining about that one thing.

With that being said, the inside of the Vision Pro, with the amount of tech crammed into it, it's plethora of cameras and sensors, is a sight to be marveled.
