Sorry if I missed it, what contributed to the score of 1?
I meant what added the 1, looks like the trackpad did.Rivited and glued parts and then logic board is a single unit. Security chip limits replacement of other components.
The complaint is the ease of repairing an electronic device to reduce waste and extend the longevity of it, instead of a full recycle of a component such as the entire top case which includes the keyboard, battery, speakers, touch bar, etc. Of course, if you're already a wasteful person, don't care about the environment, nor future generations other than just what appeases you while you're alive, then I'm sure you are absolutely fine with these unnecessary engineering designs. It does reduce cost to Apple though and makes them more of a profit than the design which allows more modular individual components. Speakers blown; replace the top case. Key sticking; replace the top case. Battery degraded and requiring replacement; replace the top case. Touch Bar inoperative; replace the top case....
Did you say the same thing 7 years ago when Apple started doing this with the 2012 15” MacBook Pro or did you just get the memo?No user installable RAM. That is not good.
GPU failures was 100% nvidia problem. Thats why Apple don't buy GPU from them.
Don't worry, nothing Apple can do would stop the complaining. I bet next week people on here will be complaining that Apple dropped the butterfly keyboard and claim to have loved it all along 😂Cmon people, complain more, I know you can do it

This stuff get recycled not throw away so no environment argument applies...
Who wants a shop to put a used or stolen battery in their iPhone?<snip>
Not not much different than Apple making a check on the battery controller to determine if it was a repair by Apple or authorized repair center. Not a check for an official/authorized Apple battery. The batteries require firmware pairing with iOS, regardless to if they are authentic OEM Apple batteries.
I agreed with you but the reason this won't happen again you already answered in "potentially keep forever"Considering the weight of this thing, it would've made no difference if Apple made the parts removable with good old screws.
And in return you'd get a highly repairable laptop that you could potentially keep forever.
Most parts are re-used via Apple’s refurb program. No no no.
Reduce. Reuse. Recylce.
They are in order of impact, recycle being just above just trashing it. Recycling is not the panacea Apple wants you to think it is.
Just don't buy and go to Dell or HP forum.

Is there a number as to how much is being re-used vice resorting to recycling. Reducing is probably the best and first option as it stands and this is anything than reducing. Upgrading only key components when required is reducing with COTS.
Year 2025: iFixit will be surprised that any of the Macbook Pro can't be opened, everything is glued , one aluminium block with a screen . The Apple Care will just replace the entire thing. Apple will be praised for their simple innovative design.
When you get a major component replaced (Logic Board, Display, SSD, Top Case), it is then refurbished and used in the AppleCare repair chain, up to three times. Once it has gone through three times, they then recycle said part. When you get these parts replaced at an Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider, they MORE THAN LIKELY are not brand new parts.
The check fails in iOS, EVEN IF A NEW OFFICIAL AUTHENTIC APPLE BATTERY, is installed. Hence, it requires a proprietary software pairing, EVEN FOR OFFICIAL AUTHENTIC APPLE BATTERIES.Who wants a shop to put a used or stolen battery in their iPhone?
MacBook Pro has had soldered RAM since 2012. MacBook Air since 2009. iPhone since 2007. iPad since 2010.No user installable RAM. That is not good.
Are you at all familiar with MacRumors forum members? Pages after pages of whining about the lack of SD reader in articles about the 16”.
I kinda figured it went with the rule of three, but did not want to jump to conclusions, considering if something has three problems or has to be replaced three times for the same thing the "lemon law" goes into effect. Did not know if it applied to reusing or recycling components three times. Interesting thank you for clarifying.![]()

iMac, iMac Pro, Mac mini and Mac Pro have socketed RAM.
