I’m quite aware. Screaming your ignorance doesn’t do you any favors. The check fails in iOS, EVEN IF A NEW OFFICIAL AUTHENTIC APPLE BATTERY, is installed. Hence, it requires a proprietary software pairing, EVEN FOR OFFICIAL AUTHENTIC APPLE BATTERIES.
Sorry to everyone else that I had to type in capitals. Some people are more dense than elementary school children and at times the capital letters really "Pops" for them.
Step 8. It says “Toshiba TSB4227VE8434CHNA11926 and TSB4227VE8437CHNA11926 flash storage (512 GB total)”.
Does it mean that it has two SSD sticks? RAID? Thanks!
Well except that you unnecessarily had to pay extra for the Apple Care.Eh, if you buy Apple Care then there's really no reason to complain.
You have interesting definition of "whining".
Doesn't matter the use. All of Apple's product line for Air, MB, and MBP have the same problem of not being easily repairable by anyone other than Apple. With the introduction of the T2, now no one can replace that top case themselves or through another third party after warranty. And even then, the cost to replace the top case for any of the joined components is ridiculous waste and reduction in the notebook being reusable over a longer period of time. Who wants to pay Apple 700+ dollars after three years for a top case replacement on a depreciated notebook that may not even be less in resell value all because the computer needed a keyboard, battery, etc. replacement.Ah yes, the Social media generation who needs the MacBookPro for Facebook... 🤣
On one hand, I’m irritated that Apple has secured everything down without a chance of repairability but on the other hand, I have never had a reason to open my 2014 MacBook Pro. But it’s nice to know that I can at least upgrade the SSD if I want.
Considering the weight of this thing, it would've made no difference if Apple made the parts removable with good old screws.
And in return you'd get a highly repairable laptop that you could potentially keep forever.
If they can afford why not? How could it possibly matter to you?Ah yes, the Social media generation who needs the MacBookPro for Facebook... 🤣
Apple needs to dispense with the "Pro" nomenclature if they're going to continue to solder critical components to the logic board and make it more difficult to repair with glue and rivets.
Over time, the fans inside your laptop may start collecting dust which reduce the thermal efficiency and may cause the fans to rattle. In such case, you may need to open your laptop to clean it up.
For a company that likes to toot it's horn about how green they are they sure like to make their products impossible to fix/upgrade instead of just replacing the entire thing. I've replaced the SSD in my 2012 MBP twice now..battery once.. and battery wasn't exactly "replaceable" even then since it was also glued![]()
I guess you are buying a Mac Pro?No user installable RAM. That is not good.
Your laptop is obsolete.. I don't know what to tell you.
It wasn't that long ago that MacBooks and MacBook Pros came with instructions in the manual in the box that showed you how to replace the hard drive. It was super easy to do, which is why Apple could show consumers how to do it (in laptops that cost way less than $3,000) how to do it with a few simple graphics. It's why you could hugely increase the speed of 2012 and prior MacBooks by upgrading to an SSD. It would be so easy for Apple to use M.2 drive. I'm betting even the Mac Pro won't use standard M.2 drives.Because the average consumer is going to have both the desire and the knowledge to disassemble a $3,000 computer ????
That was a rhetorical question. The answer is clearly no.

Nothing prevents you from doing that on this or any other MacBook. Come up with a better scenario.

Apple can repair or replace any part, and when they do, you can rest assured that the old parts will be recycled.
On the other hand, when Joe Redneck replaces the battery in his Dell, the old battery will end up in the trash can.
MacBook Pro has had soldered RAM since 2012. MacBook Air since 2009. iPhone since 2007. iPad since 2010.
iMac, iMac Pro, Mac mini and Mac Pro have socketed RAM.
And whine where whining is the thing to do.
Battery service is $129 for MacBook Air and non-Retina MBP, $199 retina MBP. Not $700.Doesn't matter the use. how much more 'pro' can you get?I remember the days when I bought the fastest processor you could afford, then I'd upgraded the RAM and the hard drive only when necessary. These days, I make a computer last as long as possible and I won't upgrade my iPhone because I don't want to give Tim my money. Remember when Pro meant Pro? I think that ended when Apple stopped offering Matte displays.
And that is why APPLE is soldering everything, so they can keep ripping all customer off.Battery service is $129 for MacBook Air and non-Retina MBP, $199 retina MBP. Not $700.
I was almost going to replace my Mid 2015 15" MacBook Pro with this computer, then they riveted the keyboard to the top case. WTF Apple make a pro laptop again that I can use to get work done and do presentations where all LCD projectors use an HDMI plug. I'm not going to carry a bunch of crap around because you want to cut a mm out of the size of a laptop. Also the storage and RAM being soldered to the logic board for no reason drives me crazy. Come on Apple release a new good PRO laptop again.
