iFixIt

So, lets get this straight....

iFixit flew half way round the world just to visit an Apple Store here in Australia. ?

They did know the iPhone 5 was available in UK at the same time right?

Australia is a better vacation spot?

I'll save you all some time. Shockingly, it's not very user-repairable. Screw you, iFixIt, no one cares.

I also care. That was not a nice thing to say. I think a more correct statement would be "I don't care". Your statement is misleading at best.

"Be well John Sparton."

It's also available at the same time* all around the world.

*according to local wall clocks

Unless, of course you mean that retailers were selling them at midnight.

He's referring to iFixit's temper tantrum over the MBPr.

Correct :) I actually very much enjoy the circuitry porn aspect of it. Just think it's silly to blast a product for something where the percentage of people affected is astonishingly small, probably about the same number of people who would answer "yes" to "Have you used your own soldering iron in the last month?"

Looks so much cleaner and well built then all the mock ups we were seeing pre release. 1 more day can't wait!

Really?..........REALLY????

can't imagine myself how a mass marketed mass produced device would actually be CLEANER and More well-built than a mockup somebody threw together...

Two Requests:

1. Can Macrumors start a thread that contains no spoilers concerning possible things that might be found in the iPhone with a live link when the article is finished.

2. Can Macrumors post a live link to the 'Next' button on the iFixit teardown so we can know when the next page is ready without needing to continually refresh.

;¬)

Anyone replying to this post, cares.

So don't even come on here asking "who cares?"...

...YOU do.

Who cares if anyone makes a post saying who cares?

Wow...... Elpida DRAM......... Goodbye samesung :p

Apple uses multiple components suppliers. Always (except for CPUs). Your iPhone 5 will probably have Samsung RAM. Besides, DRAM in the CPU package is all Samsung.

Paid to do this ?

Do these guys actually make money by doing this? I have to say that I think it is a worthless endeavor, I do hand it to them for making money at it....very nice !

It is pretty bad !

MR: you should think about rewriting the first paragraph of this story.

I read a news article a couple of days ago which said that people spent about $6 billion on iPhone insurance/repairs (in five years). There is huge monye in this (and I am sure iPhone with its stupid glass case 4 contributed greatly to this amount)

Love that line! Reminds me of a quote from Charles Schulz (creator of the Peanuts comic strip):

"Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It is already tomorrow in Australia."

I love the Karateka screengrab in your profile!
Reminds me of the first day I got to use the Apple IIc

PS: Does anyone have the original and will Karateka play on PM G5 without Classic 9 installed?

anandtech would love to see the pictures, they will have a good review analyzing the iPhone 5 very thoroughly

gotta wait till at least couple of weeks.

not sure no review from theverge too ...

Two more weeks for anandtech rundown?

I'm actually incredibly discouraged that it only went up 2 mAh.

Seriously?!? 2?!

I'm HOPING they found some way to make that terrible ~1430 mAh last longer but I'm sick and tired of Apple focusing so much on thinness and not enough on battery life. My wife's 4S is absolutely horrible. Can't make it until 3-4 PM most days. (And yes, I've tried everything possible.)

I'm going to stay optimistic because reviews seemed to suggest battery life is OK on i5 but I'm definitely skeptical.

Really? It's not about what you try its about her habitual use of the device that may need to be changed, after all it is her IP4s.
Power off the device, and give it a reset cycle as well - then charge overnight.

* Close apps that require data, or still reload data constantly:
FaceBook, Maps, VoIP, etc.
(remember apps remain connected to data up to 10mins when minimized, however VoIP apps like GoogleVoice will remain connected longer as they keep ports open for inbound communications - voice/video)

* How often are photos taken, streaming video over WiFi or 3G for the day?
* how many ActiveSync emails are forwarded to the device (include all folders that have rules to send the largest bulk of emails: kill these folders search for them when required).
* I'll bet that there is a rogue battery app in there that is the root cause; remove ALL games and re-install 1 by 1 per day.

Let's face it ... She WANTS the iPhone 5 no matter the battery life in the iPhone 4S, and sorry if you need to pay for it to keep her blissfully happy and part of the hot & cool wives club; but it'll pay you dividends if displayed to her right. ;)

You obviously lack some reading comprehension.
The comments from ifixit is that it is much easier to replace the front screen and get into the phone.
When some newbie drops their phone and shatters the front glass, they'll be glad to find out they can replace the front screen without having to replace the entire phone.
I don't care about your apathy.
