I just got my Lux case and I love the feel but had they just given a little more plastic near the volume rocker and the silent switch it would be more of a winner imho. I don't understand why so much has to be exposed.

Orange FTW.

I got this one, they are exactly the same. But you'll need the camera bezel, and headphone jack bezel this one comes with. All the other stuff it comes with is junk, take something like a razor blade to get the metal bezel off the old housing.

The hardest part is remembering were the screws go, they are different sizes. Also, taking the glass off for the first time. MANY people screw up while using the suction cup method and the glass pops off so quickly the "#3" ribbon connector on the motherboard pulls off. And if this happens, your SOL. I learned to place the phone on the table and use my left hand to push down holding the ear speaker side down firmly so that when the bottom part comes up, the whole glass doesn't go flying across the room.

Heres orange

Make sure whatever you get, its the appropriate size, 8GB or 16GB

And the first thing when you start re-assembling, make sure you super glue the whole metal bezel back down on the new housing. Otherwise its a pita to glue the top right, and bottom left down ofter its put together. Those are the two things i learned from doing this. But got it fixed.

I picked up one of these cases when I picked up my Iphone, really like the case!

But a few days later, after applying my Bodyguardz, the case wont lock-in properly. For whatever reason, the bottom portion just wont go, as if the skin is creating too much friction.

I took the case back to AT&T, figuring the case was just bad. The guy helping me tried putting it on his (he had one on his phone anyway) and it slid on fine. On mine it "stuck" and was a pain to put on, and remove. Is it possible the skin is creating that much interference? Anyone had a problem like this?

yes skin tends you mess around with all iphone cases that are not just a simple snap on or pure silicone

You either lose the case or get a snap on like PS air jackt, Griffin reveal, switcheasy colors etc.

Thanks a lot for the write up. Is that the same seller that you bought from? Was the experience good, like shipping and stuff? Thanks a lot!

Another important question. If I do this and need apple warranty help, if I replace the original cover will they know and void my warranty?

Good Eye

Is that a PowerShot G10 in the third picture?

Is this it? If not, can you please point me to the right one? Does it come in other colors, like orange? :D

What are you rolling your eyes at for though. ;) never said I was taking pics with the iphone kinds hard when I'm showing the Iphone in the case lol.. BTW I had a canon 40D before you could say I down graded but honestly I don't miss the 40D 95% off the time. I love my G10 almost as much as my Iphone. :D

and one the 2nd part case won't void apples warranty water will, Seriously Apple doesn't care if you are trying to protect your iphone, and the Apple store sells the Ifrogz cases Seller and Ifrogz were both good to deal with that is why I wanted to do this in another thread I was unhappy with the case but fixing a simple problem and both offered to replace the case. I fixed it myself so no worries. and this is now my favorite case.

Yes, it will absolutely void your warranty with Apple if you take your iPhone apart and put it back together with a non-Apple part.

vinay427 was asking about replacing the iPhone's housing, not putting a case on his iPhone.

Thanks, but I still want to know that if I ABSOLUTELY need Apple help will they know if I reinstall the original back housing?

good catch Surley

I was up late and didn't realize the question was to somebody else, again thanks for catching that!!!!

^^^^ No worries :)

How are you going to do that if you have to use superglue as CoreyHM1 stated in his post?

My guess is that if you had a problem with your iPhone and you were somehow able to reinstall the old housing, and Apple had to take it apart to diagnose or fix it, they would know.

I had a BSE on my phone when I went into AT&T the day I bought this. I ended up taking the skin off because I liked this case so much.

Went from orange (original purchase) to blue (girlfriend's original purchase, my favorite color) to green (my girlfriend's favorite color, traded orange for it so I could trade my girl for the blue but she decided she liked the blue better after a day of using the green) to silver (traded green for it). The silver is definitely my favorite as it gives the phone a "1st gen" look. The blue was REALLY vibrant though. Almost like it glowed. And it had a silkier feeling than the silver one does.

Anyway, point is that it's an awesome case and it's the first I've ever used on any of my iPhones.

What do you guys think of the screen protector that comes with the Luxe? I for one am EXTREMELY careful with my phone and my only screen scratch came when I accidentally left my phone with my keys in the same pocket, otherwise I rarely drop it. Should I still put a screen protector, is the one that comes with the Luxe case good? I hear that the Invisible Shield protector is great, what's it like in general, and does it work with the Luxe?

I wouldn't say thats very possible. or worth it. Its a little harder than you think to change the backs (housing). You completely disassemble and put it back together from the ground up. Besides, chances are you'll tear the OEM housing up like i did getting the bezel off. That sucker is almost concreted on there.

I found that the one that comes with the luxe has a rainbow effect, i think, for me at least. I so far love the crystal films that come from apple. Invisible shield it good too. And YES, i would not go with a screen protector. I tried it on the iphone i had before i got another one under warranty (stuck pixels, and the scratches made it easier for me to decide to exchange it). (my experience)

hey

I just ordered them from Amazon for $14 each, and it'll take more than 5 business days to ship from there compared to the 2-3 business days of buy.com! Thanks for the link though I'll be sure to have this site in mind incase I want to buy another color, I need a case soon for my new 3GS!

If they didn't ship your order yet you can cancel save a few bucks what the heck. BTW I have had good results from buy.com one of my favs, they must of just changed those prices.

Here's my review of the iFrogz Luxe after using it for about 6 months.

Pros:

Cost (ebay)
Size
Feel
Appearance (colors are deep and vivid)
Scratch resistant

Cons:
Opening around volume rocker is a little oversized
The side-clips and front bottom piece (protecting the chrome) are flimsy.

The case has been holding up pretty well for about 6 months of use, and quite a few drops. It looks and feels absolutely awesome. Signs of wear include 1 broken clip, the bottom piece is cracked (protecting the chrome), and the color around the sides has began to wear. I'm not positive, but I don't believe the broken pieces were caused by the drops. They are quite weak. I don't see paint ever chipping. If anything, it will simply wear away over time.

Yea it gives me the option to cancel, Either way, I think I'll just wait it out, they still haven't shipped it yet but what the heck I don't want to worry too much about it.

Edit: on second thought, amazon says estimated shipping date is July 7th, but another one says delivery estimate is July 14-July 20th! I know the difference between shipping and delivery, but I chose the Free Super Saving and it said 5-9 business days, but I didn't really think they'd make it 9! So I can cancel (they haven't shipped yet) from Amazon and it will definitely refund to my credit card?

I think Amazon usually estimates the ship dates very conservatively. That way, they end up with happy customers who get their stuff "early", as opposed to angry people who get theirs a day or so after the estimated date. I don't think I've ever had something ship from Amazon and actually take the entire estimated shipping time to get to my house. I'm usually surprised when it arrives because I was expecting it a day or 2 later.

I hit the cancel on the website, I'm at least assuming it should refund the money since it did not actually ship!

I'm going to buy from buy.com, but now I'm wondering which color to get, orange or green! I've been reading reviews and I hear that the green paint comes off a little and I might like it a little more, but orange seems more conventional, what do you guys think?

Edit: I'm going with green, it catches your eye better, at least from what I think:D

Random question: When you buy with PayPal, do you have to pay anything to PayPal, or is that just when you do transactions with Ebay or someone sends you money directly?

WHAT THE?! It says $14 shipping and handling! It said Free Shipping, this makes no sense! I already canceled my Amazon payment, for this?! Am I missing something here?

EDIT: That's for 3-5 Standard business days......

That's almost false advertising right there, it says 2-3 business days shipping along with Free Shipping on the Product's page, but you only get 3-5 business days with $14 shipping and handling..... . I'm going to get it in 7-9 business days, almost same thing as amazon. Well I saved a few bucks, thanks for recommending buy.com's cheap prices, I guess their shipping prices didn't hold up, but at least I get the cases (I chose Blue for my dad and Green for me) for cheaper and HOPEFULLY quicker than amazon.

I done the free ship several times

usually get in 3-4 Business days keep in mind it's Friday now so my guess is you have it by the end of the week. I live in Michigan I'd say 3 days for me with the free ship.. but Buy.com is covering there butts if you ordered 3 days you still would get it till Wednesday most likely. it's not as bad as it seems.
