Good to see that iTunes video playback is as slow on ever... even on a QUAD!

Is this not better? I was really hoping that it would be bearable to watch videos in iTunes now..........because at this point it's not.

Thanks…Terrific news! Downloading now… but I've been waiting since install for the fix to photocasting. My parents, sister, etc. are on pcs & photocasting has been worthless in that regard so far. I feel like I'm getting a new toy 😉

The iMovie update fixed my latest source of irritation. iMovie wouldn't import from my Sony TRV-11 as a DV bridge without a tape in the camera and now it does! Yay!

I've heard of that, but I can't quite place it. What's a dial-up user?

I'll smack you too... Dial up is what my Inlaws have in Erupoe (Czech rep) HomePage is all we have for an online photo gallery so they can see the new baby. iPhoto6 and iWeb really messed things up. Glad I was able to go back to iPhoto 5

Just a thought.. If I upgrade just iPhoto and dont install iWeb would iPhoto 6 still want to use iWeb for a photo gallery?

Any info?

thanks

One thing it didn't fix yet..

iPhoto 6 still crashes if I try to load big photos (sometimes, not all the time).
I have the latest 20" imac with all the upgrades...

I'm afraid I have to burst that bubble... I usually don't have any issues with Apple software updates, but this time, updating iPhoto led to a library that seems to have forgotten where its files are.

Sorry to hear you had some issues with the update. And actually, i was referring to the fact that these updates have been released to correct relatively minor issues - it's not like Apple dropped the ball, released some seriously buggy software, and this is the patch for it. (HA ha - patch...) Regardless, I hope you get everything back in working order and it stays that way. 😱 😉

Didn't it work to just select Find Library...? 😕

Ah... the menu bar. That's needed in order to get to certain things like "Revert To Original". I actually needed that when I screwed up an edit.

That's the word! I stared at my post for a couple minutes trying to remember what the heck the bar was called before I said screw it... anyways yea I figured it was there for more options, but still...

Hoping this update fixes the iPhoto thumbnails not updating after an edit bug, as well as the complete inability to choose ratings when making/editing a smart playlist that uses ratings as a criteria.

don't forget the other update: Mac OS X 10.4.5! (I haven't seen it reported yet, so...)

it's like update Christmas around here.

The 10.4.5 Update is recommended for all users and includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes for the following applications and technologies:

- iChat video conferencing
- Safari rendering of web pages
- usability of Dashboard and widgets
- viewing of QuickTime streaming media behind a firewall
- printing to some Epson printer models
- iDisk and Portable Home Directory syncing
- time zone and daylight savings for 2006 and 2007
- VPN connections to Cisco servers when using NAT
- compatibility with third party applications and devices
- previous standalone security updates

now, to find out if iWeb has the ability to set a custom date for blog/podcast entries yet...

iTunes' video reproduction is now almost as smooth as Quicktime's!

Sweet. 🙂 Although about time. 🙄

Edit: On a 1.33 12" PB on automatic I have almost no frame drops and the video starts immediately. On high it runs perfectly.

finally. though I think they should just give up altogether and have iTunes open QuickTime when you want to watch a movie from your library. while the iTunes functions may be fine for audio I prefer QTP's interface for video.

iTunes + Video + AirPort Express ??

Has Apple finally integrated QT to iTunes to stream the sound from music videos via AirTunes to speakers connected to AirPort Express? It is such a pain when iTunes plays the music over AirTunes, comes to "bonus" video file and starts to play using my crappy built-in iBook speakers until it comes back to "regular" audio file played directly with iTunes. Come on Apple, do we ask for so much? We don't want to stream video with AirTunes, just sound when selected so in iTunes we are using for music videos now.. Where is the difference (for end user, for you it is that you didn't integrate AirTunes to QuickTime)? If this huge bug is not fixed, I am not upgrading to new iTunes, last time I upgraded to 6.0.2 and it caused strange iTunes behaviour when some songs are cut at the end, sometimes it is running through the playlist like crazy w/o songs being actually replayed,... It was my 1st bad experience with minor Apple update, not gonna upgrade for some fancy new features not getting real bugs fixed this time!

IPhoto 6.01 and D200

iPhoto still cannot handle RAW files from the D200, I was hoping but not this time.

I thought that RAW handling was a feature of the underlying OS, not the iPhoto app?

Does iPhoto allow you the option to choose HomePage or iWeb for publishing pictures. I had to go back to iphoto 5 since 6 took the homepage feature away. I wont upgrade with iweb making such huge webpages that dial-up users cant access.

Thanks for any info
Chris

Someone may have asked this already, but does the iWeb update create nicer code that doesn't take an age for any browser to render?

My site went from 5.1 MB to 4.5 after the update. Most of that came from my photo album--it went from 2.8 to 2.3 MB. It might be a little faster than it used to be. Unfortunately, it still has a nasty habit of creating large images of text.

Still no blog commenting in iWeb 🙁

Yep, same like png compression, etc. Expect 2.0 to be the 1.0 everyone wanted and 3.0 to be the best app like this out there. Same thing with almost every Apple software...🙄
