Yes, I am really worried about that with you, haha.

Except I own both devices (and not just armchair-expert'ing it) and can tell you without a doubt that the Note 4 lags exponentially more than the 6 Plus at best. The 6 Plus has occasional frame drops with Notification Centre or Control Centre (almost non-existent on 8.2 though, so I'm happy they at least fixed that), whereas the Note 4 is clunky with pretty much every app, and choppy especially with core apps like Gmail (taking 5+ seconds to load if not already loaded), Hangouts (pauses when sending messages), and Play Music (everything from opening the side menu to pulling up Now Playing induces a choppy, hesitant transition).

But go on, keep using the same specs argument. Seems to be the go-to buyer's remorse response these days (especially popular with the Note 4 owners).

I think this is pretty accurate. Apple only adds features once they can make it intuitive and easy to use for the masses. It's a big key to their success.

That being said I fail to see the need or desire for multi-window multitasking on an iPhone. Even with the 6 Plus the screen is too small for it to really be useful. I can't imagine a single scenario where I'd want to be watching a video on my phone while simultaneously surfing the net. Who wants to squeeze two apps onto such a tiny display? Even on the Galaxy phones I rarely find anyone actually use this. I think some people let their inner geek takeover practicality at times. Apple isn't interested in serving the 0.5% of iPhone owners who would use this, only the 99.5% who wouldn't.

Now multiple windows on iPad is a different story. It actually has the screen real estate for it to be useful and practical.

This guy gets it 100% , sadly a lot of people dont get it, and think application windows and dual windows on a 5 inch screen is so amazing and incredible, I think it is pretty stupid and cumbersome and is counter intuitive in a way, On a smartphone you usually are doing one thing at once anyway

Funny, on one side (the phone side), it's "we want features we won't use! give me more!"

and on the other side (computer), it's "everything is so buggy. I wish it were simpler"

You wouldnt be you if you did not continue to spread FUD. :p
This video does a comparison between 6+ and Note 4 in opening apps and multi task and Note 4 is anything but slow.

How's that straw man working out for you?

I never said it was slow. I said it's laggy.

I mean, I own the damn thing. Why would I spread BS about something I spent money on? I swear, you fanboys get more defensive by the generation and absolutely refuse to admit to any faults with your devices.

I can admit to a pretty significant amount of lag with the Note 4 just like I can admit to a pretty significant amount of bugs with iOS 8. It doesn't bother me to admit it because I'm not bending over promising lifetime loyalty to a brand like you lot seem to be doing these days. Keep crying about people outing faults with your favourite products all you want, but it is certainly not "FUD" just because you'd rather plug ears and pretend that the problems don't exist.

That is a really strange way to compare speeds. It is two totally different operating systems. Running through and opening apps is doesn't prove anything.

At one point he opens a game and says oh the Note has taken the lead. But ios is loading game center. What a joke.

Speed comparisons like this really can't be done. Comes down to your usage. I don't find the Note 4 laggy, but it needs to be tweaked a bit to get there. Too much bloat and touch wiz. Lollipop should make it better.

I owned iphones since the first one came out, I finally had enough so I switched to the Note 4 and it is GREAT!! Many things I always said "maybe the next iphone will have/do this", this phone has it or does it.

True multi-tasking, yes, expandable memory, yes, higher resolution, yup, a better camera, that too...and it has so much more too.

so how much did samsung pay you for this post

Having multiple apps running in multiple windows simultaneous is great to have. Also a more important multi-tasking capability is the intent/event activated multi-tasking. The ability of apps to auto-run in the background when certain events (e.g. receive sms, calendar etc) happen is sorely lacking in iOS. With this capability there are thousands of automation scenarios that can be done in Android but not in Iphone. I just give a few examples of capability in my Note 4 which are not possible in Iphone:-

- when a call is started/received, a call recording app is automatically activated to record the ongoing conversation.
- when the cell ID changes to one near the location of pickup, the app will auto send an SMS to the person to get ready.
- when an sms arrives from a business contact, an app will write the sms details into a shared google calendar so other people can see.
- when a calendar meeting event starts/ends, an app will auto turn the phone to vibrate and back again. Another app will auto send SMS wishes if those events are birthday/anniversary.
- when a nfc tag is detected, auto start certain apps like music player or navigation
etc etc.

Even with all these intent and muti windows multitasking happening in my Note 4, the phone still performs smooth and fast.

Even on my 5S, I'm beginning to get vexed that in iOS 8 we still don't have the option to at least watch YouTube and browse Safari. With my 6 Plus box in the other room (waiting until my birthday to open because I'm like that with gifts to myself ;)), the situation is just going to be exacerbated and made more ridiculous.

If I worked at Apple I would do this: have developers create optimized apps that have a split-screen version so that multi-tasking is incredibly fine-tuned, and make the quality of this version part of the approval process if a developer chooses to make an app split-screen ready. Boom. (Feel free to contact me to work out a deal to purchase this idea, Tim.)

Don't confuse multitasking with split screen multitasking. Listening to music while using Safari is multitasking. Which all smartphones are able to do.

We are getting beyond simple split screen dual apps though, and certainly way more advanced than a music app running in the background.

Most people won't find multiple on screen app multitasking useful here because they've never known it. Cant really see its usefulness if you even experienced it.

Like make other features iOS has that people can't live without (ApplePay, Control and Notification center, camera from the lock screen, wifi OTA updates, etc etc) once apple utilizes it its a deal breaker not to have it. Multiple on screen app multitasking with be there too one day.

I had the one max, Galaxy mega, and G3 all of which supported multiple windows and tasking.

I never used it much other than to show off but it was just a one time party trick.

Before I switched from the G3 to the 6+ I recall YouTube having an update which allowed it to be played in the background and controllable through the drop down taskbar as a widget.

I think it might be coming to iOS soon this is my first iphone and I have no quarrels. A handicapped multitasking ability gives better battery life anyways.

In typical fanboi fashion, split screen multitasking is frowned up. Until the VERY second Apple releases it. At that point, you will be an idiot for not thinking it's amazing.

I've lodpst count of the number of times I've been watching something on the iPad, and had to reach for my phone to looks something up(imdb is a good example). Also when browsing during commercials when I'm watching live TV on the iPad. I do this ALL THE TIME while using the iPad as basically a monitor/display device. Minimizing the video to a PIP size while I quickly browse would be amazing.

But people can't IMAGINE a use case? Give me a break. The same people will be going gags over it, when this feature comes to iOS. I'd also guess these types looked down their noses at a display over 3.5", then 4", and now at any display UNDER 5.5"

They are actually possible to some extent, but do require workarounds as I believe these actions are explicitly prohibited as part of Apple's app silo. For example, I believe there's an app which uses bluetooth beacons to start certain apps (it's quite cumbersome, because I still need to unlock my phone), as well as IFTTT triggers.

Maybe if it's done right. But it's certainly not done right at all on the Note 4.

People don't praise Apple for coming up with the feature; they praise it for getting the implementation right, which is all that matters. Case in point: fingerprint reader and how it certainly wasn't the first time a reader was put in a phone. But it was definitely the first one that didn't suck ass.

If Apple come up with some kind of multitasking solution, I trust them enough to be confident that it would be as easy to use as it possibly can.

That being said, again, I honestly think that it's a bit dumb to have it on a 5.7" screen, but if they do it on the iPad, I'm all ears.

Return your gift and go android. Why buy something that is going to annoy you?

Honestly this isn't even a native feature on Android. I believe this is only native to Samsung and TouchWiz(Multi Window). I've had 4 Samsung phones in the past 3 years and honestly I never used this feature ever! I'm not so ADHD that I can't focus on one task at a time. Now I've got an iPhone 6+ and couldn't be happier.

So the only use case is is due to ADHD?

Now I know to discount your opinions. Thanks

I was being a tad bit facetious however, Multi Window is still only available on Samsung devices. For what it's worth, I don't know many Samsung Galaxy owners that actually use this anyway.

Who really cares? That is THE definition of multitasking, is it not? Doing more than one thing at a time?

In the most myopic, rudimentary sense of the word for the most low brow of expectations...Yeah its multitasking.

But for the Note 4 we are talking more than this bare minimum standard.

That's rich, coming from someone with your condescending comments.

Condescending, or tired of the constant unicorns and rainbows being tossed in the faces of those who DARE point out flaws?

I reach for the iPhone all the time while using the iPad. Each time is an opportunity to take advantage of multitasking. Just because apple hasn't included it in iOS, doesn't mean it has no value.

No. Just condescending. As stated, I don't personally feel that the iPhone (even the 6 Plus) would benefit all that much from "true" multitasking. The iPad on the other hand, would. However, I can get by just fine without it. If you are so upset with the lack of it, why not sell the iPhone and iPad and purchase Samsung devices to replace them?
