Gonna keep mine . 4 lines 850 rollover. 2 unlimited lines 1 5gig tethered I sling box and YouTube on mine .kids do spotify The 5 gig line every month is barely under the cap or its goin over and gettin charged 10 bucks overage....just. 30 minutes of YouTube streaming uses about 150-200 Meg's of data. I get throttled every month but sling box still works. I like the subsidies too.

I'm actually on Verizon.

When Verizon first got the iPhone 4 in February 2011, they offered unlimited data/$30 a month. Despite having unlimited data, I almost never use it past 2GB. When the iPhone 6 is released I would be ok giving up my unlimited 3G for 2GB of LTE.

Be forewarned: you will use way more data on a new LTE phone. I have an iPhone 4, and don't use much data, even though I used to share it with my son frequently. (Average 1GB a month.) I got my teenage son an iPhone 5C for Christmas, and he goes through 2GB in a week or two. Even tweaking the settings hasn't helped a huge amount.

We had unlimited data with AT&T from the first iPhone until we gave it up to go to Verizon. It was fine, because we had unlimited data with Verizon as well. When Verizon speed slowed to a crawl and they removed subsidies on unlimited data lines, we switched back to AT&T and went with the shared plan.

This month, we switched to T-Mobile, on a family plan with 4 unlimited data lines. In the past 10 days, 2 of our lines used about 3 gigs each and one line used 1.5 gigs.

It's great having unlimited data back and I don't have to freak out whenever somebody in the family opens up the Netflix app.

Like I said, I'm waiting for the iPhone 6 with a larger/better display.

Uh... I was referring to dropping unlimited data, not the phone. Why do you feel the need to wait to drop unlimited data when the 6 comes out. Why don't you just do that now (seeing as you already have plans to do so)?

What subsidies on unlimited data lines did they remove? Verizon here is blazing fast on LTE.

I'm on verizon & have unlimited data and tethering. I don't care if I have to pay full price for a iPhone for the rest of my life because the freedom is worth it. I just buy a new one every two years. :D

Because I want to make sure the iPhone 6 has a larger display.

All verizon customers have tethering, except those on new lte devices who have unlimited data are required to pay 30 bux according to the TOS.

I've had an iPhone since 2009.

I'm on it a lot. I do a ton of stuff with it. Always checking email, playing games, listening to music, etc.

I hit 980 Megabytes of usage this month.
My wife hit 127 Megabytes of usage this month.

I use to have an "unlimited" plan, but I never used much data. With their new shared data plans, I just grab a big bucket of data, and it's cheap enough for my entire family to all have smartphones. We never worry about hitting our 10GB data cap, plus we all get tethering, which allows us to get our tablets and laptops online when we travel.

"Unlimited" isn't for everyone.

Definitely agree with this, as I was usually using around 2GB/month with my 3GS, then was about 2.5GB/month with my 4S, and now I'm running about 3.5-4GB/month with my 5S.

That number will likely increase to 4-4.5GB as time goes, I am sure.

And those numbers are with me being on WiFi when at home, and being on "4G" throughout most of the day. I only turn LTE on when I am going to actively use it for something, and then I turn it off again when I am done.

The two are mutually exclusive though.

Sigh...
Nevermind

Not sure what answer you want me to give you.

Why do you even care...

Yes, I agree. No longer have an iPad and there's Wi-Fi most places I go now.

I'm fine with dropping my unlimited plan in favor of a shared data plan.

For AT&T this is more of a keepers feature than a users feature as the majority of users that have UNL don't exceed 5GB of data each month.
Most people use the UNL data feature as a safety blanket 'just in case' they 'might' go over 5 GB or a plan of equal value.
Bottom Line: AT&T is benefiting more than the customers as they are getting their price and keeping the loyalty of a customer.

I've used a gig in a day. I wonder how many people would have switched if the carriers did not pay ETF?

Well you posted it and anything posted is fair game for comment, and tbh, it makes no sense to me either. But to each their own.

I don't stream any video on my device and still use 10gb+ each month. I do have a lot of podcasts and play games that require data connection. I don't have wifi access at work. Never giving up my unlimited data either.

Just canceled my unlimited grandfathered data plan I had for 6 years and going to get my unlock soon I hope and change over to T-mobile To go phone refill 1,000 minutes for $100.00 for one year

I was tired of paying $85-86 a month !

When I had to wait 6-7 weeks to get my gold 32GB iphone 5s I found out my needs for a monthly plan was not as important anymore and I could do without !

AT7T told me I have to finish out this month and pay my ETF and I could get my phone unlocked ! anyone know how long after the ETF is paid they unlock for you ?

by the way they asked why am I leaving and I told them my car insurance is cheaper then their cell fees
