I gave up my wife's AT&T unlimited data when we switched to Mobile Share. If she used 1GB in a month it would mean the rapture. Even I barely get to 2GB. My son, on the other hand...

Meh...I can see why people with Verizon unlimited would want to keep their plans. The law from the spectrum sale restricts Verizon from throttling their unlimited plans and forces them to unlock devices. Aside from those with ancient unlimited iPad data plans for AT&T (sell those on eBay ASAP); "unlimited" is really a loose term. Given a choice, Ill take the 10GB with tethering over the 5GB with throttling and a cumbersome jailbreak. ;)

Verizon does have the better unlimited plan, thats for sure. As an AT&T unlimited user, I don't really see the point of the plan. Every month I get throttled. Only reason I keep the plan is because maybe someday they'll do away with the throttling. Wishful thinking.

Do you have any kind of link? I'd be interested in reading that. They shouldn't be able to do that because of their 700mhz spectrum, so I'm curious of how they would have worded it. Thanks!

The unlimited data has zero to do with the 700mhz spectrum issue. That is why they have to have unlocked GSM.

Right now they haven't found a way to legal nix it for those that don't sign a fresh contract. If they can find a way they will use it.

These threads made sense when unlimited was actually unlimited. But now that they're throttled I just don't understand you guys at all.

"Yay, I have an unlimited amount of a service that doesn't work!"

I gave up unlimited when they started killing it over a certain data-threshold and haven't looked back.

Your post actually makes no sense. You mad?

Last month I used 34+ GB of Verizon data watching hockey games all day at work. So please, don't act like you know what you're talking about.

You are talking about unlimited on Verizon (which is not throttled and a valid unlimited plan).

Small White Car was most likely talking about 'unlimited' on AT&T (which is throttled after 3-5GB and not really an unlimited plan).

Please try not to be so hostile in your responses. It's not that big of a deal.

What carrier do you have? I'm on VZW, I have 2 lines with 1400 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data. Comes to around $170ish a month.

This I believe is verizon. The price depends on the discounts and the original grandfathered plan. Some people like me just lucked out. But I've been a verizon customer for 15 years.

I've had 2 unlimited users on my account with AT&T for years... Been proclaiming how I will never give up my unlimited data plan account.

Then after AT&T rolled out that new shared data plan and actually researching to see how much data the unlimited data users use on the account... It became a no brainer, I'd save a little over 60 bucks monthly.

There comes a time when saving money speaks loudly, couldn't pass it up...

I see no reason to rush to give up my verizon and Att unlimited lines :) These new plans aren't going anywhere smh.

One of the dumbest things I have done with my phones was to hold onto our unlimited accounts. If I had dropped it years ago, I could have saved HUNDREDS of $$$$$$$. Two lines at $30 unlimited vs the $15 plan means $360 a year.

My wife has never hit even 1gb, probably 200mg a month is the norm. I might have hit 1gb a few times over the years.

What a waste of money. Now our bill is $50 less and we have 10gb across 4 phones.

It's like car insurance, you don't need it until you need it.

Verizon. For a short time, there was a special offered 3 years ago to loyal long time Verizon customers. $30 for unlimited data on one phone. $10 for additional phones on the same family plan. Then we share 1400 minutes with unlimited texting. My husband gets a small discount through his job.

Not really. Paying the occasional data overage is often still cheaper than paying for unlimited data.

At $15/gb, I would rather just pay for it an not worry about it. I'm okay with paying more as I use it more often than not. If you don't use data, your plan reflects that and you get a savings.

If you are a data user, you are screwed unless you pay for it or you have a grandfathered plan.

Yes, this plan exactly.

It's just the thought of saving money, but if there are people that currently have the UNL data and regularly go over 3 GB a month.. Then by all means, it's beneficial for them to keep it.

But for those that hardly ever go over 2 GBs monthly, then they should at least give it a thought.

You are correct. The 700mhz basically allows SIM swapping without penalty, including for those on unlimited plans. My mistake.

You Can Use Your Verizon Smartphone LTE SIM in an iPad (with Unlimited Data Plans & Hotspot too) – Verizon Responds

The coveted 700 MHz spectrum that Verizon licensed had strings attached… powerful strings. Specifically, the auction rules forbid a carrier from blocking end-user device changes with serial-number restrictions.

Use about 90-100gb on verizon unlimited.
No throttling. No overages.
Netflix, Hulu, iTunes Match.

They'll have to kill me first to give it up.
