Unlimited data vs Limited data...... Yes you get throttled after 5gb(sometimes), but it is still unlimited and I can use as much as I want with out OVERAGES...

I wonder how many of those predicting unlimited's imminent demise have regrettably lost and/or given up their own unlimited plans.. ;)

Your statement can be true.

However, nobody has a crystal ball as to what will happen in the future.

Let's face it the 2gb for $30 is absolutely laughable and amounts to gouging. AT&T is giving 10gb on a family share plan; betting that is the sweet spot as long as all of the lines collectively don't use a lot of data.

Exactly. I think AT&T will slowly continue to tighten the screws (or sweeten the pot) until unlimited data no longer makes sense. Since the three of us on my account use no more than 2GB a month we'll have to increase our data 5x before I need to worry about more.

They need to up the caps. Make 2gb for $15 bucks and then have a 5gb for $30 and 8-10gb for $50-60 a month. I could live with 5gb a month but no way I'm going to pay the same I pay now for 2gb.

Since cellular data is the lifeblood of a smartphone I don't think carriers would devalue their money maker like that so easily.

They would still make a killing and also have overage charges still which aren't the case with unlimited. Also lower prices would entice more people to get a smart phone, further increasing carrier revenue.

My 2.5gb of LTE is plenty for me as I don't go out of my way to use as much data as I can. Especially with wifi available to me most places I go.

Working in a secured financial environment, wifi isn't an option during most of my work day. Unlimited data is very helpful.

Now, if only Verizon's network wasn't so painfully congested in Pittsburgh...

Im dropping my unlimited data as soon as the iPhone 6 comes out with that larger display.

Plus there's wi-fi everywhere I go.

iPhone 4 + iOS 7 is a bit wanky.

Your post actually makes no sense. You mad?

Last month I used 34+ GB of Verizon data watching hockey games all day at work. So please, don't act like you know what you're talking about.

Oh, great.

I'll just call AT&T and tell them that Verizon gives bhags8 different results than I get from AT&T and I'm sure that will fix everything.

That's how it works, right?

Not giving mine up either. Actually, before I upgraded to my 5S back in September (came from a 4S), I checked with 3 different AT&T reps - 2 different stores and 1 online chat - and was told that I could keep it for the rest of my life.

To quote, they said "we'll never take that away from you" and let me keep my unlimited data and my Nationwide 450 min with rollover plan. I think I will take AT&T up on the offer to keep my plan for the rest of my life. I see no reason to change anything personally.

I'll be keeping mine as well. Let the other users count their MBs and pay overages. I'll fully enjoy Verizon's expansive 4G LTE network.

Like I said, I'm waiting for the iPhone 6 with a larger/better display.

I think what he is getting at is that you can change your plan at any time--as long as you stay with AT&T. You don't need to wait for a hardware update--and it doesn't affect your upgrade cycle.

If you are on an iPhone 4 though I'd get your iPhone 6 first and wait a month. If you haven't used LTE before, you may think twice about giving up unlimited data once you do. I barely hit 200mb a month on my iPhone 4, but now hit between 2 and 6GB on my iPhone 5.

You sure have me confused. Are you saying you are using data more today, so you are sticking with unlimited now, but will be using less when you get the Iphone 6??

Confused.

I dropped mine on two lines, finally. Stupid me. If I had done that two years or more ago, I could pay for another phone at full price with the savings. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Well, Verizon has indicated that at some point it may force people off grandfathered unlimited plans--so enjoy it while you can. :) AT&T just throttles people at 5GB (sometimes) so its effectively already done this--though 5GB of data for $30 is still a deal.

At some point, I think its possible that better tiered data pricing might cause me to leave unlimited on my own considering how competitive it is out there.

Where did you hear this?? Verizon......

how is sprint with lying about coverage? apparently in my area, i can get 4g let unlimited on my iPhone 5. what's the catch? i have heard sprint is bad, but i never had it so idk what the problem is. can someone that has had sprint tell me anything about it?

I'm actually on Verizon.

When Verizon first got the iPhone 4 in February 2011, they offered unlimited data/$30 a month. Despite having unlimited data, I almost never use it past 2GB. When the iPhone 6 is released I would be ok giving up my unlimited 3G for 2GB of LTE.

I would also switch to T-Mobile and just buy the iPhone outright but its actually more worth it on a family plan as well as some benefits being with Verizon for so long.

Ex. Was allowed to upgrade to iPhone 5 in Sep 2012 even though my 2 year contract didn't end until Feb 2013.

Also got my iPhone 4 stolen, canceled my account but got the phone back a year later. They allowed me to get back my unlimited even though they didn't offer it.

I'm keeping my unlimited data. I've got two lines unlimited with Verizon and one on a 2GB plan. I get my monies worth. I like high sound quality music and Spotify blows it up. Add Netflix on nightshift and I can blow up some data. I'll keep it until they take it away.
