Mostly because the iPhone 13 (pro and non-pro) is largely an underwhelming update. On one hand, they introduce the Pro Res to the iPhone but then they limit its usage due to the slow lightening port that remains on the iPhone.
It does seem like ProRes video is a feature that they moved up (to give reviewers something to hype up) yet intentionally delayed (so that reviewers can’t review it).

It’s going to be interesting to see how the YouTubers squirm their way around the whole “Lightning Port on a ProRes Camera” conundrum.

As everyone has said, YouTubers are just looking for clicks and are not indicative of the average consumer/prosumer. It's funny though that even after all the complaining they still end up buying the latest "complaint" device because deep down, they want it (and need it to review/test for more videos). If they didn't upgrade phones, tablets, computers, and watches every year, who would watch their videos? No one wants to watch the iPhone 12 Pro Max review 3 years straight, where they just re-do the original review every year since they hate the new iPhone and don't think it's worth the upgrade.

Exactly, I was just going to say that....it's all about clicks on their site.
Oh maybe its just the fact that this years 'upgrade' is lacklustre and considering its not much different to the 12 series (which was a massive upgrade), it doesn't deserve the enthusiasm you think it does. This point will make all the more sense once you see the massive changes the 14 will bring next year. iPhone 13 is going to be a forgettable model, mark my words.

It’s basically the 12 S. Which means it’s a solidly refined version of what was done last year. That’s not good enough for some people and they make a lot of money trying to convince you it’s not good enough for you, every year. Apple moves at a slow pace. It’s been this way for years. I’m not always thrilled about that myself, but it is what it is. If we listened to all of these videos, we’d all be carrying around iPhone 6’s and X’s because I see lots of people keep insisting Apple has done nothing noteworthy since introducing those models.
Totally agree. I also think people don't realize the scale that Apple operates at and how they like to implement features. Yes, various Android phones have had 120 Hz screens for a couple of years now, but operating at 120 hz came with caveats (screen resolution hit, color fidelity hit, battery life hit) and none of those were being produced at iPhone scale numbers. I often see people online saying Apple is "holding back" features for the future, which to my mind is utter bollocks. If Apple could unleash X feature sooner, I'm sure that they would. The issue is probably related to some sort of quality issue, a hit to battery life, or being able to deliver at scale.

My only current gripe is Lightning/USB-C. Although, even if they just put the Pro line on USB-C, I'd probably be fine with that.

As far as the general public, Yes. It is the exact same phone as the 12 and 11. While the general design of the iPhone 13 greatly resembles the iPhone 12 & iPhone 11, there are differences between the models. Mainly the top notch being smaller. As far as the 120hz display, the general public is not going to associate 120hz to the display. They will make comments referring to how the A15 is so powerful that the system is running more "optimized".

That what everybody says every year..."just you wait till next year...it'll be great" as far as these devices, it's now a fairly mature market. Every year has been a lackluster change in the grand scheme of devices. I don't believe there will be any new earth shattering changes like when the first iPhone came out. I think Apple is going to continue pushing into the medical sensor/device world.

Most youtubers never put into consideration the longevity and the years of updates. For me, any review without considering those factors is useless. I wouldn't pay $1200 for a brand that is full of functions but won't last more than 2 years and won't get updates more than years.

I couldn't care less about what social media "influencers" think or say in their clickbait videos - I don't even watch them. I make my decisions based upon my own wants/needs, and what anybody else thinks of it doesn't matter one bit to me. I've held on to my XS for three years because I didn't see anything compelling enough in the 11 or 12 to make me want to upgrade. This year there are enough cumulative improvements over what I currently have to make me want to upgrade, so I'm doing it. If I had a 12, I probably wouldn't. The improvement in the 13 over a 12 is pretty incremental and not that significant, but the improvement from an older model is considerably more significant.

YouTuber’s are so extremely desensitized to this stuff because they see and hold so many variations of tech, so every single thing they see is a small iteration of what came before it. They also, despite what they may claim in their videos, cannot put themselves in the same mindset as the average consumer.
Well said. Quite true.
