hmm, and I actually thought of standing in a line for this.

But it figures. It's called "Bait and Switch"

They get you hooked with an exeptional product and when your not looking they sell you a cheap clone of the original.

Just hope it's not toxic also.

So you only take note of the problem posts, and none of the happy peoples posts? OK then

No i'll buy one. I would have already except for the fact that that I would have to endure hours of torture.

I just am bored and have resorted to complaining and replying to posts randomly

sorry

My iPhone's screen and body are perfect and I get very minor lag, but I've noticed that my sleep/wake button is tilted downward on one side.

I have noticed the bottom bezel has one or two noticeable imperfections (you can feel slight chips with your finger) and the edges aren't all flush (glass to bezel).

Do I feel silly complaining about it?

Would I exchange it for one without these problems? Yes.

Either way, it's not a huge deal by any means, the phone is still beautiful, but I do notice it.

I bought a 3G on 7/11 and noticed the screw head was almost sticking out from the case (bottom). It was screwed in at an angle and looked stripped. The plastic around the hole was chipped too.

I took it back and they promptly exchanged it for a sealed one. No questions asked. The new 3G is pretty much flawless. If I wanted to be really ocd, I noticed a small spot on the Apple logo on the back, but it's barely noticeable unless your looking for it - directly underneath a lamp.

Get this, I have no yellow tint with the new one.

Hey guess what, when you build 1 million + of anything, there will be some with defects....sorry. To all those who have your new i-phone....YOU DOIDY RATS..... I wish I had one. I was not willing to stand in line so this is the price i pay...for now.

I picked up a 16GB/white today. My cousin went along and bought a 8GB/black. Both are flawless, which is a good thing since we stood in line for three hours to get them.

just got my iPhone 3G yesterday and I am going to exchange it as I am not happy with the build quality of this particular unit.

here are my problems

-glass is leaking light on one side. very annoying when watching videos in the dark

- dust under screen

-chrome bezel has weird discolouration

- back has little dried up dots that look like paint that didnt dry properly.

i am kinda pissed because my first original iphone didnt have any flaws at all. and now i am gonna have to try to find a place that has a 16gig i can exchange

:S

I just exchanged a 16GB Black due to accelerometer issues.

Now I get light leaks from my replacement...it's very distracting in the dark.

Do you think the Apple Store will exchange it?

i would try man.. keep on trying until you are happy.

My first unit had chips in plastic near sim slot, small dried paint bubble and light leakage around frame near volume buttons. My second unit is flawless.

They'll really replace it for that, no questions asked? I have that light leakage problem along with a few others (look at my first post).

i am just going to keep on exchanging mine until i am 100% happy with it.

i didnt pay 300 bucks and extend my contract for 3 yrs to have something i am not happy with

Though I love my new iPhone 3G (as much as I love my first gen iPhone) I too had the light leak from the left edge bezel along with the vibrate mechanism "rattling" as if it were loose. So I took it back today and they did exchange it without issue. Though at first they claimed they had no more Black 16 GB in stock and asked if I would mind waiting a few days or taking the White one, but then they just happened to have a new Black one in the back for me. This new one does not have the bezel issue but the vibrate mechanism still rattles (though not as bad as the one I exchanged.)

When it comes down to it though, I hate to say it, the quality does seem just a bit cheaper than the previous model, but still a beautiful work of art that I will enjoy!

I think I'll try to do that, too. BTW, if you had an existing iPhone, you didn't add two years to your contract, you got rid of the old one and started a new one.

Here's a few more things that aren't too big of a deal, but are still notable...:

A little glow from the screen's backlight is noticeable from the top speaker.

There's one dead pixel on the screen (not too big of a deal at all, they usually go away)

The silent/ring switch wobbles when it's set to silent.

I am beginning to wonder if at this point. the slight wobble is the nature of that switch-- maybe it just does not fit as flush as plastic would on the last one?

Mine has a very slight wobble/rattle when in the vibrate mode-- and only if I really shake it.
