The iPhone was announced on June 09 with no front facing camera.
The thought that Apple could change it's mind, modify the 3G design to add said camera, make all the necessary manufacturing changes needed, and then manufacture all the iPhones needed for a July 11 launch is ludicrous.
The thought that the iPhone 3G has a front facing camera but Apple has intentionally hidden this feature is theoretically possible, but would be incredibly stupid, and from what I've read on these forums Apple is generally not a stupid company. BTW, this would also mean that the first few phones seen and demoed by the media had to be modified to hide the camera and place a bogus sensor in its place. Seems like a lot of work to hide a new feature.
This thread was not started to debate the merits of a front facing camera, it was started to claim that there was a good chance the 3G would have one, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. And now all responses saying there is no new camera are labeled "flames." 🙄
ANNOUNEMENT: despite the fact that I have no evidence to support this, I declare that the iPhone 3G will have a front facing camera, be available in a red 32GB version as well as black/white 8GB and 16GB versions, and will be sold unlocked to anyone without a contract for $199.99. Anyone who disagrees with any of the above is an ass.
