I went in to a large store in Southampton (UK) today and asked abut shipping times for the new iMac. They said November!!!!

Apparently all the ones produced at preset are being sent to the USA so UK supplies are supposedy going to be low to say the least. I don't know if he was right or not, but thats over a month away... seems like a long time to me. And by that time people will probably be thinking about the second revision.

Hmmmmmmm. :(

Well I am from the UK and mine has been sitting on my desk for three days now!

iMacs Shipped Thursday

Are you still stuck in the PH? The last movement my computer made was leaving the PH but that was Thursday afternoon and I haven't seen any updates since. It just says "Left FedEx Sort Facility , SUBIC BAY FREEPORT PH" and has been that way for almost 48hours now. :(

My iMacs shipped Thursday and, according to FedEx, reached Los Angeles at 6:00AM. Trying not to hope too hard that they could be delivered today...48 hours with my new iMacs....mmmmmmmmmm.

I was really surprised to get my shipping email this morning, I ordered last Sunday (the 19th), a 17" BTO (160 gig HD, 1 GB of RAM)...only 6 days...seems like it's kind of random when it ships for different people. I ordered mine with the edu. discount but I have no idea if that matters.

Huh? Can i ask where you got yours from? I don't fancy waiting until November! I did think it was a bit odd for them to quote such a long time -- maybe I just got someone who just guessed without really knowing anything

Well I suppose it goes to show how long new Macs take to work their way down the food chain. I suppose its only logical that Apple would supply their own store first!

I think that you chose wisely. An early Happy B-Day. It will still make for an awesome birthday celebration, one that you will long remember.

That's cool... my birthday is Tuesday and I'm also hoping for it to reach me by then. It's going to have to do a lot of traveling though to get from the Phillipines to New York by Tues. Hmmmm.....

Has anyone that has revieved BT keyboard and mouse posted if you get the wired ones aswell? I remember there was some confusion to this earlier in the thread.

It looks like base models (not BTO) are being pulled off line that day or the next. BTOs that involve BT are having the longest hit so forget BT if you want one fast. The 250 HD shouldn't take too long these days and the 20" is moving OK based on previous posts - as long as you do not have BT. I would bet that Apple will beat most projected shipping dates for Apple Store sales, either on the phone or on line.

How bad is a 20" with BT shipping date? I ordered 6 AM on 31 Aug and mine came off the live Friday - still in China.

All this means that it you want an imac now go stock or stock+larger HD. Do NOT go BT - buy a dongle if you want the iMac now.

20" BTO iMac on the way!! But still a few questions.

I checked the order status information on the Apple website this afternoon and it says that my BTO (250GB HD, 1GB RAM, BT) 20" iMac has shipped, which is great since Apple quoted me on or before 13th October. Where are the iMacs coming from and what seems to be the normal time from confirmation of shipping to arrival in the UK? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just called FedEx to check on the status of my computer since the tracking page still says the same thing for over 48hours now. The agent told me that there is a special group of people who handle orders like this and they aren't in now (this was the FedEx Ground International Div. Customer Service Rep. ) but that it looks like my package is a week out from being delivered. I really had to pry for her to give me info as she was very reluctant. I asked if the package had reached the States yet and she told me no, that it was in route. So now I don't know what to think.

the fact that i don't have bluetooth is giving me some hope that it will arrive soon... but i don't know if they're installing the airport for me. Has anyone had a 20"/250HB/1GBRam (2DIMM) config ship yet?

A Bigger Tea Party in Shanghai

I have the exact same information as you Gatorron.

(Sep 25,2004 - 9:33 pm - package in fedex location - Shanghai CN)

What troubles me is the 'estimated delivery date' on the Fedex page - Oct 11, 2004 by 10:30 AM.

OCT 11? What's up with that??? When does the 2 day shipping I paid for take effect?

I found more detailed shipping information if I used the waybill number from the email that Apple sent me informing me that my iMac has shipped. You kids might want to give that a try.

I'm gonna go back to watching the Weather Channel. Good luck up there, gatorron!

BT 20" shipping to UK

It seems that the G5s are being sent out as batches according to their configuration. I ordered on August 31, shortly after the introduction: a standard 20" but with BT installed. It shipped yesterday. TNT (the couriers to Europe) are not terribly good with their tracking data -- it's usually brought up-to-date after the wretched thing has been delivered.

Anyway, at least it's off the starting blocks.

Good luck to the rest of you -- I think they'll arrive thick and fast now. I shouldn't worry too much about what you order -- some are going to be a little slower than others perhaps, but my guess is that there won't be a great delay -- at least not for orders directly from Apple.

Cheers

Mine is in the same boat (er, I hope it's not actually a boat...).

Compounding the potential problem is the fact that Apple's financial quarter ended 9/24. Anything shipped and invoiced by 9/24 gets included in Apple's results for the financial quarter - so of course they had incentive to ship as many as possible out of Apple's door - and piling them up in FedEx's warehouse. Not coincidentally, a lot of us have 9/24 ship dates... and these boxes now seem to be piled up next door in FedEx's facility.

Now I just hope that I get the 2-day priority shipping treatment that I paid for.

Why, Steve, Why ?

I seem to be one of the few people to order on the thirty-first or the first who hasn't gotten any love from Apple. :(

After all, I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and gosh darnit, people like me. ;)

A Tea Extravaganza!

Gatorron and Cyclops, I have the same details from FedEx as you just a few minutes off. Hopefully all of a sudden more info will just show up and it will be somewhere closer than Shanghai!

Go FedEx!

My iMac 20" BT has been in Shanghai since Friday.
FedEx tracking now shows it's arrived in Alaska!
Now it probably goes to Memphis then it's on its way to Canada.
Hope the border guards are in a good mood, please don't blame us all for Celine Dion! :)

Mine, too! I'm guessing Memphis, then Winnipeg, Vancouver, and finally, Calgary (would have cost FedEx a lot less to fly it directly from Anchorage). Maybe it'll even beat the estimated ship date of Sept 30!

If you look at the email Apple sent to notify you of shipping, it mentions that when shipping occurs on a Friday, tracking may not be up to date until the end of the day Monday. I don't think these units are sitting in a warehouse, I think they're on the way.

BTW, FedEx seems to have 2 different tracking systems. When I went to fedex.com/us/ and entered my tracking number, it gave me an estimated ship date of Sept 30, which appeared to be correct, based on the fact that my iMac had already reached Anchorage. When I clicked on the tracking link in Apple's email, it took me to FedEx Express shipping, which gave me an estimated ship date of Oct 14, as many others have mentioned. I think that the estimated ship dates shown in FedEx Express tracking are incorrect.

I think it won't be long now for many of us!
