I haven't paid any attention to my order today and look what happened:

My shipping date says on or before the 13th October, and then allow 3-7 days to arrive. So realistically I guess I'm going to have it by the 20th. Is that the same for everyone?? Also, my order, according to Apple has been put on priority to get it made quicker because they messed it up to begin with, does anyone know how much of a difference this makes?

You should of ordered only 256mb of ram and upgraded not through apple.
But if you have the money why not support apple.

that's my exact config, except I don't have bluetooth. I ordered on 9/18.

In fact i'm going to call westworld right now and see what the dilly is.

I called westworld... they said they had the 17 inches earlier than they had thought, and they don't have the 20 inch stock models yet, but they should have them in about a week. Since mine is a special order w/ ram and hard drive upgraded i still don't know, but he said that it shouldn't be too much longer than that....

I'm guessing 2-3 weeks. at least it gives me a time frame, but I still have no specific OOB date.

Sorry to hear that yours is last. I'm sure yours will ship right behind mine (same except 512KB RAM, which shipped today).

BTW, while I understand why pay $75 to upgrade to 512KB memory, why did you make the decision to spend $225 for the 1GB upgrade? Just curious...

Lucky me

I ordered an iMac 20" with everything stock except I upgraded RAM to 512 mb. I ordered this on Sept. 13th and my original ship date was "On or before Oct. 12." I called Apple yesterday, on Thursday Sept. 24th, and changed the iMac order from the upgraded RAM to the Built-in Bluetooth w/Wireless Keyboard and Mouse combo. The Apple Rep told me this would move my order back about 10 days and my ship date was changed to "On or before Oct. 22nd." Today I was going to call Apple and cancel my order and drive a few hours up to a nearby Apple Store and buy a stock 20" iMac but when I checked my e-mail, lo and behold, I had an e-mail from Apple telling me that my iMac has now shipped!!! Yippieeeeeeeeeeee. I'm kinda mad cause I would have liked to pick up one tomorrow at the Apple Store, but oh well..... I'm glad I waited cause I wanted that built-in Bluetooth. Hopefully I will recieve the iMac next week cause I can't wait to use it.

Yours is exactly configured as mine. Hang in there, it will ship soon...my guess is you will get it before Oct.12.

512 KB of RAM? That's an impressive spec -- let us know how you go booting OS X. Considering that it's eight times the maximum RAM of the old Apple II, it should be an absolute screamer.

(Yes, I know you meant 512 MB. I just couldn't help myself. )

Well for me I'm a firm believer of 'one neck to choke' when something goes wrong.

While I've never had a problem ordering from anyone like Crucial when I order a BTO system, I don't want to crack the case when it gets here, I want to plug the power cord in and rock and roll.

It shipped toda. When I checked online today around 5:30 PM CST, it showed shipped, and tonight whenI got in about 8:15 I had the email from Apple.

The Fedex site still shows that it does not have possession so I may have missed the truck today, so I may be on the first truck out on Monday. They still beat that 10/01 date so I am pretty happy. At least I am happy to not be obsessing over the refresh on the Apple site any longer. Now on to the FedEx site.

Just to clarify it says shipped on 9/24/04.

If it gets here after Tuesday I may be screwed for a whole week more as I will be out of town until Saturday. Hmmm to cancel or not to cancel the trip to New York????

Well, I gave up on waiting for 30 day delivery on 20"/BT/250/AE. Ordered 15 Sept with OOB ship date of 14 Oct. I picked up a stock 20" and 2 sticks of 512MB (apple branded) for an extra $270 (I know, it cost about $199 if 3rd party...) My local Apple Washington DC store had one left since a person who had previously put on hold backed up...Early Christmas for me!

well, ordered 17", BT, 1mb ram and airport on 9/15. ship date WAS 10/14. decided today i wanted the 20" after seeing one at the apple store. so, i head on-line to cancel my order and find out it shipped today...like everyone else, no fed ex tracking number recognized yet. great. anyone want a 17" bto??

I called Apple. At first they stated that since it was shipping from Shanghai that it would have to go through customs....after clearing customs it would take 5-7 days to get here.
I then got a little bit more serious with her(not rude).....but wanted specific details as to why they would say it would take 10 days to get here when FedEx was quoting me at 19 days.....when they knew it would ship from Shanghai and have to go through customs. She then put me on hold, came back and said it will take 3 days coming from China. She then said it would be Wednesday of next week that it should arrive.
5 days is a lot better than 19 days So all of those who are getting the longer-than-expected ship times.....I think we're okay and the iMacs should be arriving within a week. Perhaps FedEx is just giving conservative estimates?

That is spectacular news! Did you order expedited shipping or standard shipping? I ordered standard, which should be fast enough.

Looks like fedex is working weekends. Mine was shipped on Friday the 24th and it's now saturday in China and fedex site now shows some activity on the order.
